Great advice! I missed out on an Antique Four poster Queen Anne bed with the knitted canopy included, at an estate sale. Final day, 50% off, authentic antique. I knew the knitted canopy alone was very expensive. I missed it by about 20 seconds. A lady was on the phone with a friend who obviously wanted the piece and she pulled the tag right in front of me and didn’t miss a beat, yapping with her friend who just got my bed !!! I know I will never find a deal like this again. That was a once in a lifetime deal.

Miss Justina Thank you so much for the info, now I feel I can give Hunter a little head start to reading and maybe Mom will join in on the reading also. I would love to read to him also but they live quite far away, so I do not get to see him very often. You spent a lot of time on this and I am appreciative of that. I have always loved to read as a child and as an adult, I even read the back of cans and bottles and just about anything, my history is in the medical field but since I retired I do a lot of DIY so I read how to do books that is how I taught myself to reupholster furniture, also good old youtube videos. Christmas has always brought out the DIYer in me because of ALL the ideas people have. There are a lot of creative people out there, and that watching you and the others strutt there stuff just fascinates me. I feel you are never too old to learn and you Justina are so talented, the eggs oh the eggs what a talent, I do not have steady enough hands to even attempt something like that, I have carpel tunnel I can barely crochet. Thank you so much for your time and GOD Bless you.

I too love the thrill of the hunt. You just never know what you are going to find. I have found many wonderful treasures over the years and have several favorites. A beautiful full set of china from Austria, a early 60s Ideal Tammy doll from my childhood, a late 1800s Brides Basket that is gorgeous, and yes, yet another set of china, Johnson’s Brothers Friendly Village, to which I have been able to find many accompanying pieces here and there, a couple of Hummel figures, and I am always on the hunt for flow blue China pieces also. The list goes on. It’s a fun escape.

I am new at thrifting, I only go thrifting to look for Milk Glass/Blue and White ceramic pieces.. most of my searches has been disappointing because the prices are costly, and majority of the time Salvation Army and Goodwill don't have what I am looking for. However, I do appreciate your tips.

Ah, yes, thrifting can definitely be hit or miss. It’s definitely a waiting game. It took a me YEARS to find a matching milk glass bud vase to one that belonged to my grandmother, so yes, it takes a lot of patience!

I enjoy thrifting for saving money (obviously), but also some finds look so interesting that I make up my own stories to myself of where they might have come from.....who knows maybe that wooden vase really was in from An American Heiress 🙃

Hello Justina... How I wish our area had “thrift stores” .... We have a lot of Antique Shops with ANTIQUE PRICING ! I live in New York State and we are very near to the huge Antique Show that happens in August! 1000’s of dealers for all over the country come! It is the Madison Bouckville Antique Snow... not as big a Brimfield in Connecticut (. I think it is in Connecticut or Massachusetts ??? ). But everyone ups their pricing in their little shops in the 50-60 mile radius unfortunately! I needed an old window for a Baby Shower... it cost me $15 and two of the 6 glass panes were gone! That is what we deal with.....☹️ We like auctions! And I have a few treasures from Auctions! Big furniture pieces! My love is the huge Cabinet with 2 doors and only one shelf and the antique hooks inside... love it! And a couple other big cabinets similar to a blanket cabinet/ closet style. Really great advice for going into one! Maybe it is a good thing I don’t have one! I don’t like shopping either...on-line or out of necessity! LOL!! I have to say....you look gorgeous In “ Jewel Tones” and around jewel tones ! HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, JAYNE! 🧡🦃🌾☀️🌻💛 I hope you have a wonderful holiday. I’ve never been to an auction, but it sounds exciting. I definitely understand what you mean about the antique stores with antique pricing. It’s very similar in my hometown area, not far from the Poconos. They up their prices for the “city slickers,” who visit the area. Definitely there’s a difference between thrifting and antiquing, that’s for sure! Hope you have a lovely day, my Friend! Thank you very much for your sweet compliment, too. Made me smile. 🥰🥰🥰 Xoxo!

Miss Justina Marie, have a 4-year-old great-grandson who started preschool this year and she usually sends me his wants at Christmas thru lists for Christmas at Amazon. I wonder if you have any ideas on educational books for a 4-year-old. She thinks toys are the thing to get him, but he has all kinds of family that buy him toys for all occasions, so I think since he IS going to preschool a good book would be better. She doesn't read to him at night either and I think when my kids grew up they like to read at night. I started reading to my children at night and low and behold they started reading to me. So any suggestions would be appreciated. Education is so valuable, and to start early is to open all kinds of doors. I am a little out of touch with the popular of this time. Could you please help a Great-grandma out? I truly like taking the time to watch your videos.

Hello, Ms. Nancy! Thank you very much for your sweet message. I read it with great interest! I would like to respond more fully, and I will be able to do so later today. I have a lot of book recommendations, and I would like to share with you about the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten challenge. When my son goes down for his nap, I’ll write more. Hope you had a very happy Thanksgiving! ❤️🥰❤️

Good evening, Ms. Nancy! ❤️ I hope you had a good day. I wanted to follow up with you regarding recommendations for books for preschoolers. I can share with you my favorites I read with my son, many of which are classics. Peter Rabbit, Corduroy, The Pokey Little Puppy, Dr. Seuss books (our current favorite is Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?) Ezra Jack Keats books and Eric Carle books. Stories that rhyme, and especially standard nursery rhymes, really help young children become strong future readers, because phonetics-based reading is not the standard teaching method in many public elementary schools these days. Newer books your great-grandson may enjoy are the Little Blue Truck books, Mighty Mighty Construction Site and Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, and books by Matthew Paul Turner including, When God Made Light and When I Pray for You. My son LOVES them, and I think they are sweet to read, especially at bedtime. I'll work on getting these titles up on my Amazon storefront so they are easy to peruse. Also, the public library is a wonderful resource for the little ones, at least the public library in my area. There is a nationwide program called 1,000 books before kindergarten, which is through the public libraries, that encourages families to read together through free social events, educational events, prizes, and more. It may be worth checking out. We signed up last month. I hope you found this helpful, and I truly hope that your great-grandson has a wonderful preschool experience! Like you, I put a lot of emphasis on reading and education because those things opened all sorts of doors for me in life that would have otherwise been unavailable. Hope you have a lovely evening, and thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to share with you my thoughts on a topic that I'm passionate about. XO! ❤️

Good morning Justina! Excellent, well thought out tips for thrifting! Thrifting 101! You are so right about grabbing items when you see them! I also lost an entire silver tea set because I asked the lady at the counter to hold it while I kept shopping and she sold it to someone else! Lesson learned. One of my favorite thrift store finds will be in my video later this week! (Huge piece of furniture 😉) Awesome video! Xoxoxo
