Excellent pickleball. Great to see Lindsey competing again.
You say "yeah!!" when you smash and get a point, but not when your opponent make mistake.
One of the greatest inhibitors of athletic performance is the fear of losing! Riley... your biggest obstacle is your prospective and thus your behavior on the court!
riley newman comes across as a total asshole on the pickleball court and i just love watching him lose. you did great lindsey. get a better partner. thank you ALW/BJ.

Being super competitive sometimes comes off as arrogant and being a jerk. He’s actually very nice if you meet him in person.

@@perproject06agreed cuz I’m very competitive but yelling directly in the face/direction of your opponent is trash. I’ve always been taught in sports to yell towards your own team or away from your opponent when cheering or celebrating

you do know that lindsay complements rileys aggressive court coverage play? she knows rileys game more than anyone. she is an assister and knows her role. lindsay just needs more pro play since she has been out for awhile.

So the Newmans don’t tap after game one and two looking pretty childish doing so. . and then Riley snubs AL at the end. Riley just might be the Patrick Reed of pickleball.

Riley is ridiculous. If he had any credibility people might have followed suit on the mid match taps. . . but no one wants to be associated with him. Hopefully he will find a way to save face and get out of this reputational tailspin he has gotten himself into.

From what I see, that as this game continues to progress, it will be more like ping-pong than tennis. You can see it in this match and watching Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson.
My assessment is that ALW is superior to the others in terms of raw skill and talent. One thing you can't teach or learn, however, is height. Amazing skill from all of these athletes.
I get it that you don't want to tap paddles until after the match is over, but dismissing an opponent because she beat you on match point? Who's the petulant 16 year old here?
Now hand these guys a fly swatter each and invite them to your next barbeque - fly problem professionally solved

Not sure. Since he seemed to establish both feet on the court before hitting the overhead it's probably legal. If he had pushed off like he did and didn't reestablish both feet on the court it would have been a fault. But that's just IMO.

@@McPickleness I saw it happen in another ladies doubles match and was also surprised when lobs resulted in multiple foot fault calls. The reason was the same - the player's first step to hit the lob was a small step forward into the nvz which resulted in being called by the ref on it

@@McPickleness that makes sense, and the rules also indicate that's the case. It seems like the ref has to decide if a full extra step occurred before the step where the ball is volleyed. The lobs in that other ladies match where faults were called must have been not quite as deep resulting in only one or two smaller steps before hitting the lob.
Need to buy the paddle that the Newman is using. Great and entertaining game.

It is called stacking and it is a classic mix doubles strategy. The women are making plenty of great shots.

Ben and ALW are stacking, a classic strategy in pickleball. Having him take most of the balls on many of the points is their strategy.
