Never been a huge Apple Pencil user, always hated the front camera position, because I am always in meetings. So this is a definite upgrade for Me. Heavily considering it. 😊

Please save your money and wait until next year, or even just get the iPad Air 5th generation on sale, because this iPad is definitely not up to what Apple is capable of doing with the iPad as a whole

I have it and I must say it’s an underrated thing. Sure the pen maybe is weird but you will not notice it after a while! And also it’s very fast and smooth. Why wait? I mean it’s just very good. You get all accessories for the pen with the pencil when you buy it. And the power of it is great too. The speakers are good and the microphones as well. It is very underrated

I like my iPad 10 a lot more than my iPad 9. I like its fingerprint button (power button), the usbc plugin and the ability to swipe up and close an AP. I also like its minimal power consumption. I can charge up my iPad 9 and leave it closed overnight and it has about 75% power the next morning. I do the same with my iPad 10 and it still has 100% power the next morning. My iPad has 256GB of storage.

I’ve always wanted an iPad Air bec I want a bigger screen but I dont want to pay as much. Was thinking of getting iPad9 instead as it’s affordable but smaller screen 😒 so when this iPad10 came out - where it’s iPad9 in a body and almost same specs of iPadAir - I said this one’s def for me! I dont even do productivity/art stuff so all of the fuss about the Apple Pencil, and Non laminated display don’t bother me at all 😉 My main problem now is what color to get! So torn between the Pink and the Blue 😫

I live in the UK and I am so glad that I bought the iPad Air 5 before the price hike!

Since in the base configuration, this is 30% more expensive than the 9th gen, I'll be getting that. Also I kind of like having a bit of bezzle to hold it and not touch the display. The camera positioning is the best feature in my opinion (and the slightly bigger screen).

Dont wanna impose any choices on you but please check out the galaxy tab s8 as well. I bought the air 3 back in 2020 with the sole purpose of note taking and my experience with it hasnt been so good. My handwriting with the 1st gen apple pencil comes out worse than it actually is. I think its coz of the hard tip on the apple pencil.

@@bluupbrr286 I intend on using it occasionally to browse the net. It'll mostly be my kid's (5yo). Ios has better kids apps than android in my experience. For note taking I agree that an android device (or better yet, Windows) is far superior.

Good balanced review. Price bump was painful. I agree definitely should start at 128gb storage these days. Still a nice upgrade from my older iPad 6. Not sure why people complain that it’s not a huge difference from last generation since most wouldn’t buy a new iPad every year anyway. USB-C helps with future proofing too.

That's the perfect iPad for me. Keep in mind not all the people change their devices year to year. The last iPad I bought was an iPad Air 2 in 2014. And I'm still writing this comment on it, because my main purpose of it's existence was watching KZread and Netflix. Sometimes some web browsing and professionally I used it for Teams calls and also for apps for live sound mixing consoles like A&H dLive or SQ. I did not need anything else, and I would continue to use it if the battery would not become unreliable. My brother bought an iPad Air with the M2 chip and I loved it but could not justify the price on such low usage and since I know I won't use the Apple Pencil at all the 10th gen is perfect for my upgrade as it looks the same as the Air (which I love the look over the 9th gen by ba huge mile) and the camera in the middle is a big deal for me for the Teams meetings as I will look more naturally. So yeah I do get it in the year by year comparison it's a weird device, but for me it just ticks every single thing for a lower price than the Air. Keep in mind I used the 2014 till now with no issues for my usage so even if I get 6 years out of the 10th gen that's ok for me. So IMO there is a market for this product. I know I will enjoy it! I'm going over to iPad in the new year and reading your comments leads me to a question. Is the battery on your 2014 model still okay or is it like my Lenovo Yoga i.e. reaching the end of its life, neading charging far to frequently.

