I know he wasn’t everybody’s favourite, but could you imagine how chuffed Bill Kenwright would be now if he was still with us . This stadium really is the fourth grace , it’s going to be amazing for not just the footy, the whole of Merseyside should appreciate what it’s going to bring to the region

Hi Nick, The east stand barrel cladding looks amazing now it's complete, also the East plaza, is coming on in leaps and bounds, what an entrance to this amazing facility. I have to admit I really loved your tour video, I think the dressing room is unbelievable and look forward to seeing more internal updates in the coming months, the South stand walkway is very impressive and what can you say regarding the West plaza it is awe-inspiring and the canal link will be superb, like the South side of the stadium, the North side of the stadium is just as impressive, taking in the views of the docks and the coastline to the North of the stadium. And the roof is looking awesome, soon to be seen will be the solar panels on the South end of the roof, I can't wait to see the finished product and the pride it will give our supporters, and Mersayside. The crane outside the club shop has now been moved to the west stand. It looks like there might be two teams working on the barrel cladding. They have also started paving in front of the club shop. Good to see both access hatches complete and roof, almost done.

Nick, Well done on planning to make the England QF and I hope that you managed to attend it Ok. It'll be interesting to learn what you made of the whole experience. Maybe you were the key to making them play a little better. Some suggestions for your midweek focus: 1) Make it clear that LoR told you that the completion date quoted is THEIR completioin date and not the same as the stadium being properly finished. EFC are to carry out laying of "The Everton Way", for instance, plus any other of the 'finishing touches', via separate contracts. 2) Have a closer look at the "+-shaped" concrete bases situated along the south concourse, near the Nelson Dock Balustrade, which are, or will be, in line with each of the 14 South Stand main steels bases. The concrete bases are for mounting the arched wind baffles. 3) Take a closer look at the frames now installed around the trees at the SE corner of the site, which will have perforated metal baffles in them and will act as supports for diametrically-opposing metal seats tucked into 2 of the 4 corners. the baffles will have imagery etched into/painted on them as signage and to show EFC icons or branding. 4) It looks like the last of the north perimeter trees are being installed. 5) I note that they have dismantled the scaffolding from around the southernmost Gate Tower, since your tour there.

I was thinking exactly that and wondered if the designers had taken the surrounding architecture into account... Pretty unusual for our city, as most of the recent buildings are a feckin' eyesore and do not blend well with the existing structures!

David:yes, it was a fundamental intention of Dan Meis, the architect, to reflect the architecture of Albert Dock, the Titanic Hotel and the Tobacco Warehouse. As a result the bottom half of the stadium is 'grounded' in the historical nature of the surrounds, whilst then adding the futuristic finish to the top.

Great video Nick. I love how the completed barrel cladding on the East stand makes the stadium look like a bowl from the side angle. As for the corner stand roofs, will they be painted black to match the black brick cladding? It looks that way from the BMD design video.

Lee: I am expecting it to be painted as you say, as it is in the design imagery. It is one of the questions I submitted but I've not seen it answered yet. I think it'll be a dark-grey rather than black (like the panels on the Mansard Roof and at the corners of the concrete rooves with the terracing bowl). If you look at the West Stand roof, you can see that they had painted the concrete rook a lighter-grey, under the barrel-cladding, but there's no sign of that on the East Stand roof.

Tony: Yes, the whole site grounds will be open on all days. Access to internal spaces will be all normal trading hours for the Club Shop, restricted hours for whatever EFC finally decide to use the Pump House and Hydrauic Tower for (supposedly a cafe and museum) and then a 'controlled access to the West Stand for conferences, tours, hospitality etc. Longer term, there is a plan for a Mersey Walk all the way from the National Garden to BMD, including through the Peel land/Liverpool Waters development to the south of BMD, when that is completed, with the probable terminal being the Pump House.

What are the evenly spaced out dots you can see from above on the north and west stands

Patrick: yes, they were installed in November, 2023. If you look closely at any droner's videos when low down over the pitch, or even in their internal tour this last week, you can see the spotlights mounted on short rails on the front rails of the walkway that travels all round the stadium though the roof trusses. They are grouped in 3 to 5, laterally, and with their top covers they look a bit like Speed or ANPR cameras. LED lights mean they are much smaller and brighter than traditional stadium lights so you're looking for small grey metal structures.

