New Year, New Plans!
Hello Everyone, Happy New Year!
After my little break, it is time to get back into the swing of things and I am very excited for my 2023 plans!
I discovered after filming that the Whole 30 Fabric Challenge was created by Pink Mimosa by Jacinta over on instagram.
So if you want to participate in the challenge I definitely recommend using the hashtag!

I'm into multi-part videos. I watch multi-parters from all the makers, and they're awesome.
I love your multi part project videos! Breaking it down into chunks makes it so much more perspicuous and easy to follow, as it makes room for more details. I'm all for not skipping big parts of the process just to fit it all into one video. (Also, you are hands down one of my absolute favorite costubers, so of cause I want more videos)

About 10 to 15 minutes per video is enough to post at one time. Just label each well, so they can become a playlist later.

Yes. We'll watch the shorter ones each time, and then use the playlist later if we are following your lead and making a similar thing.
One project multiple parts please. Reason being is it gives us a better idea of the timeframes involved in the project. Good luck with the destash and be kind to yourself
Thank you for introducing me to 'compassionate deadlines'. Might be right what I need this year... And I prefer more but smaller videos over fewer but larger ones. But it's your channel, so you do you 🌿
Do whatever is best for you. That said and since you asked, I’m a fan of projects broken into multiple videos. (Honestly, it gives better details of the process, can be watched in a sitting or two, and feels more realistic and inspiring than a large project being completed in no time.)
Split into parts is my vote. But new mommas need rest too.
Multipart videos please! I think I might be joining you on the challenge, but the "weaker" one. I can't imagine not buying fabric, because every project I make requires something. Lining, pocket fabric, a blouse for the suit I make. The only project that does not require fabric are t-shirts, as I do have a lot of fabric for those, but recently I did sew a cardigan and had no shirts and t-shirts that would match it (at least those that I fit in) so again buying a bit of fabric. I think that my challenge will be "sew at least 12 things that I will enjoy to wear" mostly out of my stash in 2023 (aside of costumes, those don't count). I can't say loudly enough how I enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for making stuff, teaching us and sharing so much with us. Thank you and best of health to you and your family.
I'd go with the multi-video scheme for each project. So if you have to put it on hold for a while (because Mom, especially when they're itty-bitty, is a difficult job ❤), it will give you the opportunity to look at it objectively, and reassure yourself that, yes, I have made progress!
You should categorize your stash into three 1 regular 2 special 3 whimsy just to take a break before a project breaks you.

Oooooo I like that idea! Thank you Yvonne.
I think multi-part videos for historical costuming or anything more complicated that the average viewer will likely not recreate is great. But for more wearable clothing makes I always appreciate it all in one video. Looking forward to seeing what you make in 2023!

That is a great point! Thank you Emilly 😁
I'll be happy to take what I can get as far as videos. Love your content even though I don't really do much sewing, I prefer knitting projects for myself. I love your creativity and seeing the process is much more interesting that just seeing it all completed.
would love multiples with the videos.
Personally the method one project broken up into several videos makes me feel more like I'm not a failure because I can't whip up a dress in a day, but it does come down to what works best for you. 💜
Congratulation for the baby! 🎉Multiple videos are fine
Multi-part multi-part!!! But it's really what's best for you editing wise :) I plan to only sew normal attire from my stash (like so many sewists the biggest joy is buying the fabric not necessarily using it) so I need to make a dent into that. I won't be doing the 30 challange (that's my nod to compasionate deadlines ;) ). But I won't buy anything new if I only plan to make everyday/work wear, unless it's lining or zips). That being said I do have one big project for May (green tudor outfit) and one for October (possible The Little Mermaid's Ursula cosplay/fancy dress) that I will be buying new fabric for. I hope this will ease my want to buy lots of new shiny stuff. I look forward to the big March project and am intregued as to what the show is you're referring too :)

And yay for compassionate deadlines! 😁
More videos! I love seeing the progress
Honestly whatever is best for you but i love the multi stage videos for a single project.
Split is fine. Do what works for you and your family. Compassionate deadlines, always. I am making my second tailored jacket, refitting the muslin on a button up blouse and trying to finish my first cardigan jacket. Like my first tailored, it looks rough but so worth it. I learned so much! So a couple jackets (inspired by 1920’s but the fit is modern), two button up shirts and. Skirt to mock up. My “low buy” exception is some wool crepe for the third iteration which will be a skirt suit. I have to save to move!
A yardage challenge sounds like a good idea!!! Good luck! I may have to give it a go myself! As for videos, I don’t mind a project being broken up into parts - as long as it’s completed eventually! It can be really frustrating to find a video series (on a specific project) that’s several years old, incomplete, AND the channel has many other videos posted since the last one - with NO update… Sometimes life happens. Or - as with you - it may be a newer series/project. That’s fine. It’s the ones where it’s obvious they MEANT to post a part 3 or 4 (or whatever), but never did. Give me closure!!! LOL!