@@stephendeakin2714 it is not like dead dead yet, but it certainly requires charging a lot more frequently than it used to. And sometimes it is giving like low percentage problems - you think you have 9%, and it;s dead in a short while ;)

I am upgrading from a 16gb iPad Air 2! My iPad finally gave up and not worth getting fixed at this point lol. Definitely happy to be able to have more than a handful of apps and not half of my storage being the software! I am thinking the IPad 10th generation with 256gb yellow will be what I pick up.

@@lacosta0892 They need product separation so it's always going to have less features than higher models. The only thing that they should have changed for this price is the base storage at 128. I only use an iPad for web browsing, reading books, watching films and playing the odd game, all mainly when away from home. I don't write notes or do productivity etc, so don't need a pencil or a keyboard. I have a Mac for all that stuff which does it way better than the compromise of productivity tasks on a tablet. Even though I don't use the pencil, I do think all this moaning about a pencil is a lot of fuss about nothing, so you have to connect it with a wire instead of a magnet, big deal, you have to do that to charge the iPad anyway 🙂

I am glad I went with the Tab S8 instead. Samsung let me traded-in my 5-6 years old S7 Edge for $200. Got another $100 discount. It comes with the S Pen. The case with keyboard and touchpad only costs $100.

@@dastaniam I mainly use tablets for note taking, annotating papers. I was debating between the iPad Pro and the Tab S8 since I am using a Macbook Pro as my laptop. It would be nice to use the iPad Pro as my 2nd screen. But I only needed to pay $400 for the Tab S8 with the S Pen after trade-in and discount. So, I went with the Tab S8 instead.

@@dastaniam i have a 12.9 2021 pro and tbh if anyone asked me i would recommend the 11 inch tab s8 instead of the ipads. i love my ipad but even i know its overkill. u can do all these things on a tab s8 for cheaper if u dont care about the extra features

Thank you, for this review and it was a lot of fun to watch. I have been using the basic iPad models since the 4th generation and always buy the version with the max RAM and the cell data option. I prefer the older classic design with the home button, headphone jack, and lighting connector which, supports my Apple 1st generation pencil and various lighting adapters. Also, I ordered my new 9th generation basic iPad last week from Apple’s veteran web site and was able to save 10 percent (smile…smile).

this will be my 2nd ipad since the first gen...looking foward to it

I just recently bought this ipad and I love it! People really say that there’s no real reason why this ipad should be an idea choice but I couldn’t disagree more! For me, the Magic Keyboard folio, the Landscape camera, the battery life and, obviously the fact its pink lol were the main reasons I got this iPad. I was flicking between this or the iPad Air 4 but I knew the Apple Pencil wouldn’t be something I’d use plus I didn’t care about the laminated display all that much (also non laminated are much cheaper to repair) as I was going to use it with the magic folio anyways so I didn’t care about the air gap. THIS IPAD IS GREAT, It looks amazing, the folio keyboard and camera are brilliant and it performs smoothly in day to day school work and home use. Shame no 128gb tho😢 I got 256 but it’s way too much

Remember 256 is not suppost to be used all in one sitting. So it would last you around 3-4 years

Hi, i really like your channel. It hepls me pick out a lot of products so far. But i've never had an ipad before. I'm thinking ab getting one. But i dont know if i should get the Ipad Air 5 or Ipad pro M1 and now we have the new 10th gen Ipad aswell. I watched your video about that too. But i like to ask more ab the front camera in Ipad Pro M1. Some said that when using it to make video calls, it's like you're not looking directly at the person from the other end but at another angle. Can you help me choose? Oh and i'm a student. Correction re iPad 9th Gen: It does have centre stage on the front camera. I have had the 9th gen for a year now, and have used centre stage many a time when making a Zoom call. This feature is also highlighted on Apple's website.

Me too im using 9th generation up to now and when im in IMo with my kids i can also use it in center stage and the battery life is much much appreciated untill now.

Still rocking a 2018 pro 12.9 and I would say if you can get hold of a decent one 11 or 12.9 inch 2018 or 2020 model ,go for it over this

You are spot on, regarding the iPad Air 4 being a better buy, I believe it's the sweet spot! Also Dave2D's take on iPad 10 laminated display is that it would be cheaper to replace the screen if it ever shatter's!

