    @123Jaxjax He definitely reminds me more of a slim young B.Hari. Either way with the gym that he is at, his fighting instincts, and his genetics I'm sure he will be a dominant force in kickboxing for a long time.

    I have to say while he is certainly a fine fighter with certain Tysonesque characteristics, his punching itself isn't terribly analogous to the great Mike Tyson. That's a tough standard to meet, especially for a fighter not focusing solely on his hands. To find something more comparable to Tyson, you'd need to find someone from boxing. When Tyson threw, he never looked like he was swinging, but more that his body propelled the shots and this fighter doesn't have that same body unity. It's like a guy swinging an axe. A pro is letting his body do all the work, while someone less capable looks like he's swinging more and wacking away.

    The defense is the big difference. While virtualy everyone with the ability to see acknowledges that Tyson has an incredible power and offense, most people don't realize, that Tyson's defense is up there with the best ever in any combat sport. Before splitting up with Kevin Rooney and letting Don King to destroy the greatest talant in heavyweight boxing, ever, he was never hit flush. I chalange anyone to show me who hit Tyson clean, with him not seeing and reacting to the punch. He was never out of position, no matter how hard he swinged

  • @bennylevine387

    @bennylevine387

    @@steveibiza5516 No, that's true too. It sort of defied what people normally associate with good defense. Not many super aggressive fighters had that kind of defense on the inside or on the way inside. But you're right, the closer he got to King and the further he got away from the Catskills crew, the less of that we saw, culminating in a reign that was shorter than anyone could have imagined. And the only time I ever saw him clipped was when some flailing dude got lucky with one out of like 20 punches thrown, maybe Reggie Gross a second before he was murdered, maybe Ribalta and Pinklon, but nothing too substantial.

  • @joelrivardguitar
    @joelrivardguitar11 ай бұрын

    Definitely more of a Badr Hari. I forget how good Tyson was and then watch the knockout compilation and it's truly scary. Look at clips of Tyson on the Arsenio Hall talk show, he looks like a 1970s bodybuilder. The fact he could move all that mass at crazy speeds and was super accurate and hard to hit is ridiculous.

    His guard relies on big gloves. The ever present threat of the takedown. His age when he entered mma. His injuries to his knees always left him wary of the clinch in mma. Lots of reasons. In his earlier career if he had transitioned I believe he would have been more successful, but waiting until he did the mma fighting style was at a point where his skill set wasn't as effective

    I am sorry but I cannot see neither good classic boxing nor good old K-1 kickboxing from times of Hoost, Aertz and many others. Glory kickboxing has evolved into a limited straght standing version of boxing with a couple of light low-kicks per round. Kickboxing from ONE promotion is much more technical and exciting to watch.

    Alistair Overeem has the hardest punch and the most power. I wouldn't want to be in the ring against Alistair Overeem, this guy is a machine. He reminds me of a robot. He knocked out Badr Hari twice and broke Gökhan Saki's arm. He goes into the ring and pushes his opponents who weigh over 100 kg away as if they were a fly.

    His style is very aggressive, with high pressure detailing an elite cardio. That said, his punches seem to lose technicality because of the power he is throwing at. His tempo is flat, and his body is exposed between every swing. That front leg dominance indicative of an aggressive striker is also a vulnerability against a tactician who could wether that storm.

    Maybe I need to watch kickboxing more but he seems quite normal to me. I don't really see the Mike Tyson cross over but the Kickboxer does seem to bait people into guarding, by bursting them, and then he delivers a few different shots, such as the liver shot. Mike Tyson had much cleaner movement but perhaps that's due to the difference between kickboxing and boxing - I have no idea other than being gifted in pattern recognition. San Chai moves very well and so it's perhaps an anatomical issue in regards to the movement of the kickboxer looking unrefined.
