New Watch at Timefactors! Smiths Transglobal Follows Universal Genève Polerouter. Review.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This video features the new Smiths Transglobal watch, made by Timefactors (well knowns for the Smiths Everest), which follows the famous and legendary Universal Genève Polrouter, designed by Gerald Genta. In a review I go over the design of both models, the history behind the vintage watch and make you familiar with specifications, materials, availability and price.
A great source for collectors of the original vintage watch is:

Beautiful watches! Finally managed to order mine in royal blue, very excited to receive mine.
No micro rotor? I will have to live without him I never imagined a polerouter in salmon color, and I have to admit that it looks very nice, although I feel that in general going from 34mm to 38mm was too much, 36mm would be better.

Kudos for getting these first to review. They do look nice and the value is alway there with Timefactors watches and straps.
Review was good, reviewer dapper. Great late spring look Tim.
I just put down an order for the black dial from timefactors. So thrilled, keep coming back to this video just to see it, can't wait to have it in hand. 🥰
The salmon dial is a pale red/orange, right opposite the blue on a colour wheel; that's why the salmon goes so well with the blue striped cuff.

Great stuff, Tim.
I love the SMITHS TRANS-GLOBAL - PRS-54 SALMON, such a beauty !!!
I really like the clean look of those dials and the retro styling, the color combinations are great too! 👍
These are perfect, can't wait to get one!
Wow...they are nice, especially the tux! Didn't expect the screw-down crown feature on dress/casual pieces...awesome product, Smiths is planning to put out!
36mm, sub 11mm thick would of been perfect. However, I’m very interested in the Salmon dial 😉

Agreed! Kind of bummed they aren't 36mm. BUT I loove Polerouters, so def gonna go for one!
After seeing all three watches, my personal favorite was the cream/white/gold with the red strap. The strap color could definitely change the look. The red is a fun color, allowing it to be worn with more casual clothes (jeans, polo shirt, and blazer/jacket or even a light jacket or windbreaker). Changing to a black or brown strap would make the watch appear more dressy. Very nice watches!
Absolutely beautiful watches. I'm loving the red then the black - but they're all great.
Wow great watches, they are doing great job at bringing back legendary designs. Black tuxedo style dial is my wish list
It makes sense that salmon dial works with the light blue. They are good matches on a complementary colours wheel. I recommend looking up "complementary colour tool" online - any will do. They are used a lot by designers to make things look good.
They are beautiful. Hard to choose just one. Only gripe is the slight thickness considering they are dress watches.
Great video - thanks. It's funny, when you showed these off the wrist I was absolutely thinking black dial, cream dial, salmon dial in order of preference. As soon as they went on the wrist, my choices were exactly reversed, with the salmon dial really working well and the black tuxedo version looking a bit flat. Great watches, great price.
Great review Tim. Nice watches. Hard to select the best one. Each has it's strength.
Great review as always. These are very good looking watches with great proportions. Time factors did a great job with these. Three very different looks, the Black is super dressy and the other two can go casual to dressy. I am happy to see salmon dials making a comeback. First Island watches (which sold out in 1 day I believe) now these.
Wow,it does look a lot bigger on the wrist ,very nice, totally agree with your 1,2,3 choices with colours.
I like this design a lot, and with original Polerouters in clean condition going for high prices, this just might be something I would consider.
Looks fantastic. In a world full of dive watches, it's nice to see some other options in the market.
Wow, those pieces are beautiful ! 😱😎

Another great series of Smiths watches. Salmon dial didn't win my heart, but those black and cream dial centers with gold indexes - those look just amazing! Also prize of app 340 EUR seems reasonable (customs sucks ;) )
Beautiful watches especialy the black one, great review as always.
Stunning watch. I think a Salmon dial is in my future. Thank you Tim.
I'm not normally a big fan of salmon dials but this one is a real thing of beauty. I would have a very tough time picking between the three of these
It's a Smith Unicorn 🦄. You hear stories about them and they're beautiful. You see them reviewed, but you never see one in the wild. I'm English and even here, they're difficult to get your hands on. Also, from what I hear/ read, customer service leaves a lot to be desired..but that's not from my own experience as I don't own one. My next watch will be the Muhle Glashutte " Seebatalion".. if I can pass basic training.

