I'm so proud of this team man. After games 1 & 2, I was embarrassed. But they never quit and stayed true to themselves and look what happened. What a game. Schmid was HUGE, loved the effort and determination from Palat, and the rest of the team were certainly up to the task. Very happy we got over this very tough series, and I hope the Devils continue to grow to maybe aspire to another championship. As for Trouba, we shall remember!

Rangers fan since 79, the choke is real.... Being a Ranger fan is a rough ride. We have 1 cup since 1940, since WW2 to put things in perspective.

A second playoff shutout for Akira Schmid? Good for him. Congrats Devils! Best of luck against Carolina.

Didn’t manage to catch the game, but watching these highlights I have three thoughts: 1. Schmid played a monster of a game in goal. To do that in game 7 of a series is something to be very proud of. 2. That first goal was an amazing effort by the two Devils players, they caught the Rangers sleeping a little and outworked them, not to mention that last delay to get that puck around the goalie was perfect. 3. Holy cow, that was A LOT of odd man rushes from the Devils. The Rangers goalie has gotta be a bit pissed at his team for allowing that many I would think.

He was pretty pissed it seemed. Toward the end he was just winging the puck up the ice like "For the love of god do something, ANYTHING with this".

The Devils' relentlessness and determination was insane! They gave nothing to the Rangers!

As I was watching the game last night and I just couldn't believe how slow the Rangers really are! Always last on possession of the puck. They made me think like a bunch of elderly people with lots of experience but not enough energy to compete!

Rangers, Lightning, Bruins and Avalanche out. These playoffs are nuts. Devils far superior speed is the key for their win. Rangers over 7 games really couldn’t establish much pressure and allowed the vast majority of rush chances. Rangers too slow to keep up with the Devils. I tip my hat for the Devils and how they turned around their play compared to last season and am enjoying their run with exciting young players. They deserved it because they were the superior team in this series due to their superior speed. And Trouba again with a borderline to dirty hit.

Remember last year against Tampa they were fantastic the first 2 games. Unbelievable goals and plenty of them. Then Tampa shut them down and it was as boring as watching Montreal win cups in the 70s. I'd forgotten why I got bored with hockey back then but watching minute after minute of that borefest last year brought it all back. We're so spoiled with all the games being shown now and how we can watch them when we want. Bloody hell. Maybe I should complain less. Okay, I've got one; back in the day with an all analog TV system I could actually see the puck after it was shot. With digital, no way. Anybody who says they can see it no problem goes on my suspected bullshitter list. And the caliber of the players is the best ever. And the clutching and grabbing eliminated. Thanks Gary.

The most biased “neutral” broadcasting I’ve ever seen. Everything was about the rangers. Devils are up 3-2 and all the mention is the rangers trying to get game 7, not the devils trying to advance. Even in the highlight, “rangers need to score” followed immediately by a devils goal.

Congrats to the Devils! As a Hawks fan I'm sad for Kaner but there's always next year, good series but the Game 7 was all NJ

Everyone talking about how the Rangers failed but not how the Devils succeeded. Shesterkin got outplayed by Schmid, who might arguably be the next guy in NJ. People may bring up he was 9-5 in the regular season, but he had a 0.922 save which is pretty outstanding. And in the playoffs so far he has a 0.937+ save. This guy isnt getting lucky. He's the real deal imo who is getting his chance to show what he can do.

Schmid was awesome. Two shutouts, only one loss, ridiculous GAA and save percentage. Oettinger was the only other goaltender to record a shutout. If anything, it's the skaters that left something to be desired. Haula leading in goals and point? Meier with a goose egg?

@Will Muny In the NBA, the "right" teams win. In the NHL, the "wrong" ones do. That's the difference between the two leagues.

I had to check. We all know Panarin is a great regular season player, that constantly produces at over a point per game pace. However, in the playoffs for the Rangers he has 20 points in 30 games. This year he has been completely invisible. I had the Devils going all the way to the finals in my bracket prediction and this is a good start. Next they play the Canes, who are missing Svech, Teravainen, Pacioretty and their offense is really thin. The Devils should be able to pull that one off. And this is from a Canes fan.

Still made more of an impact then the rangers lord and savior kane. He put good shots on net and was throwing hits throughout the series. He ended up getting rocked at the end, but still returned and will be good for the next series. If it were kane or tarasenko that got hit like that they would of left immediately and you wouldnt hear from them until next season lol.

C'mon, it is always a bit lottery adding new players. Tarasenko and Kane were great players to have. Kane seemed to be better than he actually was. If there was any error, what comes to him, maybe he should have been moved away from the top 2 lines as the games went on. Bertuzzi was also great add to Boston, and so were Korpisalo and Gavrikov to Kings. Meier is yet to shine for NJ, Ekholm has been excellent for Oilers and I wonder what would have happened to Toronto without O'Reilly? There were really not any big mistakes when adding new players, somebody has just to lose and win games.

They remind me of the young 2009 Blackhawks. That Blackhawks team might have won the Cup but they ran into the proven winners, the juggernaut 2009 Red Wings in the WCF and the Wings schooled them. There is no 2009 Red Wings type juggernaut team left in these playoffs. There's no reason they can't make a deep run.