@@EnchantedRoseCostumes Oh no!!! I did NOT mean to make you feel bad, or anything! 😳 And I did not mean to imply that projects had to be finished in order, with nothing else in between!!! I am the Queen of UFO's (Un-Finished Objects to those who may not know the acronym)... 😬 I was talking about the channels (specifically an antique restoration project) that says Part I, Part II, and then there were YEARS since the end of Part II with NOTHING said about it... AND the item was NOT completed in Part II... And I spent a good amount of looking... THAT is frustrating. 😅 Maybe they will finish it... Five years later? Updates, whether they are for specific projects, or overall channel / life are just fine! And you have DONE that! You just had a baby! You are fixing to move again! Can we say STRESS? I like digestible parts, but whatever works for you! I am doing a big destash this year too! I don't have a very big stash but what I have is excellent quality - no reason not to use it.
So happy to see your face! Can't wait to see your 2023 projects!
Me, too. I see fabric bits at thrift stores, and they simply have to come home with me.
Congratulations! You have a growing family, recovered from an accident, and moved multiple times. Be compassionate. I am reducing my library of fabrics, yarns, and fibers also this year! Smaller videos instead of larger.
I'm giving myself compassionate deadline on my writing projects. I found out some good news that I need to show so,e grace to myself with. My challenge this year is to actually make the patterns I have. Like I can never bring myself to spend money on fabric so this year, I want to make at least 2 sewing projects and crochet 2 blankets, 1 for my niece who is going on 6 and 1 for my cousins' baby girl who is going on 4. Both these blankets were supposed to be their baby gifts. I like the idea of a blanket they can take to college with them. I'm also giving myself some grace on these projects for not being done since I had twins a little over a year after my niece was born and there's been a lot of changes in my life.
I don't have a preference as to whether you do single project videos every so often or split up the project into multiple videos. Happy to watch whatever videos you put out when they come out. :) I haven't been as motivated to sew these last few months. I've been busy with work and had lots of activities going on over the holidays and it's depleted my energy somewhat. I am in the process of making a new Victorian corset (I've lost weight and my old one no longer has any kind of a lacing gap). I'll be adjusting a modern dress to work for a vintage event and then trying to make a bustle era evening gown by the first week of March. I made a bustle and petticoat already, so I just need a bodice, underskirt and overskirt. I'm trying to have more reasonable goals so that I'm not stressing out at the last minute because I planned to do more than I was realistically going to accomplish.
I love when you do multi parts of the project.
I like part video if the are a bit more in depth. I would love to see more about the thought process while doing projects, like it the mockup stage wich is so important and how you come up with idea to fix things that doesn't work. I feel like we see a lot of those perfect video where garments are magically sewn but I do know for a fact that there's so much behind it and so many trails and errors. But at the end I think you should do what your most comfortable with. Also,I'm doing the same challenge, I have been buying so much fabric and I already have fabric to open a store. I hoper that while seeing u I can get inspired and keep working just with my stash fabrics.
I like multi-part videos. Long videos become difficult to watch in one sitting, and one short video on a big project gets too rushed. My sewing plan for 2023 is to not sew anything big, at least until August. I have a baby that probably won't be in daycare before that, so knitting is just easier right now. Also the kids need good woolen knits, since the daycare is partially outdoors.
I personally like 1 video, it's so satisfying to see the completed work and whole process in one.
Hey Marika, firstly, happy 2023! i like the idea of the costumes in parts but I'd go with what ever one is easier for you. AS for my sewing plans. I am going to attempt to stick with set projects. I've all these past ones I've done. Video blogs which have had no continuation because it was either quietly abandoned, delayed for years or have fought me. An example is my silver 17th century wedding gown which has had three or four reattempts and is now needing new sleeves. I've also had an Elizabethan peacock gown planned which is now becoming both a dream come true but a monstrosity to put together. it's had a multitude of revisions, the recent being this morning after seeing the beautiful flower petal looking stomacher on the bodice in a portrait of Queen Maria De Medici of France. I'm also working in the recreation of one of the step mother's gowns from the film Ever after, and that one has had a fabric and color change. Comic-con is also coming and the costume for that is on the list. out of all of them the Elizabethan peacock gown will be the one I celebrate the most when it's completed because it'll be the last time I go super extreme or change a design seven or more times making it even more extreme lol.