O Tim, these Smiths pieces are so wonderful (and affordable). You cost me a fortune with al these stunners. I noticed this nice Django "hommage". Thank you !
Those are absolutely beautiful. Hard to decide on just one!
The Tuxedo looks like a copy of my original 1955 Polerouter Bumper (which I found last year in wearable condition). I love that GG design, which works still 65 years later perfectly! From the „replicas“ I would prefer the cream version (which differs enough from the US polerouters)
Love the Smiths watches. Cream for me just over black. Really beautiful.
With the US 750 that Seiko is asking for their original-Alpinist reinterpretation (mid august, I believe), I guess I'm waiting until I see the final version of these in september. Great video!
I like the cream colorway, the red strap isn't bad, but would change it on and off depending on what I'm wearing and and doing. Nice to add a little splash with that strap. Timefactors just seem hard to do business with, they open off every so often for a few hours or a day. I just can't be bothered. The cost is under what the US would charge customs. I know there a small company, and wish them luck and be more customer service oriented. The other hope is the use a Miyota 9000 series movement, otherwise nevermind.

Timefactors opens at 2pm on a Sunday, British time, about once a month. It's only open until enough watches are sold that can be packaged and sent out within a month. This is because the credit card reservation is cancelled after this length of time. The shop is typically only open for a few minutes, especially if the popular Smiths Everest is in stock. Timefactors is a very small outfit.
Thanks Tim, nice content 👍.
Such fine watches, gee it would be a hard choice to decide between the cream and black dial.It is nice to see a watch that is not a chronograph or dive watch.
Love it! My choice would be the white dial
Very cool to see someone refresh this popular design! Looking all great, though personally not convinced of larger scale incl 20mm lugs, think smaller like 36mm with 18mm lugs would have been better. That being said, might all be naught in the metal :)
@Mister_Phafanapolis
3 жыл бұрын
I like the 20mm lug width (even if it was a 36mm case) because of the large install base of strap options.
That's great! I literally grumbled aloud about this on a watch chat, that there haven't been homages to the Polerouter since the 80s. Not even Chinese homages existed. I'm glad I can get a Polerouter without vintage problems... Timefactors has just upset my to-buy list :)

Great review of 3 beautiful watches. Hopefully Eddie will PP you that duty, I'm sure he'll get many sales off the back of this. As an aside, a silver dial would be sweet with this one, even better with heat-blued hands. Paired with a BoR bracelet it would make a supreme all-rounder.

I have a few TF watches (and have had a few more), so I'm probably biased, but homages of unicorn watches are EXACTLY where homages are most acceptable, imo. This watch really looks great in person, far nicer than the renders suggested.

Hey Tim- This might be your best video so far; informative, educational, and entertaining, with a little social economic commentary added in. First, you will have noticed the issue with the designer sending three watches: difficult to choose. I think I prefer the white/cream dial. I really like the overall design and aesthetics. I will seriously consider buying when they become available, assuming they don't disappear suddenly. Plus, between now and then, I hope the designers will sit down and ponder the strap options. Second, thanks for the history lesson. Very interesting. Third, I always enjoy hearing about low-level bureaucrats prattling over one little thing or another. You paid customs upon receiving. Does Timefactors also have to pay customs on the return? In any case, the consternation is not worth forty bucks. And that is their entire ruse, I think. Most people would not bother. Fourth, Mac? And fifth, nice intro and nice outro. Until next time . . .
Very intriguing video and cannot beat that price for 400 euros.
Beautiful watches!
I loved the cream dial!
Beautiful watches and another really absorbing video. You are spot on about UPS and all the other couriers. In the Brexit/Covid age everyone is trying to claw back every penny they can and you won’t find much wriggle room to negotiate. I have managed to argue why I don’t pay for samples in the past with DHL and FedEx by waiting until a debt collection agency is called in and telling them to take me to court where I will argue the case. They never do. But this is changing. And now they are asking for payment before they deliver the goods.
I like the cream dial, very nice watch
These look great. The salmon dial is much more dynamic in the video vs the Instagram photo. Something still seems a bit off on the salmon, maybe it is the darker color of typical salmon dials. They are still beautiful watches. If the salmon went a little lighter, I would definitely pick that one up. As it currently stands I'm leaning to the white dial.
Great looking watches
The tuxedo one looks great.
Well done and attractive homage to the UGPR.
Nice review, man. The fact that you namecheck Django and your general chagrin at the end of it are priceless. Malzeit! But in watching this with the shirt you wear and whatnot, I think I'll pick up a salmon dial one. :) Or terracotta, however the case may be. On my colour calibrated HP monitor set to neutral, it came off as what I would say is "Old Pink", but that's a dutch-ism. Wunderbar. Viel Erfolg im neuen Jahr, und schöne grüße aus die Niederlande. May your PC's keep running like clockwork.
Can I buy one now or eventually, and precisely from whom, where and how much. Definitely Salmon, not the others, Salmon is glitzy but mod and restrained .. it is spectacular .. love it.
Nice looking watches, to me the cream is outstanding, odd looking straps though.
Bring back the vintage designs!

