Biggest change was diverting exhaust plume upwards into to rotor blades where it can be quickly dissipated greatly reducing the heat signature for defense against ground based missile attack heat seekers.

​@@99lebwel It is already pretty quiet, there was an old 1988 noise report study that was put out by the army and was recently declassified and cleared for public release. This is before the new 'black hole noise suppression' system and even before the new IR suppressors and composite rotor design and drivetrain enhancements. In an OGE hover (lightly loaded) the decibel average over soft ground at 1,000 meters was 55.8 db which is pretty damn silent. It even stayed below 70db up until around 300 meters under those conditions.

Some prototypes sikorsky designs had special rotors to reduce noise. That stealth blackhawk they used to get Osama probably had it

It can carry two Stingers on the wing tips or one Sidewinder. The Cold War is over so the U.S. doesn't do it. India and South Korea have air to air missile capability on their Apaches.

I think it's a combo of man and machine, not one or the other. Put the wost apache pilot against the best pilot in an inferior platform and just from abilities alone the, the apache might defeat the good pilot. Machine cababilities mean a lot.

What happens if you destroy one of the two rotors on a Ka 52 and its bulky and complicated pitch control mechanism? If you destroy the tail rotor on a Apache the helicopter can auto rotates to a safe landing. It’s been proven. The Ka 52 never lost its tail it lost part of its empennage (part of the fins). Ka 52 crashes if it looses one of it two rotors. There is video of a Ka 52 that lost its tail after a StarStreak hit. The crew did not survive.
