Great video, thanks for checking out my design! It's still not the world's lightest normal size 3x3 though. I have one that weighs around 6-7 grams :P

A cube that you HAVE TO turn slowly sounds great for people learning to do look-ahead. So not only did you make a light Rubik's Cube - but it also has a valid use!

A little thing I learned while doing pepakura Halo armor is that Elmer's "glue gel" and glue stick are some of the best things for papercraft. The working time of superglue is too fast and your fingers will end up shredded by the end, Elmer's standard glue is too runny and slow. Glue stick is pretty good but the only problem I have is with adhesion, it's not quite sticky enough. Glue gel has been my favorite thing to use so far because it's thicker than normal Elmer's glue, seems to have a slightly shorter working time, and sticks pretty good. Also you can get the sparkly kind, which is just inherently more fun to use.

Back when I did pokemon papercraft, I swore by glue sticks. I would use a toothpick to scrape a little glue off and spread it where I needed it. It made for great control of where it was placed.
The assembly part is so satisfying!Great Video!

@@queensgambitdeclined that's pretty good! intuitive f2l takes a bit of time to get fast at though. since you just learned it, i'd suggest to keep practicing your f2l and you'll get more used to it and your times will hopefully go down! also it may be worth learning some algorithms for f2l cases, they make things a lot faster for certain cases, as well as some simple oll cases
When I saw the initial 10.10g I was immediately like If you DARE not shave of those last 0.1g I'm gonna flip. Good job.
Make one out of Super heavy paper, then cut holes in it like you did with the plastic one.
Question: I just watched your 100 mile video. First off good job, that’s awesome. Have you ever considered attempting a cubing mile? Basically you run a mile around a track, and every lap you solve a 3x3. My personal best in this is 7:23, I’d love to see you give it a try!
@Z3Cubing

Do you have to pause while solving, or can you keep running? I don't think it would make for a great video, but it's a fun idea for sure.

Glad to know that if I don't want to spend money on a store-bought cube, all I have to do is buy some specialty paper, obtain the correct glue, find an adequate pair of scissors, and then spend a minimum of five hours cutting, gluing, and assembling the cube. Thanks for the tip!
I really do like the aesthetics of that lightest plastic cube. If there was some way to make that out of paper and still be stable and turnable, I think you may have the perfect design.
@Z3Cubing

Yeah, most of the weight of the paper cube is in the mechanism though (to make it sturdy enough to turn), so I don't think it would help much.

This Rubik's cube at video point 0:25 is totally fascinating. It only consists of frames and holes it I never saw some cube like that before. But I really like that grid cube. Hopefully it does not break by scrambling this cube in regular intensity during the speed solving of that cube. However this cage cube looks fantastic.

cut the corners off, make the faces octagonal. You can either leave the cutoff corner as a black equilateral triangle or split it into three coloured 120deg isoceles triangles.

If you used a sealent on the inter mechanism it might turn easier. The paper is probably gripping a lot, reducing friction with like nail polish might work? Idk

good video amazing
I have an idea for a rubix cube lighter than that and you can make it as big as you want, each piece you make out of square balloons.
I forgot you were posting vids cause i only rewatch certain vids
What if you made the paper for the outside pieces lighter? The paper in the mechanism could be the same, but if you made all of the cubies using something like printer paper, you could lower the weight just a little more. I'm not sure if it would then potentially crush under the weight of someone's fingers though.

you could try making the blacks white becouse ink wieghts ya know
it might also turn better if you lubricate it with graphite powder
Now make one made out of aerogel which is basically entirely air.
I think you need to lube it to better turning hahahahha
Suggestion: you can make rubic more lighter by making it smaller
