Newlyweds in 90k Debt - Til Debt Do Us Part 402 - Get Financially Fit

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Newlyweds Tim and Tonya haven’t been able to enjoy their first year of marriage because they’re so worried about their massive consumer debt. At $90,000, their debt is a black hole they see no way out of. Tim’s convinced their condo is the cause of their problems, while Tonya wonders if it isn’t Tim’s career as a fitness instructor that’s sinking them. Gail shows both the error of their ways so they can get back on track financially.

Gail came into my store in Guelph, Ontario (I think she lives there) about 8 years ago. I was up on a ladder painting over a patch I’d done on a wall. It wasn’t until after I’d come down to say hello that I recognized her. She smiled at me and asked why I’m up the ladder doing this kind of thing? I smiled back bigger and said “no money”. She laughed. She’s wonderful.

I am loving Canadian reality shows they are less dramatic than Americans ones. If this was an American show they would be an extra 30 minutes of shouting, useless arguments about fake divorces etc. This is refreshing no reality TV fluff just some calm people seeking for genuine help and a host who is willing to help.

How do you get married and not review your financial situation before hand? All of my friends had this discussion, I remember my one girlfriend told her fiance he had to get out of debt and save $5,000 before they could set the date. That made so much sense, he had to get control of his finances and it started the relationship off on the right foot. She wasn't saying he needed to make a fortune, or that she wanted him for his money, but she wanted it to be on an equal footing and move forward together.

Got a pack of 5 in a Euro shop. It's like the dollar store on your side of the Atlantic. Have no debts. At the risk of being rude, I have to ask. Wouldn't it be better to pay off your mortgage? With the interest saved, you'd have more for savings, indulgences or charity.

In nearly all these couples, the women are unemployed (housewives), underemployed (part time work), or in horribly low paid jobs (teachers, social workers, care aides, counselors, child care providers, or some other feel-good, pink collar , bleeding heart job that pays bupkis.) If women want a decent standard of living for their families, they need to start taking working life seriously, go into fields that pay, lean in and bring home the money they're worth.

This is unequivocally false. I've watched episode of episode of this show where the women have made anywhere from 2 - 4 times their male partners.

As someone who was horribly underpaid in teaching, this is not something that’s revealed to you in your university education. Teaching degrees at the elementary level are also very difficult to apply to other fields. Encouraging people to move away from those careers is all well and good, but then there will be no day care to help both parents be employed full time and even less support for kids outside of the classroom, meaning the parents will have to take on more of those responsibilities and will have to work less. It’s not the fix you think it is; notwithstanding that responsible spending Can absolutely lead to a reasonably comfortable life even if one partner is working in a “pink-collar” field.

@@thecynic9232 as far as I understand, guidance, coaching, and phys Ed pay much much more than classroom teaching, especially in elementary and middle school grades.

This guy needs to drop her. He could do soo much better by getting a younger, prettier girl. Someone he can shape into a more responsible spouse. Shes already stuck in her habits.