Me too.
I love stash-down plans! However, I know me very well, and I know that I will continue to purchase yarn and fabric throughout the year. I know this about myself. So, instead of not purchasing, I am going through my fabric/ yarn stash and the patterns that I own and using up the older ones. I can still buy the pretty new shiny things, but I have to make room for them by working through what I already have, too. I'm excited to see what you create. As for the video content/ breakdown, do what is easier for you. This is YOUR channel. ❤
Great idea! What about sewing for gifts? I managed to find a 3 meter piece of heavy knit fabric to make some of those 70's wide leg pants for my 14 yr old granddaughter's birthday. But if I didn't have something in my stash I would have had to purchase. I guess I would have had to add that 3 m onto the 30 (or 50) yard/meter challenge.
I like the multiple video route... even just sharing a smaller video with an overview of what you are doing, something casual and easily editted? But ... whatever works best for YOU is really the best answer.
I'm embracing the great de-stash and now I know what to call it. I love having a challenge associated with it. Happy Motherhood!

Love to see multi-part videos! It keeps the vibe of ‘I want to see the whole thing’ quite alive! For me: I just finished tailoring school and I somehow rolled into a small project for our national opera 😊 that has it’s deadline at the beginning of March. Then I have several commissions for friends waiting and there may be an internship somewhere! Looking forward to it!
Happy New Year. I personally enjoy seeing how long a project takes. So splitting it up across multiple videos is great. Those projects done in a single video feel like those house renovation shows where everything is finished in an hour, when it actually took 10 months. Ask me how I know haha. All that said, you should do what works best for you. Thank you for all your content.
More videos split up into parts is nice. I like to watch you while I fold laundry. Your lovely demeanor gives me such in encouragement to sit down and do the task and actually makes it pleasurable. So, several little check-ins to see how your project is going would be lovely!

Yup! I go to my small stash first. I am hoping to move again in 18 months or so. So I only buy supplies and only for immediate projects. So buttons and tailoring supplies, the occasional lining, that’s it. You can do it!
Try both formats, certainly. I enjoy segments of 15 to 30 mins in length, as inspiration/new techniques often appear and I stop and start to make notes. I have actually been doing the same challenge, as I inherited the contents of two sewing rooms with many remnants, lots of notions. etc. I have not set any deadlines as I simply have no room for new fabric. I will likely "work along with you" on similar things, as much as possible.
I'm for the all-in-one video. But you know, whatever works for you best 😊 As for my sewing this year. I want to make more everyday pieces and finally finish my Victorian corset.

for mock up fabric, if you really want to save $$ on that, you can always purchase bedsheets from thrift shops to use for mock ups
More videos. One per month isn’t enough - I like watching your work. Have fun finding your sew job again.
I personally prefer 1 part videos, but whatever you decide is the best for you will be an enjoyable watch! I love the idea of compassionate deadlines and will absolutely be embracing that this year. I have a few big projects I want to tackle, but my first is attempting my first proper Edwardian corset 😬 I’m super new to corsetry, so I’m still nervous, but I can’t wait for it to turn out!
I'm more partial to breaking up projects into chunks because then we get to see more of the process instead of weeks squashed down into one 20-30 minute video we got to see more over several 20-30 minute videos and get more time to enjoy seeing things come together. I haven't heard of the destash challenge. I'm not sure if I have 30 yards/meters in my stash to destash with. But i am definitely planning on more destashing this year. I plan to use my linen fabric I got a few years ago and make some summer dresses. Most of my current wardrobe is looking pretty thread bear so I'm feeling inspired to make a new one. There are a couple of projects in want to do that I will need to buy fabric for. One of which is making a new dress for the renaissance fair. And another is doing my dream dress and making Amalthea's dress from the Last Unicorn. Or at least a warble every day version of the dress.
@EnchantedRoseCostumes

