Great how the same process used for the new quasi Plafond knot van be used to tie ABOK #803 except for going in the opposite direction for the last tuck. I have found the method shown in ABOK more fiddly and less memorable. So with this technique I can tie 2 knots. Very inventive - Thank you för sharing. And of course I could tie ABOK #784 mirrored to create the same knot but I love to have several options.

Yes. Thanks for your input Mabel. Going back to ABoK and what you have just written has helped clarify it in my own mind. I didn't realise before that #784 mirrored was the same as #803.

WhyKnot I only noticed recently when I wanted to use #804 as a bracelet knot ending. It didn't work with the soft Bobbiny rope so I used #803. Thanks to your correction of the mistake in the #784 drawing I had a bit of an exposure to these knots and have gotten a feel for them. I even created my own - calling it #785A because it was found while I tried to tie #785. Btw, your new quasi Plafond knot got many likes on my Instagram account.

On page 116 of abok. Knot 671 Ashley writes the wall knot is the exact reverse of the crown. OK. But then he makes a mistake by writing that if either of the knots is turn upside down becomes the other knot .this is a fallacy they rotate in different directions wall clockwise crown anticlockwise. Also knot 1203 is a wall knot not a left handed crown.

This knot is 803 of abok. Which is a wall and diamond knot .if you tie your granny knot the other way round it dose make a crown and diamond knot.

Yes this is Abok #803 it is the mirror of #784. You are also correct that if you tie the granny knot the other way you get the crown and diamond #784. Both knots are however a crown followed by a diamond knot. One left handed one right handed.

Actually ABOK #784 and ABOK #803 are identical - the one different is the direction. They are mirrored. As you tie this left over right instead of right over left as shown in ABOK for the crown and diamond variations of course it is orientated as ABOK #803. Obviously even Ashley didn't see that. Another riddle solved. Thank you for the instruction, Tom. It is not easier or faster, but is quite interesting and the technique bears remblance to the Jug Sling knot.

The crown knot goes anticlocke wise but the wall knot goes clock wise

I've always known a wall knot to be an upside down crown knot. It too being able to be tied both clockwise and anticlockwise.
