Philip and Khamsin did a great job on this little bird. The XP11 version was already one of the best birds in the sim.

Would it be possible to create a video in the future especialy for flying EMS Helicopter starting and landing in CTRs with procedures like crossing airports, atc etc. (Maybe in the area of EDDH). -1 for me : No price reduction for the xplane 11 owner, i don’t want paid again 100 % cause its the same... For example, Cowansim give free update for xplane 12 about the last H125...

There is no way I will buy this again. Just bought it 2 Months ago for X plane 11. They could have given existing users the free update. F... them

As a long-time real world fixed-wing pilot, I've pretty much been flying transport category aircraft but I've been intrigued by accurate rotary wing simulation. I do appreciate your "Nerdy" approach since I'm also an engineer. You've got a lot of rotary wing aero knowledge that doesn't seem to get imparted into much of the simulation training so I'm now "subbed" to you. It's good to hear that XP-12 will raise the standard of aerodynamic realism further. When I get the chance, I'll probably add my first pay-ware helicopter. What joystick do you use for a collective?

Glad to have You on board. A full sized replica of a 206 Collective by a little austrian firm called OE-XAM. I also sometimes use a very cheap modified desktop joystick to control collective pitch. Cheers

A correction: The pitch indicator is not a manifold pressure gauge and thereby always shows only the position of your collective and in contrast to what I say in the video it does not move during take-off...

Another great video. After your last video I've been flying the R22 in XP12 a LOT lately, certainly improving my hover game (and making me really wish for a "real" cyclic and collective). I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would (I don't own any Robinsons for XP11). I'm holding off with the big investments into XP12 for now, until the beta has progressed a little bit more, but I am really enjoying it. Unfortunately my Rift CV1 is currently inop (the cable finally gave out), so I can't fly helicopters. I know that sounds peculiar, but getting the thing transformed helicopter flying for me, and I can't go back (also this halts my sim racing as well as air combat, but I don't really do that anymore). A bit of a bummer, especially right now.

Glad to hear. Yepp, I heard about issues with VR. I need a more powerful system before going down that road anyway. And I heard there is no turning back 😄. So for now still happy with my flat screen flying. As of now all helis in XP12 are not overly sensitive so getting real sized controls probably doesn't improve things as much as it did in XP11. Ugh, 360p. I'll have to come back once KZread have processed the HD version. :) I like the look of this chopper.

I have tried the Cowansim H125 on XP12 and it exhibits the same characteristics as what has been described in this video. Its noticeably more stable compared to the XP11 version and the loss of translational lift also caught me by surprise as the chopper sinks down rapidly

After several more flights, I found that the trick to avoid the chopper rapidly descending with the loss of translational lift is to gradually increase collective as the helo slows down. As the aircraft slows down and descend, add collective little by little and by the time it reaches the point of loss of translational lift, it will settle into a hover nicely without any big jump

I like your point about the difficulty in controlling an aircraft not necessarily meaning it's more realistic. I can hover a actual R22 no problem but I have a much harder time hovering one in XP11. Back when I was at flight school I bought a realistic control setup hoping the sim would give me some inexpensive practice. Nope, the model is far too sensitive compared to the real thing. And I'm told the R22 is one of the twitchiest helis there is!

Yes, I heard that a lot. Still I like the very responsive FM of XP11. Teaches You to finetune your micro-inputs. But yes, so many aspects of real flying missing...sense of balance/seat of the pants, peripheral vision, inertia...

A lot of sims seem to have this issue even with models that correlate very well in transient. Be it cars or aircraft. Professional sim gear bridges the gap a bit but I've had this issue communicated to me often. Soon 10 years in and still haven't entirely figured it out.

for performance: disable hyperthreading in your bios. xplane 12 will run much faster without it. (2 mainthreads on different cores, then). solved all my fps issues

Speaking of Aerospatiale helos- I wonder if the 365 will eventually make an appearance in XP12? I hope the terrain is collidable by XP13- "It's a flight sim not a crash sim" I see Xplane simmers say a lot- maybe in a 747, but certainly not in a crop duster or utility helicopter- collisions matter.

One query about density altitud, you got three thousand meters so, between what values in this chopp we should be in troubles? then in the inner scale you put 3 value, why? 3 is because of the 3000 meters? and 95 % of limit pitch is the GP? It means gobernor pitch? Then in the upper área of the gauge i can read .7 .8 9 1 PAS, what is this? Finally you name this value 2200 kilograms but the tiny arrow is in 18, 1800 kg, where do you get 2200? This gauge is automatically set when you load a flight or we must set it properly? Hope me must do it, i hate automations.. Don't you know if the Everest Park 3D FDainese scenery works properly without issues in XP12? You are really the best, take care my friend!!!

Hi, Yes I take 3 because that's the DA (3000). 2500 would be right in the middle between 2 and 3 on the inner scale. For higher DA, say 6000 for instance max allowable pitch will be 100%. You will be limited on turbine temperature as far as I understand. Ignore the little white arrow on top. I entered the outermost scale in between 9 and 10 (95%) and read 2200 Kgs on the scale below. Yes, you can deactivate automation within the Options-Pad. Check out Daineses Forum in the payware support section if the x-plane forum for information about his sceneries. Cheers

Check out this video I made showing the control setup I use. What You would want for helis is a reasonably precise Joystick for the cyclic (used for pitch and roll) and a second one for the collective (only one axis needed and usually reversed so fwd means collective down and aft increasing coll.). Finally enough a pair of rudder pedals to control the tail-rotor (Yaw). Start out with no response curves (linear). Cheers Simon

@@chrigel100 In XP11 the ingame video-recorder didn't capture any sound. Maybe they didn't change that yet. You would have to use a screen capture software for good video and audio quality...I suggest OBS

Why does everything bounce or look jittery in Xplane 12?

(With weaker Systems) helicopters can bounce or move while on the ground. Try to up Your Flight model calculations per second in the settings menu.

Nah. It's not one of my favorites in xp11. Free upgrade or small fee I might try it. But not gonna buy it again for 12.

Those mountains look like trash compared to MSFS.
