    Yep, agree with this. I mean, I do think a kind of balance needs to exist. It is a bit weird to smash a huge building 1m away from a highway (that doesn't even have barriers, lol). But then you have Biffa using Advanced Parking AI, which in a way shifts the whole game towards a more realistic behavior. Sometimes all the hyper-realistic stuff seems to not play well with how the game mechanics work. Like...cool, you're adding a school and a million parks and it looks nice, but in an area that almost doesn't matter.

    The thing about this game is that it's not even very realistic to begin with. So, I don't see the point anyway, it's just silly. And Biffa plays it as it deserves to be played. Just casual fun with a dose of realism. That said, I wish we (city builders) will get a more realistic game someday, because City Skylines without mods doesn't even have an internal logic to begin with. My thing is: working out the internal logic of games, but not all of them have it. It doesn't matter if the setting is pure cartoonish fantasy or anything really, the realism of a game comes from it being logical within its world and mechanics. This game...even if you look at the source code, or rather, especially when you do, is kind of broken, enigmatic, and unnecessarily so. We were this close to having a real classic, such a shame. I'm still enjoying this channel though and I play CitySkylines from time to time, with a good measure of mods of course, because I couldn't enjoy it from the start, as it is. 🙁

    In Arlington Virginia, or near to it, there's Crystal City. It's a giant underground mall where you can walk Round the area completely underground. • @gahlster
    @gahlster3 жыл бұрын

    There is a term for phenomena that I can't recall, but the phenomena is when you build a path that people won't follow because they instead prefer a closer way, say an architect thinks an S-shaped path from point A to Point B would look great. But then people would just tend to ignore the path and just go the across the grass or whatever. This, I think, would occur at the main gate at the new nature reserve park and maybe even the side gate close to the ore industry. To avoid that I'd suggest a triangular crossing. The "on/off-ramps" to the main path should ofc be rounded for aesthetic reasons.

You can also widen it a bit more to help with the merging. Then Bob's your Uncle and Robert's your famous cousin. Cheers, Randy (By name and by nature)

    "Tea Front Promenade" should be the name of that Orlando Sea front park. Shame that the zoning adjuster works only on both sides of the road and not only one one side... I guess the prioritze newer or older roads works just fine in this case. The end of the road bear the bridge over the highway should be a roundabout. Two bus lines are needed I think, the till blue one shouldn't wander around and just stay on the main road and back in the sea front loop. An other line should go from the district next to the new one, on the right and to the Zoo wia the main road. Ped paths connecting the main road fo the secondary road should do the rest. There is some space between the Highway and the railroad to put some houses or other things unless you really wish to keep the trees.

I think a water treatment could be great near the pear you're working on with the pumps fenced off, some inland processing and some offices. And for electricity you could build a solar power park with some maintenance buildings around it and also nicely fenced off. Maybe you can build your own construction site (dirt ground, crane, some steel beams or other stuff) in this park, like there is a new solar power thing coming. Keep up the great work, and thanks for all the great videos! :) (I have no clue how to mark Biffa in a comment, but hopefully he sees this anyway)

    Biffa, could you use the touch it mod, or the new touchable option from the Multi-tool mod to "make touchable" then just delete those "roads" inside the warehouse piers? 🤷‍♂️

    Great video!! I love nature parks! I'm glad you fixed the pyromaniacs in your city... can you imaging a camp fire burning down the whole island at the beginning of the city's build!! The motto then was, "Don't have matches for you cigar ? No worries, just use the nearest tree!" 😲😁😂😂😂

    I know I'm real late to the party, but while you were building the path between the railway line and the highway I thought it'd be awesome if you had made it part of the nature reserve park! Some parks are split into multiple pieces, so it wouldn't be too unrealistic--and you could add EVEN MORE DETAILS!

    Build a campsite!! It will be great for tourists, income, doesn’t take up too much space - it’s also a good use of space, you can build multiple in various areas of new tealand (maybe not industrial spaces, and rather more “rural” and “scenic” areas). It doesn’t necessarily need a large mass transit area, maybe one or two bus lines - or add a stop to an existing bus line. I also think that your using too much existing space within areas, and while some of them are a great addition - I do feel that the new “spider transport hub” really does need to be put to better use and therefor that area could do with building up a bit more.

    Mark the nodes with move it holding alt (it allows you to mark nodes and segments which are prebuilt into asset). Pier description on the workshop have this step.

    If you raise the paths in the nature beach reserve it'll give it a raise wooden boardwalk. That would look better and keep the sand down to a minimal for the citizens. Also the other comment calling it the crueltea zoo was great

    There are heaps of Maori names that have the sound close to (Tea) at the beginning of their name albeit spelt "Te" - I grew up in one place called Teatatu (Tea-at-a-too). The Finn brothers of the band Crowded House were born in Te Awamutu.

    5:30 Road inside the pier buildings ... have you tried Touch It or the equivalent in the multitool? 32:20 I love your path network but it is also pointing a finger at an existing problem: the highway is dividing you island. Hardly any roads are crossing it and that very long stretched out highway connection seems to make things worse ... and this division also dictates the layout of your bus network.

    Hey Biffa, a head's up about using zoning mods: Any time you physically adjust the roads, it will UNDO your previous zoning settings. Good habit if you want to fiddle with zoning - everytime you change the physical roads, redo your zone preferences too :)
