I actually got the shelf for Christmas. I bought the starter kit as well with 2 rails, 5 hooks, and bucket. Very easy setup. I installed them in my basement for the winter, then will move them to garage for the warmer months.

I agree about the tool shelves. My use case for the tool shelf would have flush sides (exclude the screw driver holders). That would potentially allow us to place multiple tool shelves side by side with little on no gap between them.

Personally, I think making it optional with a punch out on the sides , (kind of a insert tab A into Slot B type of thing) to slide them in if wanted would be better, and then at the bottom add an additional lip like in the other four cavities, so that you could hang a second one of these in place next to it and gain an additional slot. Obviously this would negate the use of the screwdriver holder (except for maybe some stubby drivers) but as we have seen, it is a bit on the weak side anyway. Just a Thought Royobi...

Also wold like to see a hybrid radio with a battery charger built in, so it can charge a battery while plugged in to AC power, but also run off Battery when not plugged in. Same fore the tripod lights and cannon fans.

Yes, Link mount for chargers PLEASE! It would be interesting if they came out with an adapter that allowed you to plug in a tool and a battery at the same time. Essentially turning any tool into a hybrid. Might require some kind of switch to go back and forth. Or some kind of additional contacts like the EVERCHARGE system.

@@shadvan9494 This!!! I’ve always Ryobi to make a supercharger that also doubled as a job site/portable radio & Bluetooth speaker. Now if they could make it attach to the Link rolling cart and the Link rails, I believe that would be the killer app for both the Link rolling cart and wall systems. I can only dream at this point though.

Is there any thin rubber material that could be used to place on the edge of the slide tool holder that would protect the tools while placing them into and removing them from the slides? Are there sheets of material that could be cut into strips and glued to the slide areas for tool protection? Thanks for any comments on this possibility.

New subscriber, thank you for the great info. I noticed your wall of batteries, is there any negative impact to having these on battery all the time. I've seen other brands that don't do a very good job causing the battery to slowly drain faster than having it off the charger when its fully charged.

  • @SolelyRyobi

Great question! Most modern chargers and batteries have technology to help charge the batteries in a smart way. Meaning that it will periodically check the battery and trickle charge it if needed but won't constantly flood the battery with power like we were used to in the past. That being said, it is not recommended to keep a battery at 100% all the time. Even if they are on a smart charger. To help keep the batteries lasting longer, we do two things. The first is labeling all the batteries so we can use them in a sequential order (as much as possible). The second is we turn off the charging wall for periods of time so they are not constantly being topped off. If you plan to store batteries for a long period of time without use, the manual recommends 30%. That is also why when you receive a battery, it will typically have between 25-30% charge. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

I have recently subscribed because I like the way you are unbiased in your appraisal of these products . I like Ryobi as it is affordable for the occasional Power tool user . I did not buy the Ryobi tool cabinet as it screams " steal me I'm in here" . If i got broken into . I bought a better quality plaine cabinet

Thanks for watching! Well, we all still have some biases but we definitely strive to be honest and point out when it is “our opinion”. And as much as we love Ryobi products, we are realistic about their quality, price, and overall value. If you feel we ever start to stray from that, be sure to call us out! 😁

Ditto. I had not paid attention to the rolling tool carts before because I’m no contractor. But when I watched the Link promo videos, while I love what Eyobi has done with the wall system, I’m already well invested in pegboard and French cleats. But those videos did give me some ideas on how I could use them that I had not considered before. Think traveling, tailgating, camping, and you can see that one again Ryobi is positioning themselves as power tools and accessories for more than just contractors.

Most takes one row to be hooked and one row beloow is wasted from the hanging part if the tool. PAINT THE WALL THE SAME COLOR AS THE ROWS. Skip every other row. You will have the look AND you'll be saving money.

Great review. I love this as a buy-it-and-forget it tool holder but everything else is a let down. I would prefer that Ryobi drop the hooks (even if they were stronger) and the top drill bit slot and sell magnetic tool holders separately to give you the ability to customize the unit to your hearts desire. Or leave it as is to take as little space on your Link racks as possible. That way you could put two of these side-by-side with no wasted space. What do you think?

13.14 Ryobi say you should store the tools the other way around, eg the tool end (not the battery end ) into the holder, that would solve your belt clip problem

Are you on one breaker for the batteries? Also, what are they all plugged into? Right now my whole garage is one breaker. I have 3 chargers hooked to it right now. I’m clueless when it comes to electrical.

  • @LoganEversole

    @LoganEversole

    2 жыл бұрын

Yes, they are all on one breaker. Into a surge protector (Not ideal). I am not an electrician but batteries don’t pull a lot of power like a microwave or table saw so you can get away with several on a breaker without overloading it. I do have 3 breakers in my garage and plan to spread the load a little better in the future.
