Instead of buying a new camera I spent the money on a NY trip. The view from the ferry is well worth it. Lots to photograph in NY
Fantastic video! Definitely one of my favorites. I love the way you explain your images, settings, and “why”. The images are 🔥

Great video! The photo of from the inside of the Staten Island Ferry with the Statue of Liberty through the window was particularly powerful. Thanks for sharing!
Great video Roman, I wanted to say I appreciate how long you leave the photo to display in the video. Your video flows so well and I didn't have to interrupt it by pausing to look at the picture you just made. Beautiful shots and thanks for the helpful tips!
Made our first trip to NYC in June to see our daughter. Your tips from a previous video were invaluable! Thanking you for another great video.
Really appreciate hearing your thinking for your compositions... thanks much!
Thank you very much Roman for the great video as always. Very inspiring. Amazing shots. I loved them.
I LOVE your pictures and your approach to catch the good ones! THANKs for sharing your work and tips! 🙏👍
Great video - love the insights you are giving throughout - the tall buildings and grid structure of the city give some really interesting contrasts of light and shade even in the more open sections of the ciy
I took an exact picture of that car wash in BnW a couple of weeks ago. Great video
This video was very inspiring. I used to live in Manhattan and it made me miss the city so much. Thank you! I absolutely love the vibes of the images you captured at the ferry, particularly the b&w image at 12:21 - incidentally I am reading your book right now. What a great read.
Fantastic video Roman! Highly enjoyed this one
Great video and very inspiring! I need to get out and hit these streets soon.. cheers!
Nice photos, thank you! I think it would be interesting to see the unedited photo first and then the edited one. That gives the viewer an impression of how much editing work is needed to get this great final results.
Incredible video and images Roman, you truly have a great style and approach to your photography 🙌
Excellent video! Felt like I was there, transported to NYC for 18 minutes! You got some especially good images on the SI Ferry! I'm glad you had such a good day out with your camera! Thanks for taking us with you!
Loved this video. Instantly got me motivated to go & edited photos I’ve taken in NY. Solid video as always 👊🏼
Loved this and I cant wait to go back to NYC soon...thanks for sharing this inspirational and motivational film Roman..📸
Great video, thanks Roman !
Nice meeting you at the ferry! Hope you enjoy your visit!
The image at 14:10 is absolutely fantastic. I love how puzzling it is. Is it just a boy jumping? Or is he falling from a hole from another dimension and holding for dear life? But if you turn it upside down, he may as well be falling into a pit…
Great video, those ferry shots are fantastic!
Your Mother sounds like a very wise woman. It's a pleasure (and learning experience) for us to watch you put "Why" into practice with your photography. Also, really liked the music during the ferry sequence.
Thanks for taking us on this walk through NYC. I was planning to take a drive to Weehawken and ride a ferry this week. Not sure it will happen with the temps in the 90s F this week. We'll see!! Have a rockin' day!!

Tbh the hot weather wasn’t too much of an issue. Just drink as much as you physically can and take a break every few hours and you be fine. The biggest issue is dehydration as you sweat non stop
As a New Yorker, I might be a bit biased, but this is my favorite video of yours - glad you caught the wonderful solstice evening light as well (Manhattanhenge). Cheers!
Those sunset shots are gorgeous. Love all the black and white work too.
Fantastic! Love seeing you walk around my city doing your street photography. That kid jumping at the orange square!!! I would love to walk around with you and Faizal sometime. And that car wash in Chelsea is fantastic at night.
The photo at 12:20 is fu©king UNREAL! Absolutely hit the nail on the head with that one in all aspects of street photography.
Great video. Loved hearing about the ‘why’ of things.
Great video once again. You commented on the camera settings you were using but I’d be interested to learn what metering mode you used as well as there were so many different lighting set ups you were faced with. Cheers
Always enjoy NYC videos from KZread photographers.
Glad you could visit NYC. Love seeing the city through other eyes. 👏
Great vid. Fantastic pics and composition
Great video Roman!
I want to thank you because by watching you my favourite set up became over the years a 24mm pancake on my Canon ApS-c, so roughly 38 mm😁 Really like this video👍👍👍
Ferry shots are amazing, the cycle too. I love a Silver Effex type edit if the image is suitable.
So cool! We were just in NYC 2 weeks ago.
Great video/great shots! NY is fantastic for your type of photography. Where did you stay in mid-town? Thanks for sharing!
That was a fun one to watch. I'm worried about how often you have to replace your shoes!
Great session, my favorite is in 14:04, amazing moment.
Loved my days walking and photography NYC. I only wish the storage drive could be found.
Really nice. Thanks for the explanations. Any suggestions for picking up one of those lenses?

