    Yeah, England running the ball from their own 22 is awesome to see after years of watching them trying to play as little Rugby as possible, I've been told their club teams were quite attack focused and it's good to see it creeping into their test rugby.

    @@RubyDoobieScooThere are certainly more attack minded English clubs than there were a couple of years ago Harlequins Bristol and Northampton in particular Harlequins attacking approach you could say is down to Marcus Smith but in reality we have to give credit for that to the AB’s very own Nick Evans who having carved out a magnificent playing career with Quins is now doing the same as their attack coach and mentor to Marcus

    The experience this new All Blacks team got from these brutality tough games that England gave them is going to pay huge dividends down the line. It’s the perfect start to a new era of All Blacks rugby. The reason the 2010-2015 ABs were so good was because they had experience in extremely tough matches. The post 2015 ABs teams lost a lot of that experience and had too many blow out wins that didn’t really help them experience wise when they got into a tough match leading to loses in the real crunch matches. Anyhow well done England for really turning up and playing well. A team on the rise.

    This game and last week's were actually the only two games so far (as I give him a pass for the first 6 nations) where I think Borthwick let the team down. First game, changed it up at 55 - 60 minutes....and we gave away 6 pens in the last 20 and NZ dominated possession and territory....picks the same 23 (aside from injuries) and the same thing happens. And changing your 10 when he is having his best ever game in an England shirt is mental. When he came back on at 15 England started attacking again. And aside from Slade, Lawrence and I think Finn Smith who kept grubbing, could have recovered the draw.

    I am a kiwi and I love the ABs…(“ Up the WAHS”) but England are a Great unit and definitely showed that they will compete against any Team, Hold your Heads high England you guys are building a Champion side ,I love the new fresh players in this team and the mindset u now have that tries and defence win games…In passing we as NZders sometimes become arrogant and full of ourselves in our comments and in our predictive score lines there was no blow out score lines only 2 evenly matched teams only separated by a moment of share brilliance(aka B.B) so let’s celebrate the Hard combative test series between to tough teams and as a AB supporter we need to be much better going Forward…Well done The English Rose see u for the return Match in Twickers.

    While England didn't scrum well, they did control the lineouts. Really should have won with the posession and territory advantage. Marcus Smith is a world class 10. Really surprising change as he was showing great control. Once again, as you said NZ in the last 20 have that ability to blow teams away and close this game out in style. Should also mention Ofa Tuangafasi coming on with Fletcher Newell and Asafa Amua to really punch that scrum advantage home. Well played England. Once again NZ just too good at home. See you at Twickenham.

    Enjoyed your wrap up Tim, appreciate your observations even though we barrack for different teams. Absolute thriller of a match. ABs won scrums but lost too many lineouts early on. Not much between the sides overall. Great to see Marcus Smith showing his class. Moments of brilliance from Beaudie. The initial call from the ref with the final maul was ball held up over the tryline, which looked to be right. So probably never a try but maybe England deserved a last chance with a 5 metre scrum.

When he touches a rugby ball, things in a positive way for whatever team he is in, happens. He is just an elite level & highly skilled rugby player who always just seems to have time & always seems to create space. AB's always start slowly in a season and get much better as their season moves forward. Thanks, England, for a hard-fought series. Be proud! England are playing a good brand of rugby now. It bodes well for the future. This hard fought 2 match series will be good for both sides moving forward.

    If you think about it many relay teams in athletes put their fastest runner to run the last leg to make up distance and overtake runners to win. Putting Beauden Barrett on in second half was a magic move and won the game for AB's. He had fresh legs and classy moves.

  • @JamesSmith-qr7be
    @JamesSmith-qr7beАй бұрын

    Kiwi fan here. Firstly England were fantastic for two weeks in a row. Tbh the biggest dissapointment was that it's only a 2 test series. I thought the ABs started hot especially mckenzie and we created 2 or 3 open breaks where it looked like a try was undeniably on its way. And as a result of English scrambling and mostly poor decisions from the ABs hot on attack we didnt convert those opportunities into try's which would have potentially broken open the match. However to Englands credit they minimised our points on the board and responded with a try and it was all on. And from there they just dominated the kicking battle and kept us pinned in our own territory and before our bench came on I was extremely worried. Our bench saved us especially Ratima for speeding things up, Fletcher Newall with his scrumming. And obviously BB who was in a class of his own. England struggled in the scrum we struggled with the lineout. The maul penalty at the end was a penalty but if not was held up anyway. And if they drew thats not unprecedented the Lions drew in 2017 at Eden Park. However to sum it up that was a very tough way to begin for Razor with how much our squad has depleted by ABs standards and how strong and well drilled England were that is without doubt the toughest start for any ABs coach in the professional era. Im stoked for Razor to survive it. And every single ABs fan knows it wasnt a case of us just being poor that English team played very very well. They will be gutted but at least you have a squad of players who you can believe that maybe something special is on the horizon in 4 years time. Looking forward to November. Razor you must be releived to have 3 test matches where most likely your heart wont be put under that sort of intensity. That test will be the most uncomfortable for him this season. Losing to SA in SA is forgivable. Ireland France and England at home is not tests we want to lose but not unheard of. If he lost that 30 yr record inntest 2 the public and media scrutiny would have been massive on him. Breath again Razor its time to experiment the picking players who have been there done that experiment worked. But that ABs team will not be good enough in 4 years time we all know it time to make some changes with alot less pressure on the side. I'll rate that series 8.5/10 great test match footy.

    Sorry Tim the call on the mall was correct, it’s probably more that it’s something that seems to happen so often but is not penalised, which makes it seem a soft penalty. I have seen it happen so often in the super comp and not be penalised, I was surprised and pleased to see it called, it is one of the reasons why the driving line out mall can actually be an unfair advantage. It is good for rugby.

    Nice one Tim. I'd be gutted as well in your place. Last quarter England played themselves out the game. Lineouts went to pot, lost a key scrum, but worst of all kicked possession away like 4 times on attack in the ABs half. Marcus Smith did well, overall Eng is a good place I'd say but missed a couple real opportunities on this tour. A small pronunciation guide - it's Um-shlung-ga, not um-hlanger

  • @JimmyKip
    @JimmyKipАй бұрын

    I'm a Kiwi, so will obviously be looking at the decisions with that particular lens, but on the maul I think you have to accept what the referee's reviewed and decided. They looked at it 6-7 times and the first question they had was whether NZ had stopped it legally or not. After looking at it that many times they concluded that it had been stopped legally and so at that point the decision is easy as 12 had clearly pealed off and was thus a classic truck & trailer obstruction. Obviously he's not to know that so would have been playing on the assumption that it was a continuation of the same maul but it is what it is. NZ were pretty lucky to win. The lineout had a shambles (again) and the defensive system was leaving far too much space out on Telea's wing. Whatever Robertson's gameplan to get around the rush defence was, it either didn't work or (as he intimated) the players didn't do it enough. Suggests to me his plan was either bad, or wasn't well coached. Perhaps to be expected given the limited time with the squad so far. Once a bit of fatigue kicked in and the ABs handling started to stick BB was able to ensure the game was played in a way that suited the ABs a lot more. But on the whole I think there are some concerning signs there for NZ fans, and with 5 away games to play against SA, Eng, IRE & France I think we should be prepared to potentially lose all of them which would leave Razor with a 9/14 record for the year, and heck Schmidt's Wallabies could be pretty intimidating come September too!
