No idea what to believe from the media. Only ever find out what was wrong with the previous generation when the new one is released.
I'm liking this cynical and sarcastic take on cycling.
If im not racing and not making a living from cycling then i sure dont need the latest and greatest. Im still riding with sram red etap 11sp from 2019 i never had issues. Most average cyclist like myself dont need to spend 4k + on the latest groupset. Just my opinion ✌️

The increased reach on the sram hoods is a big no-no
6:21 Have a look inside Shimano manual, or look under the rubber hood of your Di2 shifter. Every Shimano Di2 has both reach and free stroke adjustment. There is no such thing as pad clearance adjustment, only free stroke adjustment on both Shimano and SRAM. Also what was the multishift speed setting on Dura Ace?

I’ve been riding the red etap 1. Gen. For 6 years. I would love to upgrade to this one, if only this groupset wouldn’t cost as much as my 2018 Canyon with Red and Zipp wheels cost back then when bikes were still “affordable”.
@zaphod_beeblerox

but you already have it, 80% of this new (lol) groupset is rehashed gen one
Was waiting for this before deciding on my new bike… was already leaning towards SRAM for dual batteries and gear ratios (and aesthetics). New levers just confirmed my choice.
I will watch and see if in 2025 SHimano can make a power meter that measures your actual power, and a crankset that won't be recalled would be a nice bonus. For now, I'm saving my spare change and pinching pennies until I can afford my new Red dream bike build, cost be damned.
It's funny how reviewers only tell you their true feelings regards a groupset once it becomes the previous groupset, all reviewers over the last 24hrs have only now told us how they really feel about Sram red axs of 2019-present.

skyrocket price crazy! I'm sitting with my 105 DI2, which is good enough!
I’m running 9270. No surprise, it’s brilliant. Ran 9170 briefly, and a thousands of km’s on 8070. Breaking is noticeably superior on the 12 speed stuff. Shifting is also much ‘improved’ - in that it’s smoother and quieter, and as someone who gets a lot out of a groupset, I do feel it shifts better under load. I’m not entirely sure if I prefer the ‘lighter’ feel of the newer Dura-Ace, as it looses a sense of physical feedback when shifting. Ultimately, I would choose any 11/12spd Di2 groupset over SRAM, as I don’t see any area where it outperforms the Shimano counterpart (yes, the claimed weight is lower, but only by a handful of grams). Campy would be my second choice, but I really dislike the WRL grouppo, aesthetically and ergonomically. Big fan of EPS, but not point in buying already outdated bike components, especially with them being electric and needing spare parts and batteries over many years. Choose whatever will make you enjoy your ride more!
there is no double click and long-press on auxiliary buttons like on Di2. the rear derailleur is more decentralized with respect to the cassette. Shimano is more nicely hidden under the cassette. other than that, the groups looks nice and feals great, has made up for a lot of lagging-behind. definitely considering it for the next bike.

The shimano shadow tech is very nice indeed, we’re definitely in agreement there, good point!
I want to buy the shifters for my Rival equipped gravel race bike.
Feature is one thing. Reliability (real world) is another. In where I live, Shimano has abundant support, as reliable as Toyota. They break down only if the rider has been neglecting the bike in extreme case (apart from the crankset tragedy). Subconsciously we know what’s good, but most of the time our egos want to satisfy the cool factor
Just get Rival AXS and upgrade the Crank to a Force D2 spider PM.. Best budget / Performance option and works as good as Red..
I'm still happy with Ultegra di2 11s.. waiting for that 2026 13s model haha
The greatest question since it's electronic which is the better durability for battery and durability?
Shimano is currently working on 13 speed cassette & true wireless setup like SRAM. Could it be for the new Dura-ace?
@roadcc
19 күн бұрын
From the recent patents we reckon definitely fully wireless for the next DA, 13-speed...anyone's guess at this point...we'll keep digging for more info!
My MTB has 177.5 cranks that are stock. I’m 6’2 and have 175 on my gravel bike, I ride with a guy who’s 6’4 and uses 177.5 also. Those bigger sizes exist, so glad sram makes them.
Looks insane shifting on Sram fair play i will never be able to afford it though.
Wireless groupsets unboxing will always be . . . a manual process. No buttons to press here. Open the box yourself.🤣
The one that doesn’t need lots of cables running through the frame that rattle over every bump
Did they fix the front ring chain drop? That's the only question I have.
@pierrex3226

