    Went to State of Ohio learn to ride and got my motorcycle endorsement. I advised by friends at my age of 79, I should get a neighborhood ride so I put down a deposit on a Grom. After thinking about for couple of weeks, decided I need bike for travel on rural roads and gravel. While I was at the dealer looking other bikes, they rolled out the 2022 CB500X on the show room floor. Before it had time to cast a shadow, I change my the deposit over and rode it off the lot the next day. Spent $1,400 engine guard, skid plate, luggage rack, pannier racks, tool box, Garmin Zumo XT GPS and holder, windshield extender, side stand foot, center stand, highway pegs, socket outlet, and a SAE outlet for air pump. Center stand was for winter storage and with a wood block under the front of the skid plate, wheels off the floor. I discovered the tilt engine kill switch the fist time I dropped and verified that I could lift her. I have added two more, as usual, stupid low speed mistakes. By the speedometer and the GPS, the bike will do 105 mph with a little left near the red line, at interstate 75 mph it sucks gas at 41 mpg, but on the side roads where you see America you'll get 68 mpg. I’ve had zero problems with the bike for first 5,100 miles. .

    Biggest problem with cb500x is is getting one. My dealership got exactly 1 last year. Fortunately it was mine, but I put my deposit down as soin as it was announced and still waited months to get it. Afterwards the allotment was cancelled. Maybe '23 will be different. I hope so because I think it's a great bike and Honda is missing out on a lot of satisfied customers.

    Just took delivery today, Brand New 2022 model, it has been on the showroom floor for a year so picked it up at an even further reduced price. Purchased this as a "run around" bike and something light and easy to take a short run up into the hills and twisties. This bike is back up to my R1200GSA and R1250 RT so it is indeed in good company. As to the CB500X, simplicity and ease of riding makes this a fantastic bike to just jump on and go, but clearly has the ability and capability to be dressed up into a fully fledged Off Road Tourer and Adventure bike with some basic add ons if needed.

    I finally got one in August and have 4500 miles on it now (mid October). It's a fun bike to ride on dirt roads and keeps up fine on the freeway. I'm averaging 69 mpg which is insane! Stock tires are less than optimal for dirt/gravel. The hand grips are uncomfortable and will get replaced very soon. The display is so-so at best. Wish it had the AT display!

Still getting used to the buzziness that comes with the higher RPMs than the GS I had before, but I like it more and more every time I ride. It's peppy, fun and looks great. Speed isn't an issue - I live in Norway where highway speeds are limited anyway. Besides, what's the hurry? It's done everything I've asked of it this year. Looking forward to years of enjoyment.

    Did the front sprocket upgrade on my 2020 model, trust me, it's a different bike, far more relaxed. The sprocket costs around 20 Euro, takes about an hour to do if you have a main stand and is just amazing. Remember, if you don't like it, it's an hour to put the old one back on. I would heartily recommend it, and very much doubt that you wouldn't be happy with it.

    agree, Honda is doing great at prices unlike Yamaha... mt07 went from 5999€ 2014 to 6999 in 2020 to 7999 in 2024... that's ridicolous and still had his traditional (not so good) fork. meanwhile cb500x went from 6150€ in 2012 to 7390 to 2024 NX500 and nx500 has so many upgrades and cost only 100€ more than 2022 cb500x, meanwhile Yamaha charge 500€ more for mt07 with new dashboard compared to 7499 for mt 07 with old dashboard

    Bought my CB500x last week from a large dealer in the midwest (US).... right out of the freight crate that same day. I was thinking about waiting for the new scrambler, but there is no sign they are coming to the US anytime soon and dealer said they haven't heard from Honda on scrambler. They only got 3 of the CB500x models in all of 2023, with mine being the 3rd and final. They aren't confident 2023 will be any better. Got to test ride it - clutch is very easy, seating position is comfortable (I'm 6' with 33" inseam, 170lbs), has reasonable pickup, decent suspension, decent brakes, and runs smooth. I'm not a fan of the green color, uggh. I might mod the seat or put a Seat Concepts rally seat on. Can't wait for warmer weather and I'll take it Cherohala and Tail of the Dragon.

    I added one of these a few weeks ago to, I also have the CRF1100 bought from yours truly, last good deal I've had on a new bike. Anyways, the 500x is great, it sips gas, haven't done a full test on MPG but it's very good, front brakes are good, back brake is terrible, fork is great, shock is budget but once set to your weight, it ain't bad. Gearing is low, some like it, some won't, I put a 16t on the front but it lost some snap to be expected, verdict is still out on that, might go back to stock, these little engines like to rev. My biggest complaint is footpeg position, I'm not tall but man, this bike folds you up way too much, I added 1" peg lowering kit, made a big difference, also have a tall seatconcepts 1.5" tall seat yet to be installed. All in all, to me, it's a great bike, just don't ride the AT:) Great work Kevin!

    I would strongly consider buying one, but there are several reasons it will never happen: Dealers in my area (Phoenix, Arizona area) will not allow test rides, or they will promise to shred all the documents and take back the bike if you bring it back within 10 minutes/10 miles of actually buying the bike. Not much pressure there! That $7199 price sounds nice, but then there’s the following charges, some are approximate: $400 Destination charge $200 Freight surcharge $599 “Doc” fee $488 Assembly charge $561 Tax $155 Registration fee Total: about $9603 out the door, which is about $2404 above the price of the bike! On top of this, there are never any available, at least in my area. I would be a fool to pay a dealer their required fees to buy one of their new, or used motorcycles.

  • @HondaProKevin

    @HondaProKevin

    Жыл бұрын

    lol that one cracked me up bud as you're not wrong there, so many of the manufacturers make it waaaaay too difficult to turn it off. ...and sadly, Honda doesn't make it easy on the CB500X like they do with some models as there is no off switch for the ABS on her. Rally Raid used to make an easy "kit" to be able to turn it on / off for the older CB500X but I haven't seen them release anything for this latest generation. Plus, oddly enough they've removed the old kit from their website that they used to offer but here's the instructions www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/image/data/PDF/RRP500Honda%20ABSv1.pdf . Long story short though, the only remedy I've seen so far on the 22+ CB500X is by pulling the fuse. Why they all don't put an easy on / off switch on these bikes baffles me...
