Yes, the upgrades are easily worth the $200 increase. However, I wish Honda had included the centerstand on the bike, which is really a necessity for most people. I bought this bike in early April. To be nitpicky - shame on Honda for NOT including the pin spanner wrench and handle in the toolkit for adjusting the rear shock's preload! (the wrench and handle together are only $11!! C'mon, Honda!!! It took me a month to get them from my dealer!) And oh, yeah - what's the deal with only ONE color coming to the U.S.?? I mean, I love the green/black scheme, but it would have been nice to have a choice. I love Honda red also!!

Doesn’t look like there are any accessories available for the ‘22 from Honda in the US. I’m also having trouble finding reliable, concrete info on what ‘21 accessories will fit the ‘22. Maybe I’m just not good at searching, idk lol

@@LongLiveJapan87 I can tell you of at least three that will work. The centerstand for the '21 CB500X will fit the '22, and it is part no. 08M70-MKP-J80. (I saved the invoice from my dealer) This 12v socket also fits, part no. 08U70-MKP-D80. As does the Honda tank bag naturally, I assume it's the one for the '21. Please note, there is a separate "attachment" piece for the tank bag that you must also buy. (part numbers 08L77-MJP-G51 and 08L72-MKP-J80) I know my dealer checked w/Honda to make sure they'd fit prior to getting them. You might be able to do the same for other accessories directly thru Honda's customer service.

I've had this bike for 2 months now and love it. After 40 years off bikes I was nervous jumping back onto this one. I've found it so easy and comfortable to ride. My confidence on the road is coming back quickly. Have just started riding gravel (not quickly) and I'm sure it will handle that well and lift my confidence. I'm lucky I live in NZ so had colour choices. Mine is red.

Very happy with it and as an older, returning rider to the sport, this bike will do everything I need it to do. (on the street - I'm not going offroad with it. I have a WR250R for that..) I only just came across your YT channel today! (subbed) Great video too. It is packed full of facts about this bike. We've got more options these days than we have in a long, long time so it's a difficult decision to make when it comes to pulling the trigger on a motorcycle nowadays - well, if you can find anything in stock to pull the trigger on lol!

I just ordered a 2022 CB500X in Honda red. I think this bike is an awesome adventure bike (light on adventure in stock form) with tons of options to make it what you want it to be. As far a chain over shaft, the chain is s much lighter and cheaper option (for initial sale price). I've had shaft drive that leaked and required an expensive repair. Myself, I prefer belt drive. Belts these days can outlive a chain. Honda obviously is keeping the price attractive by losing standard features like a center stand! It is what is is!

I'm still surprised that Honda has not put out a higher trim "ADV" model of this bike, what with the popularity of the Rally Raid mods. The bike is already pretty decent (needs better tires) on dirt and gravel but they could take it to the next level. The demand is clearly there, and they'll still sell lots of Africa Twins.

I picked my '22 cb500x about a month ago. I love this bike. I haven't tried any hardcore trails yet but it takes dirt farm trails pretty good. Gravel is squirrelly with these street tires. On road it's great, very comfortable ride and plenty power even on the highway. Changes direction easy, feels lighter than it is, suspension is as good as it gets on a stock bike. As far as shaft drive, no thanks. The chain is quiet on this bike and I'd rather not pay another grand for it.

@@HondaProKevin I do like a drive shaft on a bike like a BMW R. They are very low maintenance but they are heavy and take a good bit of power before getting to the ground. I don't think the 500 has enough power to lose another chunk to driveshaft.

@@chadkline4268 from a longterm maintenance point of view driveshaft is less expensive, but I think Honda's goal is to get the bike to the customer cheaper. I don't see 100's of chains in any of my bikes future, or sprockets. I do have the option to change sprockets if i want to experiment with different final drive ratios, and if i ever did have an incident in the field chain and sprocket is much easier repair.

I think there is plenty of people out there who ride dual sports now like me, could live without some off road ability as a tradeoff for extra road comfort, but can't quite easily accept the compromise of CBX so easily. Those people want cheap to buy cheap to run do it all bikes so bigger then 500cc isn't an option. Thats where NX500 should come in for "traditional" people, and KTM 490 for those willing to take a small leap of faith with all new factory all new engine. I really think those 2 will be the 2 most important motorcycles of 2023 with the adv segment rising and general public thinking more conservativly and not spending big money at the moment.

I have this new 2022 model (in red), 2000+ miles already in th clock. Overall, I love it, and I am, what some would call, an "experienced rider" (which would only refer to the fact that I started riding nearly 3 decades ago, and not to my skill level :) ). What would I change? Wind protection (just under 6 feet, I found it useless without a clip-on screen), gear ratios (way too short in my opinion), and maybe tweaking the seating position a bit (to bring the handlebar further back, or the seat a bit closer, and increase the knee angle, which I think would suit the bike's style better). That's it. Of course, more power would be nice, but only if it doesn't ruin the current (excellent) character of the engine (it really is a very likeable power plant, even compared to my 110HP CBR 600 F4i, which of course is a different league...but this little 471 cc engine still manages somehow to put a big smile on my face, every time, for months now)

In my opinion chain drive is the best/most versatile drive system out there. Belts can be hard/time consuming to change. Shaft drive is low maintenance but you can’t tune the gearing, and when it does fail is more expensive and harder to change than sprockets and chain.

@@HondaProKevin I'm just going to be buying my first bike hopefully this year and was looking at the new CB500X. (if you can find one) When I looked back at the used bikes for sale they are few and far between and selling for at or near their original MSRP even with thousands of miles on them. (Again if you can find one) 2016-2017 CB500X with 4-7k miles are listed for $5k-7k. Maybe just a sign of the times but my local dealer looked and there were only 3 new CB500X's indicated for delivery in their system in my Tristate area. 1 bike per state. Used bikes are hard to find too so the prices are astronomical. When 5 year old bikes are listed for the same price as brand new bikes and you can't find any available you can bet that some healthy manufacturer price hikes are coming.

I wish these "adventure" bikes came with dirt friendly tires. I'm looking into getting a bike to take on the TAT and every single "adventure" bike comes with street tires. So if I pay $8k after taxes and fees I then have to spend another $300-$500 on "adventure" tires. If manufactures what to label these bikes as "adventure" they need to be able to go on an adventure all using street rubber does is make new inexperienced riders take these bikes to places that they shouldn't on street tires.

  • @HondaProKevin

I'm with you on that one! However, I think we know the real reasoning behind it... Most people that buy these aren't going to take them off-road and they'll see pavement their entire life or at least 90% of it. If Honda put more dirt friendly tires on them, then they'd have the majority of buyers complaining about how they have to put more street friendly tires on there and manufacturers are always going to cater to the majority. From my experience of selling adventure and dual-sport motorcycles for 15 years, you'd be surprised at just how many people will never take them off the street. I'm not knocking the people that don't take their adventure bikes off-road, I'm just saying ;)