The last Unicorn is so good! I wish you all the best with your projects!!
I like multiple videos per project; it usually means I get to see more detail. This year I want to make a linen suit for my partner to wear to a wedding. I've never done pants so I'll also be making a pair for myself to get used to the process. I'd like to make an Italian renaissance gown I might make stays/corset for my mom. I want to alter an 18th c dress I made a couple of years ago. An everyday historically bent cottagecore-y dress. A regency day dress. And im currently working on a Tangled Rapunzel loose cosplay A dress for the wedding mentioned above.
While I always would like more videos from you, I more want you to be kind and easy on yourself. As for de-stashing, I need to do this with yarn - so I went out and bought 14 skeins for a temperature crochet a long. I think the consequences root is a good one.
I love this I also am working to destash and only work from stash it's time to just make the things! Mostly clothes for myself esp. projects that I have the patterns and fabric for just need to make! Plus a couple that I am going to take all the supplies to a dressmaker and just get them to make it to be done with it.
I can get large sized flat sheets for mock ups at my local thrift store. They're $1.79 USD, and after a wash with a bit of bleach, they've worked well for me.
Multi-part video projects are good. I don't always get to watch the longer videos in one sitting!
One project multiple videos is good❤ I'm also hoping to use my stach this year, good luck!
Try both and see what works best for you. You could even alternate and so one whole (because it is a small project) and broken up for a larger or more complicated project.
I love the Whole 50 challenge and I can’t wait to see what you make for it! I’d love more small videos over one large one every once in a while because I like staying in the loop :) But I’ll watch whatever you put out :)
Ah...compassionate deadlines, out-of-control stash, destashing... these are common themes in my life. Thank you for sharing your current thoughts and situation. You do what works best for you. I do like shorter part videos though.
I like to see you on the regular, so segments are completely fine with me. But being a mom should take precedence. Do what works for you and I’m sure we will all be grateful. ❤
Sounds like my craft room 😮😂😂😂..do what makes it easier for you! Be well!
Multiple part videos are great,
My vote is for Multiple parts.🤗💚
I like the idea of one project per video. I just don't know how you can do these projects with a new baby and your other kiddos and your hubby and your house and just life in general. You are a brave lady to try. Don't beat yourself up if you can't get it all done. I know I will still love you no matter what happens.

It definitely isn't easy to juggle, especially with having 3 little now. But I love creating, and it is such a nice feeling to be able to wear my creations, and be proud of what I can accomplish in the time that I have(even of it is only 15 minutes a day).
My Covid "Retail Therapy" has resulted in an entire closet full of totes of quilt precuts and yardage. It is so difficult to keep my fingers off the add to cart button. Now to work through all that fabric. I'm not short of ideas, patterns, machines, or supplies. Just time.

Oooooh so brave! I will have to ponder this challenge a while longer before i could commit to jumping on board. But, cool! As for videos, im perfectly happy with them being in sections of the project. Im still learning and the idea of videos being more focused on individual parts of an outfit is appealing to me.
Do split projects up, that makes it easier to get more details of the process. And do go easy on yourself!
Two moves in a single year? That's brutal! We moved last year after 8 years in the last house and we swore we'd never move again. I can't imagine trying to do it twice in such a short span. Personally, I prefer videos to feature complete projects (or at least discrete components of a project) but the algorithm much prefers frequent uploads. I'd go with multi-part videos were I in your position.

I like seeing the projects in parts rather than one big video. Might be more work to create multiples though. Still, if multiples are easier, go for it!
As a viewer I prefer to see a project from start to finish. U could pivot to stories. Short videos that give us an update without focusing on providing a final product. For instsnce: if your over project is a dress, in a short u can show us how to pick the right trim, and what finishes is best for the project. Or applying lace to the front, u just share a part of that process. Hope that makes sense. ...I understand that with a pull back on publishing on KZread, it can effect your income earning. So hopefully more short videos with "status update" as the purpose/focus, it will be more manageable. And since you're updating us, you won't be bogged down by viral potential of each short.

I’m good either way whichever videos are easier for you. I enjoy all your videos so I’m sure I will enjoy whichever you do. I’m not ready to be all in on the destash stuff. I will keep track of what stash stuff I use this year. My stash includes all sorts of odds and ends so it might be a crazy list.
I also watch Lady Rebecca Fashions and her projects over multiple videos works fine for me as a viewer. I think you both perfer different styles of video production, and often produce videos in different genres, but the basic notion of a project lasting more then a single video has never bothered me / I actually never thought about it as a point of consideration when watching other channels. Your stash busting is making me think I need to try to do so too; My hoard is four storage bins and It really should be only two at most. The projects I really need to do (for a functional wardrobe) revolve around making underdresses/chemises, which really could be made from pieces of the stash instead of buying new in all honesty.
Please split videos into parts. It feels better to view your progress more often than only seeing you once a project is completed. Your presence is appreciated. Personally, I’ve missed your videos.
I would like you to do whatever works best for you, but if pressed, my preference would be to have progress videos more often rather than wait for full project completion. ☺️
Which is less stressful for you? I think either way is good, and you should go with whatever is easier.
