It's not necessarily insulting, depends how it's used, but yeah it was probably picked to define has character as a "dag" or "daggy". Legitimately good pick for an Aussie name.

I don't know what it is but Dag braving and using enrage like 3 times in a row had me absolutely losing it. Something about the animation with the dumb sound effect was just the funniest fucking thing I've seen in a while. 10/10 best character.

The first one is actually legitimately great. It's polarising, but I'll stand by it as a fantastic experience. Defo worth going back and giving it a crack, even moreso now that 3DS is emulatable.

It's like a city-management sort of mini-game thing where you wait real time to get upgrades and stuff, but you can recruit new citizens every day even if you have no friends. Not 100% if it works offline but I'm fairly certain it dd because my 3DS was modded. The extension? Bravely Second? It's *okay*

I'm increasingly glad that I just turned all the voice acting off as soon as I started the game. I'm also becoming increasingly regretful that I spent sixty dollars on this game. It's hard to believe that these guys have EVER made an RPG before, especially not two games in the same series.

If you played the first one, it's far more of a kick to the guts. I hope for your sake you came in blind. I'm with you on the disappoint train though, except for the VA stuff, I've kinda grown an appreciation to overly-serious VA cringe. It's like short pockets of raw uncomfortable spine-tingling cringe with an RPG system behind it.

It's okay. It's a little stilted, but it's nice when characters have some *character* and they're not just the same generic American voice actors.

the scottish guy in this reminds me of a fedora-tipping neckbeard. they should've played it safe and made him a dwarf.

The first was better but I'm having fun with Default 2. Used forage to stock up on a shitload of attack items and master a couple jobs early. The bash attack from Freelancer that hits based on encumbrance has been wrecking shit so far.

I think so. I feel like yelling at non-Australians in a self-righteous fury on the internet, so this must be it.

BD2's gotta be one of the biggest disappointments in gaming for me, because I absolutely adored BD1 and BS, and even 4HoL, which served as the prototype to Default (so technically they made three games before this one) the biggest letdown was definitely how it just kind of...sidestepped the major plot element the first and second bravely games set up with the celestial realm and game mechanics being recontextualized, that kind of fourth wall meta shit was an absolute blast, and sadly, BD2 only seems to give this...tiny wink to camera if you manage to beat the 'scripted loss' battle early in, which is something you're more likely to pull off in NG+

Yeah I loved the original two games, and I stopped playing BD2 a couple hours in. The way it worked wasn't jiving with me. Something about the gameplay is worse, and the characters and classes kinda sucked, but I didn't play long enough ot find out why.

@@Caspicum it feels watered down in almost every respect, less creativity than the previous games, needlessly splitting specialties into several classes (like, there's 4 'knight' classes in BD2, it's ludicrous), and all the best classes just feel like point for point retreads over what had been done before, the characters and setting have absolutely no connection to the previous two games, the 'meta element' the game presents is weak and doesn't even tie to anything 'outside the game's world', and worst of all it's incredibly forgettable, like, I'm only barely recalling it now and I have to look some stuff up to fill in the details. oh, and equipment variety was at it's absolute lowest in this game, stripping out stranger types of weapons that existed in BD1 and BS like Katanas and Firearms, it just feels like a major step back.

Is the point of this video just "look how silly australian people sound, I can't believe they put one in a video game" or is there a non-racist reason for uploading it?

Australia and the US share the same origin as the Brits sending their unwanted and criminals abroad to work and serve. The British slavery started with the government sending said people to the colonies as indentured servants. While this label was given and used to this day, in practice they were slaves and at the mercy of the whims of their masters. Because indentured servants were supposed to have a time limit for their work, they were treated worse than black slavery that would follow, as the masters wanted to get as much out from the servants as possible. Any injury or offense given would lead to more years added to the servitude, and masters would take all possible advantages in forcing more years on their free labor. It didn't help that large parts of the indentured servants were abducted children from the streets, sent to America as criminals and vagabonds. City governments and the police were often with the kidnapping gangs, as they got their share of the money from selling indentured servant contracts. It would be a hundred years later before black slavery would become a thing after indentured servants, and incidentally, it would be a black ex-servant who would be one of the first to implement lifelong servitude towards an African-born slave. Indentured servants were often jailed or left on their own after their period of service ended, as it was a common practice to give them no land to farm or any clothes or the like. They were simply kicked out from the house of their master. However, with the increase of black servants and through that slaves, it was found that there was no yeoman class to suppress lower class revolts, and this is the origin of racial bigotry. Before this, white servants weren't treated any better than their black friends (indeed, they were often treated worse) and the masters, including the household from where Abraham Lincoln came from, decided to create the idea of the white race being superior in order to create an analog to a yeoman class within the white servants. This white cargo of indentured servants were as much slaves as the black people who would follow them, and it is only by small degrees their slavery was different. When the Americas finally refused to accept the British servants, as they saw them as the worst of the lot, the British government decided to continue their practice of sending indentured servants in the same fashion to Australia. It is sad to note how both nations are built on the blood and sweat of kidnapped children, mistreated captives and wrongly accused.

damn, really? He's actually not too far off how some Aussies speak. I'd say it's the closest thing to an authentic non-cringe anime voice I've ever heard. He didn't say "cunt" every second word so it's not *that* authentic but it's pretty bloody good.

Too bad they ruined the combat system from BD and BS

You know I’m actually really loving this game but Square failed big time with the English voices, they all suck and the game goes from ok to great just by switching to the Japanese voices. It’s crazy how little effort and emotion the English actors put into their line readings when you compare it to the Japanese actors, which is lame because Bravely 1 had a pretty solid English voice cast.

I usually Default to Japanese voices too, I'd say English ones are hit and miss, but that implies they hit. For some reason I left this on English and this dude existed. He's great.
