    I've always admired that Anderton's willingness to shout-out the team behind the camera and it's good to see the falcon has gotten some screen time too! Bravo Chris - great video.

    People keep trashing the Volca line, but for someone just getting into or doesn't want a PhD in electronic music, they aren't so bad. You can get 4 or 5 units for less than a higher end midi keyboard. Thanks for the great video.

    You're right, you can get 4 Volcas for less than a "proper" synth, 5 even if you're buying used. However! You're better of getting 1 proper synth instead. Get a Hydrasynth, a Monologue XD, a Minifreak, etc. and it'll be a better experience than dealing with a couple of Volcas.

    Can Andertons Music/anybody reading this please recommend a basic mixer for use with half a dozen volcas? Nothing fancy: 6-8 channels (including a couple stereo channels), basic EQ and at least one send bus for FX.

    Why a abbreviated FM instrument when for $300 there is the RefaceDX a very powerful programmable synth? Yes, the Reface is only 4 operators, but still has all the editing and sound of the DX7 with a UI that is infinitely better.

    You can’t get those DX7 EP sounds on a 4 Op. The more complex harmonics/algorithms aren’t there.

  • @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene

    @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene

    Still better than a Volca. I was tempted to buy 4 or 6 volcas at one time because they sounded so good, and everyone seemed to be able to get good sound. But then the repetition of patches across the community began to appear. What I feared from an abbreviated synth was true; very little range of sound design. So, I decided to save my money longer for a more complete synth. A set of 4-6 Volcas, however, is a fantastic way to begin your journey into sound design and orchestration. After 55 years of performing/programming/designing on keys I desire a more complex synth. @@DannyKavka

    Great demo, well done. Disappointing update to the original Volca FM though in my opinion. Ironic that it’s only capable of ‘1983 analogue polyphony’ when it should be 16 note polyphonic (at least), like the original DX7, given that it’s nearly 40 years on since the DX7 mk1 was released!
