Somewhere in a parallel universe, legend has it that the Lobster clawed its way out of the grasps of the terrible chiefs meat cleaver. The lobster then tailed him, and eventually K.O’d him😂. Jokes aside agree with all the comments. This chief’s prep was too messy and the longing pain the lobster went through. Let alone the tools he had, just a meat cleaver, ok. Maybe his employer at that restaurant need to give theirs chiefs the right tools and the head chef should also voice it out. If he is the head chef, then ohhhh boy!

Lobsters are one of the best bounties in the sea. That big beast must’ve been 50-60yrs old. And then to meet an end with a cook like that. Shame on him. Brutal end

@@fraderz they do have a nervous system, it’s just too primitive to process pain. It still would have known that something was very wrong leading to it entering a panicked state. I don’t know about lobsters, but the hormones released during panic have been said to negatively affect the taste of fish so I think it’d be better to dispatch it the moment they wanted to start preparing. I’d understand it a bit more if they wanted to use the head as a plate decoration.

You are supposed to take a sharp knife and push it down through the lobster behind the head. That was a cruel and disturbing video. The meat must have been tough because of the way they stressed it out first by shoving a stick up its butt. So wrong!!!

Should have dispatched it before tearing it apart. Seems needlessly cruel. Very awkward and clumsy butchering.

Did you even watch it all, they deep fired the brains and ate it, that’s why sometimes they don’t chop through it’s head. They just sit him in ice water till it’s numb and doesn’t know what’s going on. Even more so they bled this one which is even better. Ontop of all that it’s still just a lobster, there have been multiple studies done on crustaceans that suggest that they do not feel sensations like pain the same way mammals do.

Yep nope I normally don't comment on travel thirsty videos but so much was wasted on this poor lobster that it got painful to watch 4 minutes in. Urgh. The hacking was absolutely horrendous.

If that was a black bean sauce you clearly never had Lobster that way. It's hell of good.

Don't think there is a more brutal way to die than this. First, you get a sharp stick up the rear all the way up. Then the claws get ripped/twisted off. The head then gets split open with a sharp knife. Then everything (still moving) is put into a pot and eventually fried. Still trying to make this look appetizing at the end. Sure, mouth watering....if you are numb.

Please for the love of God find somewhere that actually knows how to prepare and cook seafood properly.. does no one in New York have a clue or just the restaurants you frequent. It's just sad that they took that beautiful mature lobster and butchered it both preparing it and cooking it. If you are going to kill a beautiful creature for food treat it with the respect it deserves and humanely kill it and prepare and cook it with skill. That was carnage.

Yall should use the juices coming out of him in the cooking process. It might add flavor.

Too bad the beautiful lobster is spoiled because of the wrong way to cook it

Thinking the same thing. The meat also didn't seem fully cooked. As they were removing the meat it was kinda stuck to the shell. Seemed gooey more that sumptuous.

Exactly. This restaurant is Singapore style but no one in Singapore will cook fresh lobster in this way. The heavy sauce cover the whole lobster and it is absolutely wasted. First wrong is "fried" the lobster, second mistake is using heavy sauce.

Just because you can afford to open a restaurant doesn't make you a chef. This person clearly had no passion for the job or knowledge of culinary arts or butchery.

The guy preparing the lobster has little to no knowledge about dispatching lobster. What these "chefs" should realise is that what they're doing is animal cruelty and I don't care if they were making food. That's straight up messed up how these people even work at a restaurant.

That dexter russel chinese chefs knife (incredible) can be a bit light weight for that work. They bounce off the shell but are hella sharp. Grab a Dexter Russell 49542 Basics S/S 6" Meat Cleaver. it will dispatch lobsters with ease cuts lobsters into pieces appropriately. try using the "fast kill" method that is an english chefs knife point down through the head then cut down through the face. and the animal dies immediately stops moving. Anybody in the restaurant industry that has done over 100 of these know how it can be.

Aren't there any food security services in NY? How on Earth is that kitchen so dirty? Just that will keep me away from eating in that er... restaurant?!?

Not really, no. I mean, they exist, but people pretty much ignore it until someone gets food poisoning, Ecoli, spots a living roach in their food or sees a mouse run across the dining room in restaurants. Basically, your safest bet for untainted food is Subway or Mr. Subs. Anywhere else and the risks vary from "unlikely" to guaranteed diarrhea. I think it's Gus's Hotdogs where the phrase is "damn good hotdogs but don't look in the kitchen." Side note, in the grocery stores, first make sure that what you're buying has the expiration date printed on it, some stores erase the dates and put stuff back on the shelf, THEN make sure it's in date. P.S. -although this kitchen was messy, this one was actually pretty tame compared to what I've seen other kitchens look like. Just saying.

@@redvalentinos1933 Ooch! This sound quite scary... especially if that kitchen is quite tame. Anyways, we have kebabs in Europe, as dirty and even more as that kitchen in the video; yet I never eat in those snack bars, lol.