I used an iPad almost everyday since I bought the 3rd gen iPad on release. Now I have a macbook pro 14 inch and honestly the screen is amazing. It is so good that I don't want to watch my films/series on my iPad. I know the 12.9 inch iPad uses the same screen, but it's to big for an iPad to hold in my hand for my tase. And it's expensive for a machine just to watch series/films. I'm just disappointed in the way apple threats the iPad. Why is the screen lacking compared to their macbooks/iphones, why not OLED? Why is the accessory line-up so confusing? And why are these machines getting so expensive especially outside the US. Most people have an iPad as secondary device and not as a replacement for their computer. So making it this expensive makes it not worth it for me and probably for most people.

I really love how you review products. You don't just say for example " ah, yes, this product is for 1000$ and with the accessories just 1,500$, that is very good" Other KZreadrs would do this!! You care about everyone. And if it's not worth it, you would just say it's not worth it straight away. Love your videos ❤️❤️

I was upgrading from the 8th gen and tried out the 10th gen iPad for about a week. Sleek profile, great battery life, but ultimately I was disappointed in the non-laminated display which felt cheap on top of the other compromises they made. It would be a great tablet if they kept it to a modest price increase, say around $349-$379, but not $449. The Air 5th gen then went on sale for $499 so I returned my 10th gen and got it. The Air has worse battery life but it’s a completely better experience, and having the M1 chip will make it powerful for years to come.

I hate laminated displays, They make repair a lot harder and the probability of the actual screen breaking with the digitizer is higher. There’s no difference, it’s less repairable, and it’s not very durable

In the UK the 2022 iPad Air has been reduced by £100 at various retailers, so only £69 more than the new iPad 2022. I was thinking of buying the new iPad 2022, but at this price difference it's the iPad Air 2022 for me now.

Absolutely hate the new 10th gen iPad. Such a greedy move from Apple.

You should probably watch some of the other reviews where they find out. The USB-C on this device is intentionally slowed down.way slow.

i got the 9 some months ago when the leaks for the price increase got out. I love the new camera of 10th usb-c and the a14 but thats about it. On 9 u can get the slim folio or the combo touch for less money with the same functionality. Imo doesnt rly make alot of sense to pick this one. if u want this form factor u go for the 9 for the value or for the air for future-proof. ofc mini and pro are in different category.

OK - so here's my dilemma. I moved to a mac-mini and use a surface pro 6 as my "mobile" option. So connect to a monitor at the office & wireless mouse keyboard etc. But I use ipad mini for reading and annotation. Switching between mac and windows is annoying (when using windows) and the Surface Pro is losing battery life and just isn't as smooth as the mac-mini. So I'm looking/thinking of getting a bigger ipad to replace the surface pro and the ipad mini. The 10th gen looks like it may suffice particularly as I have the 1st pencil. But will it do the job......

I don’t know if it’s different elsewhere but those student discounts ended back in September. I like the 10th gen IPad as I’m an adult with a 10+ year old iPad and only want it for fitness+, Netflix and the like. Lots of money yes, but everything apple makes is $$$.

At this stage I feel like Apple or just capitalise in on all the tech. And charging us more for it. I love Apple products but there is no way I would buy this iPad as the price outweighs the specs. Are you insane? Apple went from capitalistic to ultra-capitalistic after Jobs died. He left the company with a logistic expert that can squeeze out every last bit of saving and profits from suppliers and customers. I love Apple as a shareholder but I avoid Apple product at MSRP and Apple subscriptions like the plague. You’ll never be treated with an once of respect from this company; there is a reason people describe it as the cult of Apple

Just bought a 9th gen for $249. I’m happy to know I’m not missing out on too much. I think I saved about $100 going with the 9th and that seems more than worth it to me for my first iPad.

