Bonjour and Welcome in Paris for Paris Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 Fashion Week!
Against the backdrop of revolution as Paris is literally burning after the shooting of a teenager, Nahel; the City of Light presented a Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 Fashion Week opening to the idea of modernity and relying on the traditional roots of couture.
I'm Francesca, a French fashion journalist and fashion video editor specialized in Fashion Week and based in Paris, and this is my up-close and personal review of this Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 Fashion Week!
If you are new to this channel, welcome and please let me introduce you my methodology to provide these Fashion Trends Reviews I edit after every season of Fashion Week. First things first: you might not be used to the fashion world and you have no idea of what a Fashion Week is. Fashion Week is an event during which ultimate selected fashion designers and fashion houses unveil their collections for the upcoming seasons in a series of runway shows and presentations to buyers and media influencing the fashion industry. It is the most important performance of the fashion industry as these collections define the upcoming fashion trends and influence the entre production line of the fashion trade and surely other industries.
To be in a position to define these Fashion Trends Reviews, I scrupulously attend to every show personally and digitally. New York, London, Milan and Paris, that means more than a thousand shows depending on the season. Then, it is my expertise and experience in fashion that allow me to understand and define the upcoming fashion trends, based on my understanding and knowledge of the evolution of fashion.
Presented on the Quais de Seine and inspired by La Parisienne, Virginie Viard unveiled Chanel's Couture collection paying tribute to the Parisian allure, melding elegance and nonchalance, and though silhouettes playing with masculine codes. And who else than Caroline de Maigret, the author of "How to be parisian" to open the runway show!
Back to the beginning, creative director Demna Gvasalia opened the Balenciaga runway show with the replica black velvet Haute Couture dress designed by Cristobal Balenciaga. The collection went back to basics of couture and subtly married Cristobal Balenciaga's signature and Demna Gvasalia contemporary ideas.
At Fendi, Kim Jones focused on fluidity, drape and shape with the mastery of couture techniques as key element of the designing to bring the elements together. The Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 exudes a contemporary vision of couture and a perfect balance between sophistication and modernity.
Renowned for his love of color and use of saturated tones, Zuhair Murad surprisingly presented a Couture collection which leading mood is gothic and dominant color black.
Dior's Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 collection imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri is inspired by Greco-roman goddesses and opened with silhouettes designed in an ivory color palette and slowly evolving towards darker neutral tones.
Pierpaolo Piccioli hosted Valentino's Couture Fall Winter 2023-24 collection at Château de Chantilly and opened with Kaia Gerber dressed in a white shirt and a pair of couture jeans. The attitude of the first silhouette contrasting with the conservatism of the scene, gives the tone of a collection perfectly balanced between tradition and modernity and explores the vision that Couture doesn't have to be necessarily dramatic.
Entitled "And the Artists", Schiaparelli's Haute Couture Fall Winter 2023-24, imagined by creative director Daniel Roseberry, is inspired by Lucien Freud, Matisse, Yves Klein, Mirò and is a Surrealist's interpretation of a woman's essential closet.
