Seems like there is a reason why humans always have been choosing the right tools for the job when it comes to serious violence. An unarmed person will always be at a grave disadvantage against an armed one. Even more so if the latter is trained in wielding their weapon properly.

Francis would have a major psychological advantage in a test scenario like that. He's used to fighting monsters and accepting he will get hurt. His pain tolerance is also off the charts. The person facing Francis will probably be scared. I mean, the person facing him should be scared.

Just for you guys to understand the power behind these kinds of wooden swords. Miyamoto Musashi fought some of his duels with a wooden sword and killed his opponents.

4:22 Ok, the slow motion of that punch was kinda hilarious. Watch the guy getting hit. He's hit so hard that the earlobe on the opposite side of his head is flopping around like it's in a strong wind.

So interesting! I suppose you'd need to swing really hard to cause good damage, so if Ngannou blocks one strike and moves in, he might be able to trade an arm for a clinch or takedown like GodGyun said. Yeah he would get hit for sure, he'd have to... Hmm, really hard to know for sure what would happen, the bokken is no joke weapon.

Y es por eso que deberían entrenar Koryu Bujutsu en lugar de solo kendo y kenjutsu. El Koryu Bujutsu te ayuda a ser más que una persona con una espada, te ayuda a ser realmente competente para la batalla

Ngganou is built different and super athletic. You gotta remember that the man showed up to a boxing fight at 277 pounds with abs with the cardio for 10 rounds. He has 100 pounds of muscles over a kendo welterweight which changes things from a durability standpoint and if he rushes it’s going to be hard to maintain distance when he is going forwards and yourself backwards. The boken is still just a wedged club so I’m very unsure of it’s stopping power against that level of physical superiority combined with a mind intelligent enough to use it optimally

Goodness....how do you keep from getting a knee to the face when going for a takedown? The way they grab the leg....I can see losing my teeth trying that.

Kendo would lose against mma 9 times out of 10. Just grab the stick and dash in for a takedown or strike. Someone without training swinging a bat would have a better chance because at least theyre unpredictable. Kendo is too rigid.

"Just grab the stick" - yeah, that would definitely be that easy. Someone untrained with a weapon does not know how to use it in an effective way and does not know how to move with it properly. You seem to vastly underestimate the damage a person trained in the use of a weapon can do even with a simple sturdy stick. There is a reason humanity has always fought its wars using proper tools for the job, even if those were sticks and stones at some point.

@@ThePurussaurusi did kendo for 14 years and i have been doing kickboxing and bjj for the last 3 years. So i know exactly how it feels like to get hit with a shinai and a bokken. I am very confident i could grab the bokken and lay into a kendoka... up to maybe like a 2nd or 3rd dan without much problems.

@@ThePurussaurusweaboo. At most the mma fighter will take 2 hits that would be blocked. Then the kendo gets taken down and killed

@@themikesuh It will surely depend on the individual like always - I train in MMA, K1, submission grappling, FMA and HEMA all of them for different amount of years but have sparred enough times to be realistic and humble enough to know that I am not on a pro fighters level yet, although it is what I train to be one day eventually. But I can tell you with 100% confidence that absolutely no unarmed person would be able to just snatch my weapon away from me without getting at least their hands absolutely shattered while trying to do so (reach of a stick/sword compared to bare hands). What I give you is that a lot of the time people training in armed martial arts (mostly traditional MA) just dont have a concept for what real violence is like and therefore will not be able to hold their ground against someone who does and knows how to apply it. But my primary point still stands: A fighter with a weapon and the qualification to wield it will always have an advantage over an unarmed fighter. History has shown endless times.
