New Gorilla Orphan Confiscated from Poachers

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

On October 8, 2011, national park rangers from Virunga National Park confiscated a baby Grauer's gorilla from three poachers through a sting operation. The baby had been taken from the wild and most likely saw his family die trying to protect him. He was named Shamavu, after the ranger who rescued him. After arriving at the Senkwekwe sanctuary, the Gorilla Doctors arrived to perform a health exam. The Gorilla Doctors are dedicated to saving the lives of the critically-endangered mountain and Grauer's gorillas of Rwanda, Uganda, and DRC through health care. Our international team of veterinarians is the only group providing these animals with direct, hands-on care in the wild. www.gorilladoctors.org

Poor little guy has been traumatized. He just allows them to poke and look at time and stays quiet. I am glad that they have him. He has a chance to heal.

God, this is so heartbreaking. It's just a child. A small and terribly frightened child who knows that his family is no longer with him. As he clings to the woman, touches the sleeve, turns away from the doctor. All his movements, eyes. He looks like a human child. You are amazing people, I admire you. Thank you for your work and rescuing these adorable animals. I like these sounds that a man makes. With which gorillas calm children. So sweet and sad

Thank you everyone for giving the baby a safe and rewarding life. Such a sweet little boy, big expressive eyes and long lashes. I look forward to a day when all poachers are caught and thrown in a dark cell by themselves.

Can u imagine what this poor baby must be thinking? After watching your family murdered the baby needs love immediately. So cruel what poachers do

Why would anyone want to buy a gorilla baby knowing how big and aggressive they will grow up to be? I guess there is a market for the poor babies. Something needs to be done about the buyers. If they were shot on sight as some commenting on this thread have suggested I think it would help stop the killing of the family just to get the baby.

Jonisfilm I agree shooting them on sight is a bit excessive....THEY SHOULD TORTURE THEM FIRST AND THEN SHOOT THEM!!!! There is a special place in hell for poachers and their sympathizers who say it’s excessive to shoot them on site!

Jonisfilm, These people wouldn't have the temperament or the stomach to involve themselves with poachers. It's the anonymity of the internet. Similar to little boys playing at war..."I'll shoot you and then I'll kill you and then I'll run over you with my super duper tank and on and on..." All angry, righteous talk.

They don't stop, animals have a right to live, When a human kills another human it is against the law and he/she can end up losing their lives, animals should have rights to.
