I'm so glad you guys finally reacted to Jane! What a killer song! 🔥 The amazing Mickey Thomas sang lead on this one. You guys also experienced his incredible vocals on the Elvin Bishop track "Fooled Around And Fell In Love", which you reacted to in December 2021.
I can remember hearing this on the radio for the first time. I was blown away. The vocals, the guitar solo, the drive of it. That's rock n roll, baby! Unforgettable.
Micky Thomas, singing his ass off, he also sang for Elvin Bishop and the song, Fooled around and fell in love, absolutely incredible
The drummer is Aynsley Dunbar, one of the greatest rock drummers in history. He was also the drummer for Journey for a number of years.

Mickey Thomas is a phenomenal vocalist and powers up to the upper register and doesn't usually sing in falsetto. Pure vocal talent...
This song has one of the best build ups to a guitar solo ever , especially the 'grunt' sound Mickey Thomas makes at the start
I think what everyone needs to acknowledge first off when it comes to Jefferson Starship is Mickey Thomas’ amazing vocals. He is one of the most underrated yet one of the all time great rock and roll lead singers. His range is ridiculous and right up there with the best of the best. He sang on the Elvin Bishop song “Fooled around and fell in love” and nobody really ever acknowledged it was him or put two and two together to say “Hey! Isn’t that the guy from Jefferson Starship?” Give this man credit - he is probably one of the top 3 greatest lead singers of all time.

Mickey Thomas was recruited for Jefferson Starship because of the singing he did for Elvin Bishop..."Fooled Around And Fell In Love" back in 1976...he was the perfect fit for JS after Marty Balin left.

This song and Hold the line By TOTO 1978 SOUND A LIKE
Craig Chaquico is one of the best hard rock guitar players of all time. He can be flashy when he wants to be but he can also play just the perfect note at the perfect time - Billy Gibbons would be proud. His solo and fill work on this song are great. But then listen to how smooth he plays all the way through Runaway. Fantastic!
Alright my babies.... I was fortunate to see Starship twice, and Mickey Thomas solo once. This group has decades of great songs. 💯🔥🎼🎶🎹🎸🥁🎤😎👍🏼
Started as a back up singer to ole Elvin Bishop that shore can play. His “ Fooled around and fell in love” Perfection. In a blue Jean jumpsuit!
A great rocker from Jefferson Starship. Mickey is an incredible singer.
Unfortunately I only saw them once in concert (1981), but it turns out that this was when the band had a mix of original members (Paul Kantor, Grace Slick) plus new ones (Mickey Thomas). It was one hell of a show. This was my second concert and ties for second with ABBA among my list of best concerts ever.
Find Your Way Back is another hard rockin banger of theirs. You will love it just as much!
I blew out 3 pairs of speakers in my truck because of this song. I'm 62 so I was a young guy then. Thanks for all y'alls hard work. Love from Southeast Texas
Love all the vocalists of all 3 incarnations! But Mickey Thomas is my fave! ❤
One of the best albums ever in my opinion but so overlooked by many.
It's 1985, you're 18, the end of your senior year driving around your little town in your 73' black Cougar with your besties, summer is finally back, the windows are down and this song is on blast and for just a second everything and anything seems possible!
Love that you're giving props to the drummer: Aynsley Dunbar who has played with everyone from Journey to Zappa to Whitesnake to Jefferson Starship. Dude is a legend.
Try “Find Your Way Back” next. “Jane” was my introduction to all iterations of the band when it came out in 7th grade. I promptly spent the next several years digesting all their music prior.
I was blown away the first time I heard this song. Jane and Miracles are my favorite Jefferson (insert flying mode here) songs!
This is one of the best rock songs ever!
"Find your way back" has to be next on your list! J you'll love it!

A while back, you reacted to "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" by Elvin Bishop...... Same Vocalist, Mickey Thomas as this song. He is nothing short of amazing!
Seventies' radio magic. It was such a great time to be alive.
Jay & Amber, you'll love Jefferson Starship's "Count On Me" and "Play On Love" !!!!. Jefferson Starship was the best of the 3 iterations of this band IMO. Craig Chaquico did lead guitar on "Jane"! edit - the two songs I suggested have Marty Balin on lead vocals, who sang "Miracles" which you reacted to 2 months ago.

"The Girl With The Hungry Eye's" My favorite for Starship! Rock on.
Mickey Thomas, Brad Delp, Burton Cummings. All three are some of the greatest voices to grace the microphone.
"Winds of Change" is also a really good underrated song by them.
One of the best Starship tunes imo. Great reaction as always from you two.
He knew... It was the piano that takes this song from good to next level. It highlights the syncopated guitar chunk. And the vocals riding on top of it all.
"Find Your Way Back", "Stranger" and "Winds of Change" should be your next Jefferson Starship songs.
Love this. Mickey Thomas’ vocals are perfect.
Jay, that's not falsetto that Mickey Thomas is doing; he is an incredibly gifted singer and that is a belt mixed with some head voice that is just perfect and so resonant. And he does it over and over and it just blows my mind every time. I loved White Rabbit when it came out when I was a tiny kid, and I still do today, and then I associated it more with the hippie stuff from the late 60s, but then by the time this came out I was in junior high and I couldn't believe what I was hearing between the banging piano and the rock guitar, and so I learned how to play that piano part immediately, which isn't all that difficult. It took me until years later after playing and singing in bands to realize what Mickey Thomas is doing there vocally, and that to me is the primary reason that I can listen to this song absolutely over and over and over again, just to hear him do that stuff. And the overall arrangement of it is fantastic the way it builds up and then hands it off to the guitar and then the guitar builds up to that high crescendo and then hands it back over to Mickey on the vocals, it's just phenomenal. Amber, I have one from slightly before this that I bet you will love. It's called Runaway. It was a hit on the radio and it's right up your alley.
Another song that reminds me of the skating rink. Such a great jam.
When they added Craig Chaquico and Mickey Thomas they became a different band. I call it The San Fransisco Sound. There were three notable bands from that area with a real similar vibe between 78-82 : Santana, Jefferson Starship and Journey. The key to the sound was the vocals Alex Ligertwood with Santana, Steve Perry with Journey and Mickey Thomas with Jefferson Starship all had that range that created that signature sound.

