    Just a fun fact. Alot of folks dont know New Process gear was owned by Chrysler Corp since the early 19oo's. up until not to long ago. Chrysler was the supplier for all full size 4x4 trucks. also standard transmissions.

    Actually all Ford manual transmissions were produced by them up until the current style of aluminum case transmissions. I think maybe you may have some incorrect information on the transmissions. Ford transmissions were produced by T+C.

    I thought NP was a sort of joint company between Chrysler and GM? And that's why the Nv-4500 was used by both

    oh ok cool. was just doing a bit of research on the 203/205 doubler and was thinking to myself i would like to have 2wd low range but front wheel drive not so much.. any easier way to set up a doubler that will go in 2low?

    Cory R you can go with an atlas but they are more coin. or with a black box I like the dubblers cause I can use j y parts.

    Cory R the 205 will do 2wd in front or rear hi and low, without the 203 kit. just do the shift rail shave on the 205 and your set!

    Putting together a 203/205 set-up. I was told to get a 205, off a stick. I have 2 of them. But someone else told me I need one off a automatic. My 203 is off a automatic. What one do I need to get this done. Or does it matter?

    Bradley Stroup It really comes down to..... Is it a for a chev style trans? If your looking at ford it makes it really easy all fords are 31 spline output shafts from the trans to the case. IF its a chev you have to see if is a small spline (like a 27 i think) or if its a large spline (something like 32 spline) so no it doesn’t matter if its a auto or a manual. I hope this helps sorry if your doing a dodge don’t know much about them its all blue or red in my book. The above is for the 203. as far as the 205 goes it just needs to be for the side drop your need, like pass or driver side (aka chev or ford). The 205 can tecknicly be any spline you have Jeds can make the 203 shaft any spline that you need to fit your 205. while i would try to get something in a higher spline count as it would be stronger at the matting points what you have that fits would wood work. trans spline + 203= must match 203 + 205= talk to dubbler maker to get the right spline for your application this makes it easy cause the trans and 203 could be a chev style and then you can run a ford style 205 behind that and run a driver side axle (aka high pinion diff).

    What mods are needed to get the NP203 range box to mate to a 29 spline Dodge NV4500?

  • @desmvp

    @desmvp

    3 жыл бұрын

    You only need a 29spline 203.

    With a LowMax case you could get your range down to 5:1. I'm curious though. If I wanted to build this for a divorced setup could I, or am I stuck with a married arrangement?

  • @desmvp

    Ken MacMillan you can only do a lomax on a chev pass drop or run it upside down for a driver. you could do a devorced arrangement but it's going to start getting long and you would have to put a sort drive line in between them. this means more parts to service and possibly of breakage. if you want something lower than the 4:1 I would go with a two speed atles. Of course you could just add another 203 t case so you would end up with a set up looking like 203 203 205 that would get u to 6:1 and be close to what u would be with the devorced setup. I would ask u what is your wheel base? what is your buddget? what gearing are u going to run in axles, trans? what power are you getting out of engine? I would shoot for a crawl ratio around 55-120 if possible. of course the closer to 120 the more expensive it gets.

    just wondering why would anyone want to put a truck in in front wheel drive? or maybe im not understanding the concept. sounds like what your saying is you can put the 203 in hi/lo, 205 in hi/lo, then have the option of doing 4wd, Rwd or Fwd? and of course have the option of doing both tcases in low/hi to make a specific gear ratio and also control front/rear wheel drive?

  • @desmvp

    Cory R yes fwd on with the two tcases in hi or low. you would want to do this for a front wheel dig to get around in tight spaces or with long wheel base rig.

    Is this set up ok to drive on the highway. Or just off road.

  • @desmvp

    @desmvp

    9 жыл бұрын

    Bradley Stroup yes it is totally OK to drive on the highway as you would have it in 2wd hi. thus it being @ a 1:1 gear ratio. you can do this in 2wd front or rear (if you do the 205 twin stick op), that’s what makes this setup so great. you can do 203 ( ops HI or low) and the 205 in front (hi or low) and rear (hi or low) the 205 has a lock out so front low and rear hi or viscera is not passable. the 203 is a 2.0:1 + 205 is a 2.0:1 = 4.0:1 ratio but only when both the 203 and 205 are in low. hope this helps. ill make a video explaining this soon as it is a little funny to try and get ones head around for the first time.
