The league said in a statement that the views Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker expressed in a speech at Benedictine College “are not those of the NFL as an organization.”

A distinct difference should be acknowledged between sexism and religious opinions. Butker is receiving backlash because of his comments about women's rights and their roles in society. He is quoted as saying that their greatest joy should be being mothers and homemakers, not in workplace jobs. Nowhere in the Bible is it said that women should not or can not be part of the working community. In fact, so many conservative and working Christian and Catholic women that I know personally have rejected his speech for that comment as it disrespects the effort that they put in to be treated fairly in their workplaces because of sexist ideas like this. Yes, he has the right to free speech, and yes, this speech was given at a conservative university. However, this does not excuse the offensive ideas he communicated.

and from one half of the founders: “The sisters of Mount St. Scholastica do not believe that Harrison Butker’s comments in his 2024 Benedictine College commencement address represent the Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college that our founders envisioned and in which we have been so invested.”...."Instead of promoting unity in our church, our nation, and the world, his comments seem to have fostered division. One of our concerns was the assertion that being a homemaker is the highest calling for a woman. We sisters have dedicated our lives to God and God’s people, including the many women whom we have taught and influenced during the past 160 years. These women have made a tremendous difference in the world in their roles as wives and mothers and through their God-given gifts in leadership, scholarship, and their careers."...“Our community has taught young women and men not just how to be “homemakers” in a limited sense, but rather how to make a Gospel-centered, compassionate home within themselves where they can welcome others as Christ, empowering them to be the best versions of themselves. We reject a narrow definition of what it means to be Catholic. We are faithful members of the Catholic Church who embrace and promote the values of the Gospel, St. Benedict, and Vatican II and the teachings of Pope Francis.”

Also, he was talking to Catholics at a Catholic University! As a Catholic, this is in alignment with our values. Imagine if he were a Muslim speaking at a Muslim college. Pretty bold to say “it’s about the graduates, not the speaker’s personal views” When lgbt is literally pushing their views onto kids, clothes, sports, movies, books, music and television shows. And as a bisexual man, this “pride” crap has gotten way out of hand. People need to be put under control.

His speech was 100% fact. He never tore anyone down. He just said it like it is. Evil people hate it when their evil is exposed by the light.

I work in same IT company for the past 24 years and so many women chose to give up their 6 figure salaries to stay home and raise a family during Covid and never returned. Feminism is really bamboozling women when raising a great family is all that many need for fulfillment. Even men would stay at home if they had that option.

His speech was 100% opinion. He just said his truth and not necessarily the truth of others. Evil people also like to impose their views on others when they hide behind religion to avoid defending themselves from archaic views.

I don't see anything wrong with his speech. I think it is based on his experience and upbringing. But if you are a female graduate and you or your parents spend so much in your education. You should use it. If you are happy to be a homemaker then be it. If you want a career then so be it. It's a personal choice just because he said something that some people disagree. Some men are also homemaker and the wife works. Whatever works for the relationship and the partnership.

He has a right to speak his mind. He was simply speaking to a group of like minded individuals about what he feels are issues in society. He got a standing ovation from the crowd, so it must have been what they believe as well. Remember that, he has a right to speak and his audience believes the same thing. He should not have been “doxed” either. Now, he needs to keep his religious beliefs out of my home, my culture, and my country. This is The United States of America, not some Catholic theocracy where his version of the almighty gets to tell me how to live my life. You do you brother, I’ll worry about me because I think your dead wrong.

Pretty much everybody would agree with Butker's opinion, if it wasn't framed in a conservative speech. My kids and spouse matter to me much more than any title or promotion I've received. Those who juggle family and career pretty much all agree on that.