I love my new 10th gen iPad, I got a heck of a deal on it with my cell phone carrier ( Xfinity) for 1/2 off plus a free year of 5G service, I’ve had it since November and it’s a great upgrade over my 1st gen iPad Pro which still works well but I could tell it’s starting to show its age, but so far I’ve been super impressed with my 10th gen iPad in blue, 😂I got the 64GB version because that was the only one on sale but I have the 2TB iCloud plan so it’s not a huge deal, but this iPad is perfect for media consumption, playing call of duty, and watching movies and KZread

They could have released an Apple Pencil 1 with built-in Type-C tip if they don't really want users to use the 2nd gen.

You can charge the pencil on any device with a lightning connector

I’m right there with you. I still use my 6th generation and I have the Apple Pencil #1 so I’m extremely happy!! I didn’t want to spend money on another pen when my 1st one is perfectly fine. I don’t upgrade iPads every year so I think this will be a nice upgrade.

I use the new IPad air for art mainly do digital sculpting on nomad sculpt

Instead of iPad 10 I spent the same money on Amazon refurbished iPad pro 12.9 is mostly much better I think.

Chap, have you reported the insane adapter chain when you want to connect a 3.5mm Headset to an Ipad (with USB-C port) for Gaming when you want to charge the iPad simultaneously? 😉🎉 1.) adapter 3.5mm to USB-C 2.) then adapter USB-C to USB-A 3.) then multiport adapter from apple which takes the USB-A headset-cable-chain and then connects via USB-C to the iPad and also takes the charging cable. No, the Apple multiport adapter has NO port for 3.5mm and also NO port for incoming USB-C although it is called „multiport“. 🎉

Yes I have it too. It’s such a nice iPad and I really dont feel like im using a baseline iPad which I have owned in the past. Having the camera on the top definitely outweighs the Apple Pencil.

If it’s a good device for watching videos and drawing pictures as well as playing games, and a webcam can easily be used on it, I might replace my iPad with a 1TB Steam Deck if one gets made! (Who knows? Maybe Steam Deck 2 MIGHT have a built in camera?)

I was thinking about getting a new iPad because the one that I have now (7th gen) is currently running out of space, so when I heard about the 10th gen coming out, I was happy until I saw that you have to buy a dongle to charge a pencil, it’s idiotic to me

I personally won’t be getting an iPad 10th gen… not because I think it’s a bad tablet or anything. It’s just that I don’t feel the need to upgrade from my iPad 9th gen that I got back in January. However, the colors make me jealous and it’s great to see the iPad get the new design and USB-C and the better placement of the front camera is amazing so I DO think the new 10th gen has it’s merits… but as a college student, the one thing that sort of kills this even being an option for me is the situation with needing extra tools to use an Apple Pencil. Sure, I use a Logitech Crayon with my iPad 9th gen anyway… but on principle, I think Apple has kind of slightly gutted the 10th gen’s use as a student device since I’m sure if a school is getting the devices, they’d buy the Pencils from Apple… and if someone loses the converter dongle, the Apple Pencil is basically an expensive stick. Seeing the device from a student’s perspective, I think this is where the 9th gen has a significant advantage over the 10th gen… and all Apple needed to do to prevent that was to make the Apple Pencil 2 compatible with the new iPad instead.

Glad I watched this I will just keep my 8th gen iPad . The inconvenience of charging the pencil , and the price tag not worth the “””””upgrades”””””

I have only had the iPad a few days now and my pencil hasn’t come in the mail but so far the display looks much better than my phone And the stereo speakers are nice

I mean, I’d rather just get a surface laptop 5. Touchscreen, amazing keyboard, amazing speakers, amazing battery life, full desktop OS, awesome trackpad, lighter than an iPad Pro with a keyboard. Did I mention full desktop OS?

I am planning to get one and the keyboard case

Still getting it done with 32g storage on my iPad 8. Just got the iOS 16 update. Will be using it for a couple more years at least.