Anyone notice on the completed barrel cladding the more shaded panels? I didn’t know if it was an intention in the design to make a pattern or it was just what was behind the specific sections. However, now the west side is complete the pattern doesn’t quite match all the way along which I can’t help noticing. Although not yet complete, the east side looks to be forming more of a synchronised pattern.

East barrel cladding is complete, Matthew, not the west. Thought there would be an extra air exhaust vent on the northern part of the east barrel cladding, but they didn’t install one despite there apparently being an extraction fan there. A bit odd but part of the design, it seems.

Will they have material to cover the sections where the barrel cladding meets the edge of the roof?

Azul: I'm not sure about the detail of your question with regard to which roof you are referring. The standing-seam roof ends overlapping the inner edge of a broad gutter and the top of the barrel-cladding starts immediately at the edge of the other side of the gutter. There is an intentional gap between the bottom edge of the barrel-cladding and the top of the concrete roof of the stand below. Do either of those details now answer your question or have I completely missed the point you're making?

its really tight against the boundary yes, but, there are very few turnstiles there (away only I think) so people won't be round there in any great number. it's mostly back of house functions - deliveries and wot not

Billyboy: I don't think anyone will notice, in time. Apart from a couple or so thousand Away Fans needing to access the NNE portals, almost immediately after the overhang starts, no one else has any need to access the North Side apart from 'staff'. The north side is really for vehicle access and site functions. No Home GA fans will notice it from the East Plaza, with the Pump House, Hydraulic Tower, screening trees and on match days, a stage, neither will any at the West Concourse as they will only look straight through the fence to the docks and Mersey beyond.

Great looking stadium, only thing I don't like and I get it's personal preference some will like some won't but the fake brick panels for me ruin it. They look cheap and would look better like concrete columns, just my opinion. One thing I think they should do is fit blue lighting in the black columns and hook it up to noise generated in the stadium on night matches like a stereo equaliser, bouncing up and down to the noise fans are generating. Just at the front entrance side, I just think it would be cool and something different, not seen it on any other stadium before, and possibly be good for fans to see how they are creating an atmosphere and of course when a goal is scored. Inside the stadium looks like it could be an intimidating stadium to come to if the fans are on it, with it being all close to the action.

Scott: I respect your opinion. Just a point of detail: they are real bricks, not fake. they are just keyed onto concrete panels, which you can't see from the outside. You've come up with an interesting idea re your equaliser lights although fans inside wouldn't be able to see them outside. There are plenty of potential illuminated panels to be erected before the stadium comes into use, which includes the side-panels of the Main Portals of the East and West Stands, so you never know.

Have noticed all the seats are blue ... Any ideas if we are to incorporate white seats with designs like EFC or 1878 ?

The club decided all seats will be blue. White seats will be introduced if a sponsor wants to pay for their name or logo, but no plans to at the moment.

It's common knowledge that a new North stand perimeter fence will return a strip of land back to United Utilities. Will there be an equivalent South Stand perimeter fence to return a strip of land back to the owners of Nelson Dock? If so how wide will the strip be?

Everton will retain up to the northern boundary of Nelson Dock. The club’s southern boundary line will run from west to east (Mersey to Regent Road). All the land to the south of that line (currently used for storing building materials and LoR’s portakabins) will eventually be handed back to the landowner at the end of the year.

We'll have access to (almost) all of it: there is a new fence installed a few feet from the edge of Nelson Dock along the southern boundary of the stadium site - it's even got Leitch truss patterns in it.

is there a reason why there seems to be more exhaust vents on the terrace/mersey side cladding than the other side

pete: yes, the West Stand is the "Main Stand" and it has many more Hospitality Lounges and Satellite Kitchens than does the East Stand.

Hi, the white buildings to the left of the East Stand and Plaza. Are they Everton FCs or the Contractors? Are they temporary or permanent? Are the Club Administrative Offices going to be located inside the stadium or another building such as the white ones?

they're temporary offices for Laing O'Rourke and won't be there after stadium completion. That location is actually part of Nelson Dock and won't be part of the stadium site afterwards. Club admin is currently in the Liver Building, which is part (49.9%) owned by Farhad Moshiri - I don't know what's happening to that after the club is sold, I don't know if that's included in the sale (I don't think so, it's owned via a different company belonging to Moshiri), but the club will probably continue to lease offices there for the short term at least.

@@TomKenyon1878 At the Euros, UEFA insists on the name of the city on a board at the half way line so the TV audience around the world know where the game is taking place. The concern I have is that it’ll say ‘Liverpool’ and a lot of viewers will think this magnificent ground is LFC’s 🤨