This is an iconic song for Jefferson Starship!!!
'Jane' is my favorite tune by these guys, such a solid riff to drive it. I'm going to try and steer you two over to an awesome band you've never listened too. 'Lighthouse', not to be confused with 'Edison Lighthouse'. I know you'll like 'One Fine Morning' by Lighthouse just as much as you liked this song. It's as fire as it gets. A bit like a up tempo Blood Sweat & Tears or Chicago tune what with the Horns, Vocal harmonies and general funkiness of the song. Cheers.

70s rock NOT TO SHABBY ...
Jefferson Starship rocks on the song Runaway and Find your way back to a heart ❤️❤️
1 of the best live acts I've ever seen especially during the mid-70's. "Ride the Tiger" is another of their "kick you in the ass" tunes.
My very favorite song by them. The vocals have the same vibe as Kiss I WAS MADE FOR LOVING YOU ❤️ 😍
Craig Chaquico wrote the guitar and I believe bass parts for this song. He started recording with them as a teenager and they glued facial hair on him so he could play in clubs(underage). He also helped write, find your way back. He writes jazz new age stuff now that he's older, and it's also very good.
Jefferson Starship is very under rated as a group. This is a great song. Another one I really like is "Stranger".
There's a short youtube clip of Mickey Thomas singing part of "Fooled Around and Fell In Love" with just an acoustic guitar acommpaniment on Howard Stern's show that showcases Mickey's vocal talent. Almost a MUST listen for Mickey fans.
I mentioned Jane many times. Glad you listened 😉. This is my fave JS song and probably their most rockin. Stranger is another song that again is different than this but features how good the vocals are between Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick.
"Good Heart", "Find Your Way Back", also an all time classic Jefferson Airplane "Somebody To Love"!
By far one of my favorite all time songs !!! 😃
One of the BEST Rock songs ever !!!!! This brings back so many memories !!!

1979 AMBER here is your 70s rock.
This entire album is worth the time to listen!
I walked into the gas station with my not yet 2-year-old daughter one day when this tune came on the system. She said, "Mama, there's Jane" and started rockin' out. The guy behind the counter saw her, cranked it up and was jammin' with us. She told him, "Mama likes Jane." He replied, "I think You like Jane."
"Find Your Way Back" is definitely next on your list!
It’s not so much that we know you two so well that we know what you will like, and that’s what we suggest. It’s really about what WE LOVED to listen to when these songs came out on the radio. Radio DJ’s back then we’re Very in touch with their audience. And we, as listeners, had tremendous power back then, which we don’t have anymore. We could call the radio station and tell them what we wanted to hear. When a DJ would play something for the first time, people could call and request it again. And again. And again! We got great music because we had that relationship with the DJ’s….we don’t have that anymore. And so these decisions are being made FOR us now! Plus, record labels INVESTED in great bands over the long term. It cost them a lot to do that. They don’t invest like they used to.

Great song, great band! Mickey Thomas is an amazing singer! Check out Find Your Way Back from them as well! Also, if you want to check out a group with a lead singer with an insanely high voice check out Triumph Fight The Good Fight live at the US Festival 1983, phenomenal band! Thank you!
Absolutely fire for sure, Jay . As many have said in the comments, Mickey Thomas is singing his head off. One of the all-time best R&R vocalists. I want to recommend a song to y'all -- while listening to my playlist today during yard work, I came across a jamming song similar to Jane. Satisfied -- by Richard Marx. I haven't seen many reactions to Marx. He is known mostly for his love songs and ballads, but he has a few pop-rock songs that are very good. And a couple of his slow songs are good, too. My favorite slow one is Endless Summer Nights. Beautiful melody. Romantic lyrics.
Glad you showing some love for Aynsley Dunbar banging on that drum kit. It's a fun song to play.
This song just kicks!!! I agree, always my favorite Jefferson Starship tune. I love the drums, the screaming guitar, the keyboards and the vocals. Just a killer tune, timeless!!!
This is by far my favorite song by Jefferson Starship. Having been a keyboardist for ? years, they are great here, but just filling in for the greatness around them. The timing is perfect here. It's just fire from top to bottom. ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 ✌
Jay and Amber - I think you'd really enjoy "Ride the TIger" with Paul Kanter on lead vocals, released in 1974 about the time they were transitioning from Jeffereson Airplane to Jefferson Starship. The sound and guitar work is incredible, and reminiscent of the early 70s sound.
"Jane" is from an album called "Freedom At Point Zero", the first album on which the incomparable Mickey Thomas sang lead vocals. Check out "The Girl With the Hungry Eyes" from the same album. The guitars on that song are amazing.
I freakin' love this song. The guitar is incredible in this song. All of it, the tone, the riff, the ripping solo. Great vocal too. And big fat drums.
I absolutely love watching you 2 jam out and enjoy these older genres of music..the looks on your faces and the chair dancing makes me smile. Thank you for your enthusiasm and enjoyment in your reactions😊
Do you want a 4th version of this band to listen to? The KBC Band was a side project by original Jefferson Airplane members Paul Kantner, Marty Balin and Jack Cassidy. Hence the KBC. You should watch the official video for their song America.
