    @@tomhoobler6627 - For sure. True of young guys too (e.g. Tua and Burrow). Stafford shouldn’t by any logic still be able to play as well as he does. It’s crazy that Andrew Luck was drafted 3 years after Stafford, and has been out of the league for over half a decade. The Rams are certainly making plans for the future at QB, but in the short-term have enhanced the O-line to take advantage of the high level at which Stafford can still play.

    @christopherbooker796 ... No, I'm not saying that at all. The '21 Rams were a great team and Stafford won a Super Bowl with them. What I'm saying is, both 49ers rosters Purdy played on were unquestionably better. The key is, Stafford was/is a difference maker... Brock Purdy is not. Jimmy Garoppolo had that same team on a Super Bowl trajectory before injury opened the door for Purdy... and he didn't even have the best RB in football doing the heavy lifting. As far as Stafford's "prime" years being in Detroit. Well, obviously that's true. He played there 12 seasons. But 2021 with the Rams was statistically the best season of his career. And he was one of the best QBs in the league LAST year. So calling him "washed currently" is... respectfully... kinda stupid. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    @@caynine29 I see regression and I’m sure it’s due to injuries. His best years are behind him. He’s not carrying the rams with his arm either. He has good young players at the skill positions and a good offensive minded coach as well. We’ve seen plenty of qb’s get older and need more help. Not downplaying him, definitely one of the best arms I’ve seen in football. Father Time is just undefeated

  • @caynine29

    @caynine29

    29 күн бұрын

    @christopherbooker796 ... And that's the problem we're running into here. There has been literally no "regression" to see whatsoever. Again... 2021 was literally his best season as a pro... and last season he was easily a top 5 QB and played absolutely lights out. So, with that all being fact, it begs the question, exactly what sport have you been watching the last 3 years? Because it certainly doesn't seem like it's football. I mean... simply saying "I see regression" is pretty meaningless if you can't produce a single shred of evidence to support that claim. Especially when the facts of the argument say the complete opposite. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    Purdy is first in wins, second in completion percentage, second in touchdowns, and first in passer rating since taking over two years ago. Not to mention took his team to two NFC championships and a SB in his first two years with no offseason both years and coming off a UCL injury. I understand giving Stafford the nod because he won a chip, but Putting anyone else over Purdy shows you don’t know football. Especially since the 49ers OL is near bottom 5 in pass blocking.

    Kurt Warner is really a poor comparison to make for Brock Purdy. Yes, both were dropped onto great teams. But Warner's numbers were MUCH better. And Warner actually WON games with his arm on the regular, throwing over 200 MORE passes than Purdy in their first two seasons respectively. The 49ers success is BY FAR more predicated on how well McCaffrey, Deebo and their run first, run often offense plays, than Purdy. Warner's first two seasons were head and shoulders better than Purdy's. Oh and he actually also won a Lombardi for good measure.

    In my opinion after Mahomes and maybe Josh Allen, I would take Stafford over any of these quarterbacks in the league. His toughness is unmatched and his arm ability is tremendous. He is one of those quarterbacks that could have played in the 80s when quarterbacks were taking tremendous hits and playing through them . Nowadays, you can’t touch these quarterbacks. Back then the entire body was open to hitting quarterbacks. In Stafford is a true pocket passer, which is the definition of a passer not like a lot of these quarterbacks nowadays that earn their bread and butter by running. Example Lamar Jackson, you can keep him. I will take Stafford any day of the week over him. We brag every year about how Lamar Jackson is and he can’t even win playoff game! And I have to mention Phil Simms, this guy would’ve been a top five quarterback nowadays. Talk about a tough guy that hung in the pocket to make a big-time throw, that was Simms.

Phil you are a walking contradiction. That is some of the most simple minded analysis I have ever heard and I have been watching for 58 years. Stafford has been a great QB but he is aging, Purdy OK but he is not Steve young, he is lucky to be in the system he is in with that talent around him and Murry is at the top end of the 3rd tier of NFL QB's.
