Even as a non hockey fan I played the shit out of this on pc.. But most of my time went to fifa 98 Road to world Cup and international superstar soccer 98:) great year for sports games

Oh yeah for sure. I'm a Detroit native btw, and grew up as a little kid watching Yzerman, Shanahan, Fedorov, Hasek and Osgood. Used to hate the Avs when Roy, Sakic, Foote, Claude Lemieux and Forsberg were playing. Good times.

Whenever I saw "EA Sports" back then, I always knew it would be a terrific experience 😊 Konami suffered the same fate, BTW.

I definitely think it's the best intro for any hockey game still, brings back memories, loved racking up the abuse of the official penalties.

It’s 2021 and 23 Years ago this came out and STILL the best intro !

When everything mattered including 90's hockey!!!! I still get that rush watching this, yet when I play anything newer or watch anything current it bores the crap out of me?!!!

I remember playing this in college. I wasn't even into hockey at the time, but the intro alone got me into spending lots of hours in this game.

The only intro that made you actually want to turn off the game and strap on the gear after watching it and go play. Hell we even had it once played in our roller hockey warm ups

There it is. I was looking for exact that intro (especially Arnott going into the box). After NHL 98 I knew 90% of all NHL players and their teams. Loved that intro, loved that game.

Even in 2024, NHL 98 INTRO still is the BEST! The gameplay also is amazing like NHL 14. Such a shame that NHL series fell apart forever ever since the PS4 port of NHL 15. 😭

This is probably THE COOLEST intro. I have several NHL games and I always come back to this intro.

It's almost depressing to see the presentation of this series today, compared to back then. EA is just so lazy with music anymore. Pulling some songs out of "Top 40" and slapping them into their games. Nothing memorable about NHL since around 2001. That's a really, really, long time.

This was my first NHL game and wow. The intro was the best for sure. Wished EA Sports would go back to what made them so wonderful. They need to go back to these intro's and music. This game will always be stuck in my mind for playing tons of hours against my brother.

This was Bad A back in the day! Still bad to the bone it gives you chills doesn't it? Got you pumped for a game to play that would never work because your green computer sucked some days ah! I used think my computer would crash sometimes just because of this amazing intro it was to much coolness for a lame 98 Windows.. I would just put the CD in to just watch the intro and never play the game. That's a good intro where you would rather watch that over and over again then play the game. Plus the fact the intro is still in my head after all these years and here I am writing a comment wasting my time on how much I liked it back in the day. Even my grandpa wanted to play hockey after watching that intro and never skated once in his life...
