I get that filming in the dark makes things a bit scarier but please director's, there's got to be a way of filming in the dark but still having enough light so that I can see the characters. You can give me all the jump scares you want but if I can't see the jump, I'm not scared

What got me was the massive downer of the poor shark that is going to be demonized once more. Like the writer of 'Jaws', Peter Benchley, forever tried to undo the damage he'd done for the rest of his life --- creating this unnecessary fear that has allowed us to stand by while the majority of them get slaughtered to make tasteless soup.

Because you have. We are in the era of content, not movies. Very few of those have any artistic merit or anything original to say. It's fine, there's always been content movies. Jaws was content, good content but not meant as art. Now it's 90% content and sometimes real movies.

Whenever I have dreams related to that, it's always tape players and record players malfunctioning super loudly and everything is zoomed in and in red lighting. I'm always indoors and can never find my mother(who is religious) and I never get to see the sky in my nightmares. It changed tremendously but stuck to the basics. Like, the devil came to Earth and people died. So it was more of a spin off.

The strangers is one of those for me that the more mysterious the better. It didn’t need a saga to to be creepy and effective as a horror. It checks the box of the eternal why when it comes to twisted human behaviours, that makes films better. In science in genera and psychology in particular, yes, digging into the why is preferable and most desirable but in fiction, too much exposition is not the best way to explore it. The cases that inspired it are still confusing and mysterious, that adds to the dread and experience of discomfort needed in the genre. The 2008 one is one of my favourites because it left me at the why, not knowing or not being able to understand shit, frightens me. “Because you were home” will be forever engraved as one of the most heavy and intense wtf reasons/explanations to the why of the whole mess they made and how they made it. The moments of silence and creepiness were so on point…

Don't know why we are remaking the Spiderwick Chronicles, the original was amazing with Freddie Highmore playing dual roles. A new version isn't necessary. because we're well past remakes now......if it can be remade AND race swapped or gender swapped then the networks, streamers and studios will do it to add to their DEI catalogue and ESG score. Anytime they do it I just go to the original source.