I do too. I'm not into getting vintage watches (not talking about mid 90's and up) to do condition and upkeep. I admire those who do. Also TimeFactors needs to be open more, I don't care if buy something and it's going to take two months, I know they're small. But having to get up @3 or 4am to hopefully get one of their watches is not worth my time. At least they email me when they're going to be open.
£300 . I and my GBP are notoriously hard to part . I though you were going to say ohh..... a lot more than that. They are good looking watches. Very good looking. Some might say that my few Seiko daydates/Sealions etc of that period that were once sports watches and are now if not dress watches certainly not looked upon as sporty or tool cover that niche. But if you said that I would disagree . A very good look/size indeed. Richard
Hang in there Tim!
Love it ! But retro design should go with retro dimentions too! if they release a 36mm i wont think it twice and i would buy one with black dial.

Tim you and other youtube legit bloggers are basically giving these companies free advertising. Of which is OK by me. Usually others who show crowdfunding watches not even available annoy me. I like how Borialis does it, pay half, 3 to 6 months later you pay the other half and within days you get it from Portugal. If RandomRob or others who one, it's on their site and you can do the pre order thing. It's also ok to have a split payment.
Beautiful, beautiful watches. I am jealous.......
If bough from the UK for export to the EU they’d cost around €350 because you’ll pay the UK price minus the 20% vat and then local taxes and maybe a little extra for shipping (vat is fairly similar throughout Europe). In USD it’d be around 340 plus import & extra shipping costs.
Hi Tim I really like these pole routers , do you think the black is the most legible dial, as age is catching up with me visibility is an important factor for me. I could buy either black or cream but already have the gold/ cream Longines Flagship Heritage . I love the fact you can buy vintage style watches like these without the hassle of old movement and corrosion on dial. I hear the order process is complicated but for around £300 pound I’m willing to make the effort. Your relationship with Eddy seems to be turning up some really interesting watches. Many thanks John, ps please more music videos.
Great new intro... just my personal preferance but the shoe buffing bit feels slightly clunky.... maybe a different version of the same concept if you want to keep the leather care aspect?
Very nice designs with a good price point. My suggestions: move the text a little outward (consider golden rule). Go with a nice pin buckle instead of a cheap clasp - they are not comfortable.
I want one.
Very nice, the cream with the red strap really does it for me. Great video good to know that government is the same everywhere in the world thieves. Of course it's too complicated to get a refund.
Very nice looking watch. I would pay more to get one with an ETA movement in it.
These watches are gorgeous. However I fear Time factors novelties sell out so quickly I probably will miss out on purchasing one.My pick is the black one.
Small suggestion. I noticed as you held the tuxedo dial and it reflected light the hands seemed to disappear but not as much on the salmon dial... can you maybe add a visibility comparison the next time you compare? Btw this is I think the 9000 series miyota like on other smiths movements which is comparable to eta2824... can you confirm it?
