Her 'normal' accent is sort of posh Australian, not quite British BBC generic. She emphasised & broadened the Aussie accent some with her answers, into bogan & bushie territory. If you listed carefully you will note she does American talk shows with an American accent - heavier on the Rs, cleaner vowels etc. She gets away with posh Aussie for British talk shows, usually.

How did I not know she was Australian? Her accent is normally so subtle I thought she was British. It was nice to hear the full on accent. Suddenly I can hear it for what it is.
Knowing she's Australian doesn't make it any less weird to hear her speak her accent. Like Christian Bale, she makes working in a different accent look so easy that she makes you forget she is doing it.
I gave this to my ESL students coming to study in Australia. Much appreciated all around.

Haha I think it could totally confuse ESL students. We actually speak English, therefore a good grasp of English is the key. Most of this slang isn’ t used very much. Cate is just having a bit of fun with it. Also any immigrants or travellers who really try to understand a culture, and get to know a country’s people, will have fun and socialise better by asking questions and having slang explained imo. All the best to you.
Love how she has to put on an aussie accent because hers is subtle and a bit posh 😅 lol

The interesting thing about the game of two-up is that because it's unregulated, it is illegal to play except on ANZAC Day, which is sort of Australia and New Zealand's version of memorial day. Our troops in the trenches in WW1 played two-up to amuse themselves, so it has become a tradition for veterans and current serving members to have a game or three with a beer on ANZAC Day.

@chris Kelly. Great comment 👍. I read a comment here saying Kate was wrong and 3 coins were used which I was going to correct but I can’t find the comment now (I’m fairly sure it was 2 with the big ANZAC connection, maybe 3 coins is a casino variation)

Rhyming slang is big in Australia. Reg Grundies = undies (Reg Grundy was a media entrepreneur), dead horse = tomato sauce, Barry Crocker = shocker (Barry Crocker is an entertainer. He sang the original theme tune for Neighbours), pork pie (‘porkie’) = lie
