This just wouldn't be allowed in other countries. In Australia, I've pulled kids off for just staring down an opposition player. I honestly can count on one hand how many disrespectful players I've seen on any team in the last 5 years. And it's just not a thing in our top kids. We have 3 state players in our local competition and every single one is all smiles the whole game. While not playing on the state team, they are they all try to build up the weaker players and are smiles the entire time. None would dare talk back to an umpire! The only time you realise they are state players is when they play against each other. Those are fun games. But I'm not surprised. Working in the USA for 5 years I went to a lot of youth bball games to watch my friend's kid. The coaches and the parents were just... something else. Cheering the kid who scored 30 points in a game but never passed to the other kids. Coaches just saying, "Pass it to Leon." Leon being so tall no-one could defend him. Zone defense in under 10s and running 'plays.' Instructions to rile up other players.

At this age you're supposed to be learning lessons for life. How to respect and honour your team mates (co workers), your coaches (bosses, managers), officials and umpires (police, authority figures), and opposition (strangers in public and official settings).

I literally whip for the future!!! To me its parents first than coaches ... but how can a forth grader even be allowed on a team with tattoos !!! How could his parents be given custody when doing something like that to a 10 year old !! Sad how people just ruin kids characters before they r even built ... its like u gotta choose crime life or maybe ball life ...

I don't watch basketball, so forgive me if this is ignorant. Can someone please explain why the lay-up at 5:37 was not called for travelling? Depending on when you consider the #1 to be in "control" of the ball, he either takes 3 or 4 steps after the dribbling stops. From what I've always understood and what I read from the rules, you can only take one step while holding the ball (i.e. Whichever foot is the pivot foot can leave the ground, but cannot touch the ground again while holding the ball).

nba doesn't call travel anymore so no one does but yes that is a travel. You can blame Lebron for that. Also you can take two steps after holding the ball

I ref and have thrown players out for less. not only has the NBA destroyed the game with 3pts. but now its poisoning our young players. I hope they don't come into a gym I'm working at, its awful cold outside in the car! The NBA has become unwatchable!!!

They see disrespectful behavior on TV all day excused as 'expressing himself' and 'entertainment' and 'just having fun' and we're gonna act surprised? Every time you don't call out bad behavior at any level of sport, you encourage it at all levels.
