After two virtual editions, New York Fashion Week returned to in-person runway shows!
I'm Francesca, a French fashion journalist and fashion video editor specialized in Fashion Weeks and based in Paris, and this is my up-close and personal review of this Fall Winter 2022-23 Ready-to-wear New York Fashion Week.
If you are new to this channel, welcome and please let me introduce you my methodology to provide these Fashion Trends Reviews I edit every season of Fashion Week. First things first, you might not be used to the fashion universe, and you have no idea of what a Fashion Week is. Fashion Week is an event during which ultimate selected fashion designers and fashion houses unveil their collections for the upcoming seasons in a series of runway shows and presentations to buyers and media influencing the fashion industry. It is the most important performance of the fashion industry as these collections define the upcoming fashion trends and influence the entire production line of the fashion trade and surely other industries.
To be in a position to define these Fashion Trends Reviews, I scrupulously attend to every show personally or digitally. New York, London, Milan and Paris, that means more than a thousand shows depending on the season. Then, it is my expertise and experience in fashion which allow me to understand and define the upcoming fashion trends, based on my understanding and knowledge of the evolution of fashion.
Peter Do, the Vietnamese-born fashion designer, who marked his debut at New York Fashion Week by presenting his first collection previous season, presenting a collection of 36 silhouettes inspired by his family's heritage and in homage to his lineage in these times of the rise of Asian hate crime. Titled Foundations, Peter Do who previously worked under Phoebe Philo's era at Céline, designed 36 silhouettes with a vision of reinterpreting the creation instead of creating a new story.
Renowned for his talent in combining aesthetically innovative construction and traditional tailoring, the Australian creative director of his eponymous label presented a collection of architectural silhouettes unveiling sculptural unconventional embellishments, technical textures and utilitarian garments, faces of models covered conveying the mood of the current situation.
The duo of creative directors, Jack Mc Collough and Lazaro Hernandez, showcased their Fall Winter 2022-23 collection of tailored silhouettes in structured garments aiming to answer the question "where will we go next?" and interpreting the beauty in times of chaos.
Michael Kors infuses a dazzling note to this New York Fall Winter 2022-23 Fashion Week by presenting a runway show at the iconic music venue Terminal 5 at Manhattan. "For this show, I wanted to bring the excitement and energy of a night on the town to life - because I think right now, no matter where you are, we're all craving for that" said Michael Kors. Leaning into what the American fashion designer does best, the collection unveiled statement outerwear designed in a neutral color palette, and day-to-night glamorous silhouettes embellished with sequins, crystals and declined in a playful range of colorful tones. "...everything you need for stepping up, stepping out and making an entrance" said Michael Kors.
