Bill hasn't changed. The problem is the left has moved so far "left" that he seems on the right now by comparison. The problem with seeking constant change is that you aren't satisfied with the positive gains you've made. Instead you end up tearing down any institution that could protect what you've accomplished. Eventually most liberals should want to be "conservative" in the sense of conserving and maintaining the improvements made to society. Bill Maher is one of the few liberals I'll listen to because he doesn't blindly follow the liberal talking points. What they're talking about is that the leadership of the Weimar Republic saw Hitler as not a very serious character that they could easily "co-opt" as Sonny loves to say. There was a willingness among the establishment to tolerate his rise to power because the elites saw him as a useful radical that they could moderate once he came to power. Very similarly to how the Republican Party establishment tried to respond to Trump in 2016.

Maybe Whoopi's waking up. Loved the remark about only getting tiny sound bites on the "news" that may leave out the context and what's really happening. Maher then claims to know it too, but talks like the NY Times is his Bible. Hasn't he ever read or watched Chomsky's "Manufacturing Consent"? It's only 30 some years old now.

You keep saying "he's not funny" as if your opinion of his comedy is etched in stone. He's been a successful comedian for over 25 years, so obviously, there are many who does think he's funny. Comedians are like singers their art is SUBJECT to the person/people who listen. As an example, I don't think Taylor Swift is a good singer, but her millions of records sold and millions of fans would supercede my objective option of her talent. Facts are more important than our opinions or feelings.