Close to the Seattle area right now. Checked out a few shops, and like everywhere, there is no stock. I guess I should just an order in with someone. Thanks again. Love the "why"!
Nice video!!! Cheers dude!
Great setup with the XT5 and the 27mm. Have you tried adding the Fuji Mcex-11 Macro tube to your bag? It weighs nothing and lets you get 0.48 magnification with a working distance of about 7.5 cm. Might be useful for detail shots on your street travels.
very cool. Thanks for sharing
That picture with the guy by the railing (I think) on the ferry is the best shot for me. Tells a deep story. is he sad, having a bad day, relaxing going home going to work who knows but that story can be whatever the viewer makes it.

Nice video. I like your thoughts behind the pictures. Maybe say at the beginning which focal lens do you use and why. Was it only 27mm lens or the 18mm aswell?
1:55 standing in front of a Valkyrie and taking a photo of a reflection of a man. Art.
2:32 ahhh I always wondered what the orange thing was !
Love your walk videos! One question are you shooting RAW, jpeg or both?
Great shot at 09:28. I Love this Video. Great work.
Terrific images! The kid jumping up next to the red cube is pretty special. I'm quite the fan of the three pigeons for some reason. Nicely done sir. Interesting details about your process. Just curious, as an artist, don't you think some of the pictures are "from the gut"? Intent, planning and why are good practices, just wondering if a WTx moment might be in order now and then. Safe travels!
NYC is great for photography. There are some beautiful areas. Some urban decay. And so many people out
Hi Roman, what are you go to settings for focusing, for street photography? Thanks
Some very good pictures ❤
Another great video.. it’s always so inspiring to see you work and see images. New York is so amazing I hope I’ll get the chance to go back someday.
Would you ever do a walking/ photography tour?
Nice video, what gear did you use for video?
Hi, this summer I've planned a trip to NY with my family. I've never be there and I'm wondering if I will need a wide lens in addition to my xf23.
Great Video
Not sure if you are still in NY but The High Line is a great and unique place of photography.
Haha, what a coincidence! I was walking with the 18mm f/2 on the X-T5 in NYC on the 4th of July.
Brilliant thanks
Some nice shots there.
Great video, and New York is made for street photography. The question, I have the older XF 27mm f/1.2 . I've not used it on my XT-5. Is there an appreciable difference between the old and new lenses other than that I must adjust the aperture with a command dial?
13:57 my favorite lately :)
Hello Roman. What’s your take Saul Leiter’s street photography?
where is all that grain coming from ?? post?? so good.
Hey Roman, I have been watching your channel for the past few years off and on. I am curious as to what you do with your photos. Do you print and sell them? Do you just keep them on your computer? Do you print and hang them on your wall or give them as gifts?
Hi Roman, nice video. May I ask does the ambient audio come from the POV camera (for example the transit announcements at 11:40) or some other device?
@snapsbyfox
Ай бұрын
Yeah all audio is from the built in mic of DJI pocket
Were you shooting raw or did you have recipes that you were using for these shots?
Nice video. Pity you didn't ran into Paulie B and the guys, you would love sharing info etc. But I believe he is in LA right now. Anyways , thanks for sharing the goodies.
Very nice 👍🍻
Roman, are your cameras updated to Fuji’s latest firmware? Have you noticed any decreased autofocus performance? I’ve seen all of these recent videos and I’m hesitant to update my XT5. Just curious what your quick two cents are regarding this. Your feedback is much appreciated!
Brilliant bravo 👏

Hi, Great video, aren't you afraid of your equipment getting stolen, New York can get busy. Lovely photos' , thank you for sharing..
@snapsbyfox

Of course. That can happen anywhere and is part of the risk of travel or just being outside. I travel light, have backups, use common sense, avoid shooting at night, avoid dodgy areas no matter how good they are to shoot etc

When I’m in NYC I don’t think about my gear being stolen. As Roman suggests, having your gear stolen can happen anywhere. The thing to keep in mind is there is safety in numbers. If there are pedestrians around you, you are relatively safe. I am more concerned about traffic when crossing the street than having my gear stolen. Watch out for bicyclists. They are viscous. Truly. Damn New York has that dynamic magic in it, I'm thinking maybe for a beginner photographer it could even be overwhelming, what do you think?
@damienfenton3880
Ай бұрын
My advice as a beginner too is to practice photography in areas you are familiar with. That means you can focus on the photography and not the added hassle and distraction of being in an unfamiliar place.
@snapsbyfox

I’d say photography is your sole aim then maybe practice closer to home. If you actually want to travel and explore then don’t wait and go as soon as you can
Excellent work 🎉really love it

Hi Roman, great pictures as always. Any specific reason why you chose multi as the metering mode? Also, are you shooting single drive or continuous? Thank you so much.

NYC along with Porto (Portugal), Istanbul (Turkey), Tokyo (Japan), and Bangkok (Thailand) among the best cities for street photography in my humble opinion.
