New Mazda MX5 Tamiya M08 Concept Track Day Racer Body Painting. M-08 RWD RC Fun Kit 58669

In this video, I fit a new body to my Tamiya M-08 Concept chassis. After saying goodbye to the Tamiya Escort, the M-08 chassis sat on the shelf for a few months with no shell feeling sorry for itself. I enjoy driving the car, so the other day I placed an order for a new polycarbonate MX5 body as well as some new road tyres.
I fancied something a little different so I went for a track day car look. To get this look right, I painted some of the car on the inside and the bumpers are painted on the outside. I flat cleared the roof, bumpers and side skirts for that flat race look. All in all, it came out how I wanted it so I'm chuffed with the result.

    I knew I wasn't the only one that use's their current age or year of birth as a number choice on their RC cars. That little car looks like a lot of fun. I might look more into the M08 chassis. 👍

    Hey Gavin, if you want to pay real homage to that MR2 driver, ABC Hobby does have the first and second generation MR2 bodies. I actually own a Mk1 (AW11), and I've got that body from them on my own M08, and it looks ACE!

    I had the same reverse problem with my fathers ff-01 (a chassis I really like) quite a while ago. I opened the gearbox and found out that between the pinion gear from the motor and the normal gear were too much space. I adjusted the motor position a bit tighter and it worked. Luckily gears weren’t damaged. I hope I explained everything correctly ‘cause I’m german and my english is not the best :)

    My Kyosho Micron Tape always peels up, I end up using Prit-Stick on lines where it does and that works well enough.

    Hi! 2 questions for you. 1. Is this the TAM51583 body? 2.And if so, that body was originally for the m05/m06 - were the premarked body post holes in the correct location to fit the m08 too?

  • @bravo0105
    @bravo01052 жыл бұрын

    That does look nice! I wish Tamiya would have put out the “Pro” and "Concept" chassis as mid-grade kits with bodies and tires in place of the “bling”; the latter doesn’t do much for beginners and casuals in a sea of RTR. Ended up missing out on the M07; expected it to replace the M05 in kits. Running a stock M04 around a carpeted track was a lot of fun; wish I had a local indoor track. How far is the closest onroad track to you? Your M08 would shine on a technical course.

    Like the custom paint scheme. Tamiya ps20 on white is a great colour however very from my experience it gradually fades to orange when exposed to UV.

    Youre bad man. I thought I was done buying Rc cars for a bit, but seeing the Mx5 has me searching for a mk3 version to join the 1:1 mk3 I've got parked in the garage. The only saving grace at the moment is that no-one seems to make a mk3 NC mx5 body. If anyone knows of one let me know!

    You've done a great job on that MX5 bodyshell, looks awesome! I love the 'M' chassis, got an M05 and a 3Racing Mini MG Evo, and they both run really, really well, and handle brilliantly. I would definitely recommend the MG Evo, it's a great price, decent spec, and changing the pinion and spur gears is a doddle, and it uses standard 48DP gears so they're easy to get hold of. Great little video!!

    I have both and m08 is definitively the better chassis. I thought traction might be worse because of midship motor position but this is not the case. By the way, I have the same noise under braking and can confirm it's not the distance between spur and pinion. So probably gearbox or differential.

    @@RCKickschannel Hi, took my time this evening and finally found the problem. It was an assembly mistake and as long, as you keep all the parts of the kit together (even if you think they are left over) the failure is easy to recap. Please have a look at page 6 in the instructions, sketch 6, partn° B14. If this part is still on the plastic molding, then you`ve obviously forgotten it like me. Leaving away B14, allows the counter gear moving in axial direction and reduces dramatically the overlapping to the spur gear. I'm curious, if your noise has the same origin. Best regards from Germany, Christoph
