Her performance in Tar is spectacular, she was unrecognizable in it, complete transformation but without make-up, prostetics and dramatic costumes... she became this other person fully... amazing...

When I watched the movie, I genuinely believed that she was a conductor, it's like classical music lingo etched into her brain. Such an incredible performance, that deserves every accolade there is.

Her & Sandra Bullock are the only actors I know that TRULY transformed to a New Character each time they play something. Unlike others, same face, same facial expression... and all they can gloat about is "I'm a straight guy but I kissed a man for first time in this film."

Just came from the theatre after seeing TAR. Her performance is astonishing. I honestly don’t know if I’ve seen anything better.

As a concert violinist working with professional symphony orchestra, this was a very accurate depiction of our world. Cate Blanchett was absolutely phenomenal!!

Without a doubt the best actress working today. I can’t think of anybody else as versatile as her.

Talented and humble. Definition of a Class Act.

Best movie I've seen all year. I first thought it was just a vehicle for Cate Blanchett to win another Oscar, but it's more than that, so far this is the leading Best Picture candidate for me. Mind you I haven't watched the trailer, read reviews prior to viewing and I strongly suggest to everyone to do the same. SPOILERS follow. Tár is a masterclass of how to build a story, how to mislead or lead the audience, how to use the overall presentation of the movie in its first two thirds to fuel the message in the final third. It's one of the best stories about a fall from grace, because the movie doesn't sell itself as a story about a fall from grace. You know something will happen, but the movie convinces you it's pretty much about the life of a well-off, highly sophisticated, educated, rich and demanding conductor, who has some mild issues in her life. The movie is almost distant, cold, it shows off its eloquence and sophistication to the point you might find it a bit arrogant, poseurish, but then you realize in the final third it's all by design so you understand the stark difference between the leading character's life at the beginning and at the end. It should be mandatory viewing for anyone in power, or anyone attempting to get into power. Because as this movie beautifully shows, while you're at the top, you see so many things differently - people, situations, etc. And then when it turns around, suddenly those that seemed laughable or weak are those you need to rely on, those who suddenly laugh at you. Special movie.

Immediately I saw that clip of her conducting and speaking German I started crying.... What a woman!!! Cate Blanchett is in a class on her own.

I love Cate but having watched both the films she should have been the first Latina or the only one to win an Oscar in the lead actress category. And that is a fact. Any which way GP didn't deserve it. It was Harvey's campaigning which won her that Oscar.

I believe you and thought the same, but I recognized she does the opposite she said in the most cases. And she looks more and more unnatural, especially since she had done her nose. So I can't see where she isn't synthetic.

I haven't been this excited to see a film in a long time. Blanchett looks so masterful in these clips, and Seth Doane's gentle, thoughtful interviewing style pulls the "real" from her without being invasive. I'm also excited that this film presents a character who just happens to be a lesbian without making it a "lesbian film," which reveals maybe progress in representation and that sexuality is seen as normal human experience not the only experience.