Apparently yes. Chris miller saying big to small now as good as DA, and small to big much better than before. Others tried to get chain drops and couldn't. Big improvement on FD they all say.
@Edmond347
18 күн бұрын
@@pierrex3226 That's good to hear. I had the Red on my Dogma F and could not get it adjusted, no matter how hard I tried. The chain dropping peeled the frame protector several times and I had enough. Cost me over $4,000 to replace it with the new DA, and it's like night and day. The idea that the top of the line groupset drops the chain is insane.
If one is forced to have a non-mechanical Gruppo, I prefer SRAM Red. Still have Dura Ace 9100 Mechanical on another bike and love it with rim brakes.
It feels silly commenting on videos about stuff so ridiculously way out of my price range, but I wish the gap between the chainrings was bigger - 46*11 with 28mm tyres ad 90rpm is 48km/h so it's already an let's say optimistic gear to have on my bike, but I'd certainly welcome a 29ish ring at the front to have a tighter spacing between the gears at the back and still have 1:1 or thereabouts ratio.
My Udi2 11speed is better, its mine. I love it, see no reason to change only when i cannot obtain parts.

Been waiting for the new Sram Red release for a while now, before ordering my new bike. Great news on the reviews! Sadden to leave Campy, which I've been using since 2007. Sram total wireless shifting won me over. also glad to support an American company.
SRAM Red if I have to put it on the bike myself!
Dura Ace 9200 is also available rim brake (9250)
How can you do a back to back comparison without 2 identical bikes with different groupsets.
Next year we will see dura ace 13 speed, and the race will continue.
What I like about this SRAM groupset is the FD and RD are completely wireless unlike Shimano's. What I don't like is the power meter battery being integrated and you have to send it back to them if it needs replacing. I mean why not just use CR2032 like what they use on the shifters.
@jarrodrunciman5138
12 күн бұрын
power meter uses a CR2032 battery just like in the shifters
Tourney to rule them all. Tourney is a real sleeper groupset.
How's the battery life though, has it improved? One problem i see from my pals with sram is that they need to charge all the time to the point they had to ditch some rides because they forgot to charge. Meanwhile i only charged my DI2 4 times the entire year with about 1000km/600miles monthly distance.

Are the NEW RED & FORCE shifters really similar in shape & feel? Because a new SRAM RED shifter is like £500/600€
Sram red groupset 2013 just so good but the marketing is right "Shut up legs, and do what I tell you to do" 🤣

SRAM Red - interesting the larger previously "semi-secret" 54/41 pro-spec rings are now officially available. Does this mean the even more "secret" pro-spec cassette will become official? Or are we still stuck with running a Dura Ace cassette & chain??

“Only reach adjustment on DA”. Lie! I have ultegra 12 speed and it has reach and braking distance adjustment! DA has the same!

And I'd still buy that one in a heartbeat if I didn't like Campagnolo's hood shape and thumb shifters more... I secretly wanted a mechanical SRAM Red for so long - even a 10 speed one so long as it comes with an 11-32 cassette, but I just don't like DoubleTap and their lever shapes.
After the unveiling of the new Sram Red AXS on the 15th I just ordered my second Dura Ace R9250! In my opinion those levers are ugly and I’m not a fan of the clunky shifting. Dura Ace is on point!
At this level, I doubt if anyone would place much emphasis on appearance. But at 07:11, the polished parts, especially the ring accents give the Sram all the look of a Wal mart special. Okay, that's rather extreme, and no offense to Wal mart nor Sram adherents, as appearance is very subjective. But the all black look of the Shimano sets off any bike color, especially the black-on-black color scheme. The polished parts of the Sram? It's rather complicated (visually).
Dura ace is 2900€ and shifts better.
Shimano wins, because it looks better than SRAM;)
In terms of reliability, no sram!! Good thing about sram is it looks cool
5:33 is man serious, or is this a comedy channel? They redesigned the hoods completely which changes braking modulation and allow SRAM not to suck. Even though they still use DOT Fluid.

Older red looks better
given that the new red is rehashed old red and that was crap compared to dura ace , the winner is dura ace
Shimano is my only choice 🤘🏻

Shimano only belongs on a fishing rod. I ran away from them as fast as humanly possible when they started making brake levers that moved laterally to shift. Sketchiest shit ever!

Fully agree
Flattop chain & crank / chainrings are off-putting. Tge different chain standard means you take a risk moving to faster 12spd chains of more wear and shifting issues. Chainrings make it far higher £££ to change gearing for different applications. The oversized pulleys is funny given the cassettes have a less efficient 10spd cog and the groupsets smaller chainrings!
strange review.... why search for artificial problems? on the other hand not the worst I watched
