Thank you Wendy. My Big Shot is about 7 or 8 years old...it doesn't always do good for me. My main issue is that turning the handle bothers my arthritis in my wrist and hands a good bit. I got a Gemini for my birthday last year because of that. It cuts well, but it is SLOW and every embossing sandwich I try will not do a 3D....no matter what I do. This new SU! machine will be a God send for me it sounds like. I ordered one and hope it will be here before the weekend. Thanks for the demo....I was a little worried about the assembly.

Check the catalog. There may be die embossing plate/sheet that will be available but isn’t for purchase yet.

Looks like the impression mats that are/will be available will do embossing with dies

Very exciting

I have a bigshot that has worked for years. Bought a second one for classes and it broke within a month. While Sizzix would replace a part. .. we had to fully take things apart to get there. Needless to say... it went to the trash. Really disappointed that it wasnt "replaceable". Love the 3 yr warranty with this.

Hi Wendy, would the old SU steel rule dies still work in this machine? There are some that I just won’t give up.

I'd want to use it with my steel rule dies and hot foiling platform.

Woohoo about the magnetic platform from the big shot! I am wondering about intricate dies if you need a shim??

Can you turn the Old World Paper 3D folder 90° before running it through? It measures slightly wider that way. Or is it too wide then?

But it's a lovely machine so easy to go through the machine.

I've been using a silhouette for a couple of years, but want to try a manual embosser/ cutter. I like that it folds up. I'm a bit confused by the compatibility and all of the older brands. Can I use older sizzix dies/ folders like Tim Holtz or what ever? Or is this just for Stampin' dies and folders?

The extra plate is for the 3D embossing folders....according to the catalog.

Can the old thick Sizzix Dies and the small sizzlet dies be used in this machine?

I’m wondering about the price. Also, can you emboss with stencils? I’ve seen lots of crafting videos that say you can with just about any machine, but no matter what I do, I can’t get my Cuttlebug to do it. I’ve tried shims. I either get an impression that you can barely see or it’s too tight to go through if I add any more shims. 🤷‍♀️

How wide is the cutting area?

Lovely wendy I have a cut and boss mine is electric and it was expensive. I personally rather have a electric only because I break manual machines I am heavy handed.

When you had your catalog spiral bound what kind of spiral did you request. I think I'll do mine like that as well, looks so much easier.

I had mine done at office depot for around $4.00. It has a clear cover and colored back cover

how wide is the opening of the cutting slot/plates?

Looking into either this or the big shot. Joining stampin up soon and I was just seeing if it would be best to get this or use Big shot

Is this made by Spellbinders? It looks very similar.

Used some of the new "mini" dies in the regular big shot and had no problem with them. Just curious if the only major difference would be the embossing plates you wouldn't want to use in the regular bigshot machine. Do you know when these will be ready for demonstrators to order? And is this the mini machine or regular new big shot?

Demonstrators could order them starting yesterday. This is the full size machine. Mini one will be released at a later date.

I had the Platinum and this one is so much smoother, more sleek and the handle/grip is so comfortable.

You used your snips!? Yikes! I have the blue plate to help with the new thinner folders on the big shot

They are not actually identical. Similar yes, as are several other fold up machines. If you put the front on images side by side you will see a lot of differences.

As I mentioned above, they are different. I have the Platinum and this one is so much better. I love it.
