An important point which you mentioned but slightly skipped over was the wheel nut spacings and the curious way of measuring this.

love the video guy, the van will be awesome when its finished. Little tip, take down the headliner over the cab and insulate well. (maybe you did already). i didnt do mine and when in cold weather touring the condensation will roll down the liner and into the cup holders!!! Definitely worth the time and effort. Just finished doing mine today. cant wait for the next video.

Welcome to the BF Goodrichs Ko2s all terrain gang. I have mine nearly 2yrs now on my 06 Renault Master campervan. Great tyers mine are 16". Wouldn't swap them for any other tyre. All the best with u'r conversion from Irish vanlifer here in a damp Irish Midlands.

Well presented video Shaun, only Reading is not fairly central to us in Northumberland 🤣😂, but may consider them for our new Burstner, if it ever arrives.

Love the new wheels (our Twisted Land Rover 90 and VW T6.1 Campervan both have BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres on them) but only someone from down south would say "Reading is fairly central in the UK"! 😂

Have a look at Toyo tires. Cost half the amount of popular tires and are very good.

Good work on the new floor for van. Wheels and tyres look great. Interested to see how the trail tyres look on a crafter, I’ve been thinking of getting same for our GC680 whenever it gets built… I have the BFG all-terrains on my Hilux, but don’t really want them on van which won’t be driving stuff Hilux does, and the 3-5mpg hit. Hoping the BFG trails less impact on mpg, and ok in snow and some tracks and fields etc

I laid my crafter flooring but it got splashed with paint and stuff from the build so I tore it up and fitted one in after the units were built. Be so cool to watch your build.

We have the same wheels. They look ace on. They are fuel zephyrs btw.

Remember that if your new wheels are larger than the originals your Speedo will read your speed low, and the gearing ratios may be effected. Steve

In case you do get a flat on the side of the road, try moving the handle bar to mostly one side of the socket instead of equal length on either side. You get better leverage that way and may not need a breaker bar. :)

I'm wondering if it's affected the gearing and altered the speedo reading. Also load ratings are temperature sensitive. I've seen rated tyres start to delaminate with a full load, 35c heat and 70mph speeds.

Looking great Shaun. How are you finding Trail Terrains vs the All Terrains you had before on the T6? Noise, handling/ride, MPG etc ? Really fancying these tyres for our new van, in due course!

So far so good. I’ve only done one reasonably long drive and they’re very quiet and they definitely improve the ride. However the ATs we had on the T6 were very quiet when we first got them, they then got louder as we put more miles on so until I’ve done that with these it’s difficult to tell. They are rated quieter than the ATs so I’m sure they will be better

did you have to fit a spigot ring for the hub or did the wheels come with this pre-installed?

Did The wheel supplier install metal stem tpms valves when they supplied your wheels?

Do you find water collects in the rims?

Did the defender go? Apologies if you’ve mentioned it before!

Do you have lock bolts for them ?

These wheel and tyres look great on your van! Just wondering how the wear on the tyres is doing... the Trail Terrain tyres have a (relatively) low maximum tyre pressure (44psi) and there are reports of excessive/rapid tyre wear on heavier vehicles such as campervans. I have a Hymer Free 600S Campus on order and hope to fit similar!

We haven’t done enough miles yet as the van is still being built so can’t really comment on the wear I’m afraid. We will get away in it a few times this summer so will assess it again after we’ve done a few trips

Bottom Line is Regardless if the Wheels are Bad for the Vehicle, Free is Free!

What aspect ratio did you go for and why as wide as 275's? How did it affect you speedo?

They’re 245/65R17 and the Speedo is almost exactly the same as GPS recorded speed

Great video. However I'm surprised you fitted such a low load rating.. with an xlwb you will probably be running at near or over the rear axel limit. Not much margin on safety there. Best of luck but I would put money on that rear axel being near 2T once you are fully loaded.. Look great. What's the road noise like?

You’re breaking the law if you exceed the axle load limit regardless of what tyres are fitted so providing the tyres are rated higher than the axle load limit, it is legal

@@ABusAndBeyond of course... it just doesn't give you scope to uprate the van if you need to.. plus giving you a larger margin of safety. Given that a higher load rating is available with the same tyre why not go for it?

There isn’t a higher load rating unless you increase the profile, which would rub on the inner arch. We did say that if we have to up-plate the van, we would probably have to change the wheels and/or tyres

FYI, knowing that everybody in UK uses this weird load rating formula, which ingnores the laws of physics, and just asumes equal tyre load on a moving vehicle (emergency braking, going steep downhill or uphill, turning sharply) etc, us in the EU have to follow the vehicle’s CoC (Certificate of Conformity) listed tyre sizes and load ratings, and 111T on R17 wheels would not be legal… Actually on our XLWB Crafter (140bhp Auto) the only legal17” tyre is 235/60 R17T 117R… So these tyres in case someone checks would not be legal match for that vehicle in the EU…

Wouldn't changing from 16inch to 17inch mean that you kilometres and speed will be different?

Have you informed your Insurance company? Different size and non-standard maybe an interest to them. I have just fitted genuine wheels to my motor,albeit an inch bigger and they noted it on my policy.

The rolling radius is different so I wouldn’t risk it. Plus there’s a water tank where the spare wheel was now so we don’t have a spare at the minute anyway 😂

Nice alloys…. The tyres look like protrude beyond the bodywork.. Check out the plastic arches you can fit..

Quick geography lesson for everyone, Reading is most certainly not central in the UK 😂 only a southerner would make such a remark! There is a whole world looming once you go beyond Milton Keynes. Lord help those that are in Carlisle, it must feel like living on the polar ice cap so far away from the ‘central’ region😂
