    Cracking video Andy , really enjoyed that one , very familiar ground for me ,i live just outside Caldbeck .The gulley off Sharp edge is known by Keswick mountain rescue as Usual gulley due to the high number of accidents involving folk falling down it of top of Sharp edge . love the tent and new bag .Your right about the history of the old mines in this area , they mined something called Wolfram round the Caldbeck , High pike area .amongst other stuff . Did you know a Ghost army from Napoleanic times has been sighted close by on Souther fell , apparently several people whitnessed it over more than 1 night , several hundred men , horses , carriges etc.... look out for it next time !

    Did Cumbria Way North to South last summer. Definately a good way to do I think. The anticipation of the lakes proper gets you through the Carlisle to Calbeck section as you rightly said...

    Unbelievable view of Sharp Edge you got from across the valley with the mist behind it making it stand out in sharp detail. I have to think whoever gave it its name must've had that very view.

    Nice one Andy - I decided to treat myself to the XMID 1 solid as a pressie to myself for my 50th, I couldn't justify the dyneema version as I don't get out as much I would need to for that one, plus if I really wanted to save a kilo or 2 it would be far easier to shift from my middle aged belly !!! Hope you get some good camps in with it

    Enjoyed that yan on a favourite fell of mine. Pretty sure the gully you spied is Foule Crag Gully - it’s ticked in my winter climbing guide from years ago and is grade 1. I’d be surprised if it’s in condition these days. I also believe it’s referred to as the ‘usual gully’ by Keswick MRT as many folk have come off Sharp Edge into it. Tek care.

    Really enjoyed that one, Andy. Cracking spot for a pitch and I know what you mean about exploring undiscoved corners on familiar ground. Really fascinating and you come across a lot that way, especially the history of an area. The descent path off the Tongue is pretty brutal - a slippery, eroded path through gorse - not much fun!

    I have never watched any of your vids before Andrew but out of curiosity subbed. Highly enjoyable start to finish, very enjoyable and informative. You really have got your kit down to a minimum, like you say if thats all you do and enjoy why not treat yourself. How did you find the condensation from your new shelter, that's allways a concern of mine after selling my Soulo, used to wake up to it absolutely dripping, no matter what I did. Just an idea, would it be possible for you to do a breakdown of the kit you use, we could all take some ideas from that on how to get our base weight down. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers Rob 35:01

    I agree, have just bought a Lanshan 2 Pro myself. The Durston will be slightly better material and weight wise, but at twice the price? Obviously it's personal opinion, and if you want to fork out for that slight difference, but for me I couldn't justify it?

  • @lewiswines3107

    @lewiswines3107

    Can tell youse don’t know much about quality gear. Come back to me in a year once you have rigorously tested your lanshan in high winds. Because I have and don’t get me wrong it’s very stable and won’t fail for a while but give it a year and seams will come loose zipper breaks. Perfect tent if you’re not in bad weather but the quality and the design of durston basically in a nutshell shits on a lanshan

  • @seanstacey3223

    @seanstacey3223

    I admit that I am by no means a professional when it comes to wild camping but I do no a bit Lewis. My Lanshan 2 pro is purely for summer use, I have no intention of pitching it in high winds, I always check the weather before heading out. For any dodgy conditions I have my Hilleberg four season tent and when you're on a budget you sometimes have to settle for the next best thing. Which is what my point was!

    Another crackin' outing Andy. I'm a big fan of the Northern Fells, you usually get peace and tranquility up there. I have bagged Bannerdale Crags but I fancy going up that ridge next time as that looks like the most interesting way up. The water bottle attachment you have on the front of your backpack, can yer remember what make it is please? Cheers and Atb Andy H
