Bonjour and Welcome in Paris for Paris Fashion Week Fall Winter 2022-23!
I'm Francesca, a French fashion journalist and fashion video editor specialized in Fashion Week and based in Paris; and this is my up-close and personal review of this Fall Winter 2022-23 Ready-to-wear Paris Fashion Week!
The burning question on everyone's lips as soon as the Fashion Week is ending is: what will we be wearing next season! This time and in time of war, as the war wages on, it may be irrelevant to give the voice to fashion and to stage fashion shows might be pointless when lives are on the line. Therefore, fashion has stood the test of time the cliché that fashion is just about the clothes. Fashion is a reflection of our society, and what is going on in the World.
If you are new to this channel, welcome and please let me introduce you my methodology to provide these Fashion Weeks Reviews I edit after every season of Fashion Week. First thing first: you might be not used to the fashion universe, and you have no idea what a Fashion Week is. Fashion Week is an event during which selected fashion designers and fashion houses unveil their collections for the upcoming seasons in a series of runway shows and presentations to buyers and media influencing the fashion industry. It is the most important performance of the fashion industry as these collections define the upcoming fashion trends and influence the entire production line of the fashion trade and probably other industries.
To be in a position to define these Fashion Trends Reviews, I scrupulously attend to every fashion show personally and digitally. New York, London, Milan and Paris, that means more than a thousand shows depending on the season. Then, it is my expertise and experience in fashion which allow me to understand, analyse and define the upcoming fashion trends, based on my understanding and my knowledge of the evolution of fashion.
"Fashion doesn't matter now" said Creative Director Demna Gvasalia, who dedicated Balenciaga's Fall Winter 2022-23 collection to the climate crisis and the war in Ukraine, performing an apocalyptic fashion show expressing the notion of resistance and reflecting the state of confusion that stormed the world; the image of models fighting extreme weather conditions as a powerful message!
Fashion as an armor! At Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello's statement expressed itself through a peaceful strength with a collection built around the idea of empowering women with a sharper shoulder and heavy menswear inspired outerwear as key elements of the silhouette subtly and elegantly balanced with femininity.
Choose your battles! At Courrèges, Nicolas di Felice embraced the tone of humor to convey how much our phones changed our body language.
The power of the color! Perpaolo Piccioli provoked the astonishment by unveiling an entire collection declined in only two colors, Pink and Black, in an immaculate pink space as an invitation to a moment of reflection.
At Givenchy, Matthew M. Williams pursued the artwork of his predecessor Riccardo Tisci, precursor in bringing the streetwear in the luxury universe by revealing a collection mixing streetwear and luxury.
