New School Skater Meets Old School Skateboard!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Finally! After 2 years of talking, we present you with the collaboration of a lifetime - Eric Jump Rope Kuhns, aka Urban Skate Spots on the dang ol' KZread - joins us to see what this old school skateboarding is all about!
Eric is 100% new school and completely awesome at skating and being human and so is the perfect subject to try and stump with a 1978 Powell Peralta Skull and Sword setup! Will he best the board or limp home in defeat? Does this count as cheating on his popsicle setup? How does he harness the power of the Geezer so effortlessly? Watch the video to learn all this and more!
Seriously though, we had so much fun with Eric - please subscribe to his channel, Urban Skate Spots - we can't say enough good things about him!

Love this colab! I'm surprised Eric hasn't skated old school boards before. His style (early grabs, acid drops, boneless's) has always been a mix of old and new. FYI "New School" refers to skating from 30 yrs ago. 🤣

Thank you for the support! Eric is amazing and we are so stoked to have been able to work with on this video! It is funny to think that the new school has been around for 30 years and that the old school isn't that much older!
So pumped to collab with you guys on this and future videos! Note to self: when sitting between the Geezers, don’t slouch. I looked like Benjamin Button between you guys 🤣🤣🤣

Thank you, really appreciate that! We had a lot of fun making this one and had the perfect partner in Eric!
Love watching these videos. I was lucky enough to start skating in the 80’s all the way up to the late 90’s so I got a chance to skate on both old and new school boards. Started on my Santa Cruz Jeff Kendall board and ended with a Zooyork.
It’s funny seeing you in between the two Geezers. Sick video my dudes

Great video! Love this idea. I am going to be in the opposite situation this week trying my first popsicle deck after a year of riding 10 inch old school decks.

Beauty Video! Stoked to find this. I'm 47 years old and skate everyday. My original 87 Caballero amongst others. Keep shredding!!! There is awesome history in those boards.

I usually don't skate anything newer than a 90's set up. My daily ride is probably my corey obrien santa cruz purgatory. Its thrashed. Nothing beats the sound of an old school ride. Can spot it from a block away. Spidey-sense

I forgot about the plastic coping on the trucks haha. And the big plastic bubble under the tail you used to take off so you could ollie. Good times. A basic complete these days is awesome in comparison.

Great job! Mr. Kuhns was an awesome choice for the skating and comparison here. An idea for a future video could be a comparison of an original old school set up compared to a reissue with modern concave, with both boards set up as similar as possible. Just a thought. Keep up the outstanding content!

wider wheels (56-60mm) are better than smaller wheels (49-54mm) imo they just feel better

Lol! 5:40 I work at the place right across the street from there. Been skating since October of 89. But Took the last 6 years off. Got heavy and out of shape. Bought a brand new set up yesterday and I was horrible. I’m having to learn everything all over again. I was looking for video on 95a wheels. I chose to go with those. Bad decision. They roll Waaay too fast and I couldn’t get them to break free from almost any surface which made for a hard day.

@@GeezerSkateCo I did. When I got home I put my Guy Mariano Spitfires with Lucky 7’s back on. Just haven’t got to retest them yet on the new deck. I have a 7.25 and moved up to an 8.

Now the question is were the old school skaters better because they created new school skating like natas etc.with old school boards
@GeezerSkateCo

That is a great question - Natas, Ray Barbee, Mike Vallely, Jason Lee, Frankie Hill, etc. all rocked the streets with boards as big and heavy as a suitcase and made it look easy! But then I see Erick Winkowski keeping the old school flame alive and I don't know what my point is, but I love seeing the new school riding old!

They are - they’re called “copers” and were popular in the early 80s. They fell out of fashion when skaters wanted to get their boards as light as possible for street tricks. Really hard to find now
