    SD cards are pretty indestructible to be honest. I lost my drone in 5ft of water in a river. 89 days later and once the river level had dropped to 2ft., I retrieved the drone, let the SD card dry out overnight and the only footage I lost was the the clip that was being recorded at the time of the crash. I was amazed. The new charger looks good though.

    £110 for a jet wash! I presume he was joking! Is 4mm cable on what might be a 7KW EV charger OK? (7KW x 4mm x 10m = 3.35V drop = 1.5% loss). I see you are using the new fire rated cable clips, which look very neat and tidy. I did wonder about the asbestos sofit boards too, after all, drilling a hole through one might not be healthy. I am thinking of replacing all of my sofits with UPVC cladding, partly so I can look the insulating on the top of the wall and cavity opening - also, saves painting them every few years.

  • @aaronmdjones

    @aaronmdjones

    You only need 4 pairs for gigabit. 100 Mbit/s Ethernet runs on 2 pairs.

  • @MrBinabanana

    @MrBinabanana

    9 ай бұрын

    Officially, you can't. Some electricians may say you can use two pairs for 100MBit/s half-duplex ethernet and use the remaining pairs for CTs, but telecoms engineers would strongly advise against it. Whilst it may work over shorter runs, it should be considered a bodge and not relied upon because it deviates from the standards. Entwining the CT's electrical signal with the Ethernet will do nothing for data integrity, especially over medium to longer runs. It's a massive oversight with EV Ultra in my opinion - either you have CTs or Ethernet but no combination over the same UTP can be considered standards-compliant.

  • @aaronmdjones

    @aaronmdjones

    9 ай бұрын

    @@MrBinabanana The whole reason wired ethernet over twisted pair uses twisted pairs is that they become immune to mutual interference (what affects one conductor in a twisted pair will also affect the other to largely the same degree; keeping the voltage between them the same as without interference). A CT typically has a turn ratio of 2000:1, meaning that when it's measuring 100 amps flowing through it, it's transmitting 50 milli-amps on the CT wiring. There is no way in the world 50mA RMS, or even 100mA RMS if you had 2 CTs, is going to interfere with Ethernet over twisted pair to the extent that it wouldn't work. I bet you wouldn't even observe a measurable increase in the incidence of frame errors. Even better still, many CTs have their burden resistor on the CT side and transmit only a voltage difference -- exactly the same thing Ethernet is doing over exactly the same wiring. Unless the current use of the property is ramping up and down from practically nothing to practically max several times per second, this isn't going to cause any interference at all. None.

  • @MrBinabanana

    @MrBinabanana

    9 ай бұрын

    @@aaronmdjones So basically, what I said. You might be able to get away with it, but it’s not standards-compliant. To be honest, I wouldn’t want to be in a position where I’m betting on a greater or lesser incidence of frame errors - I want to be in position where I’m simply doing things correctly by following the standards. They’re standards for a reason and anything else is a bodge.

    We have had support for multi-price tariffs for a long time, just as well as supporting every Octopus tariff except Intelligent. As much as we are extremely grateful to the many many V2 owners, companies have to continue investing into R&D and making better products, giving customers a better and better platform over time.

    Its a great charger, but the customer service is abysmal. I have told them to remove me as a trusted installer. Their poor customer service reflects badly on the installers who are their lifeline.

    @@artisanelectrics They do tend to answer quickly, but there is a disconnect between the customer service and the technical department. They are the only company who I video all my work for - because they have repeatedly proven to be underhand. No trust there at all for their "trusted installers". They are now the only brand that I refuse to install, but unfortunately, I still have a commitment to service their devices for me existing customers.

    I can't possibly imagine why they'd answer the phone to Artisan immediately, you know that company that has the power to fundamentally change the design of their chargers and has a massive KZread following 😂

    Jordon, did you realise that your employees unintentionally revealed the whereabouts of the householders two gun safes in the cupboard at 7:53 Anyone local I'm sure would recognise the property. I'm sure the local "Police" / "Firearms licencing officer" is happy with you showing the location of the gun safes etc...

    Jumping to conclusions there. Having a gun safe doesn’t mean they have guns. I know someone who installed a couple of big gun safes for high end photography equipment for insurance purposes. Was interesting getting them into his car! Was a tad heavy 😂
