He is still going strong and making big $$$$ because God's got him!!! Please try and channel your thoughts on to more positive things so that you can lead a more fulfilling life.

Bobby Brown was a great singer, dancer, and performer. His vocals on the early songs in NE and as lead are evidence of that. He was second lead singer in NE because of his vocal ability. Many have stated that he sound better than Ralph on songs. Don't let hatred cloud your judgement of true talent by trying to underrate Bobby. Besides, no one sells albums and becomes one of the top R&B artist in history based on performances. Bobby was that dude and the King!!!!!!

I am a hugh B Brown fan. Yes, "King" Bobby was meant to go solo. He had great stage presence back then. It was all in God's plan. If he had remained in the group he would not have been the huge solo success that he was. It showed the others that they could branch out on their own. In hindsight without Bobby leaving there would be no BBD, Ralph, Johnny, or Heads of State. Although Johnny had a solo career and wasn't signed with MCA, he would not have been an addition to NE. Johnny saved the group because they were getting older and MCA didn't know how to market them. Johnny gave the group a more mature sound. Bobby's first album "King of Stage" went gold. Bobby's second album "Don't Be Cruel" went 7X-8X platinum (depends on the site). The album had several #1 hits. This album took R&B into the stratusphere making him a superstar. His third album " Bobby" went double platinum (underrated because the NewJackSwing era was ending). The NE "Heartbreak" album featuring Johnny Gill was released at the same time that Bobby's "Don't Be Cruel" album and went 3X-4X platinum (varies). This album had Ralph and Johnny singing lead and Ricky sometimes co-lead and could not touch Bobby's album by a long shot. BBD first album with top singles "Poison " and "Do Me Baby" only went 3X-4x platinum (again depends on the site). It is played more today because of its upbeat hip-hop cultural effect which identifies with today's generation. Don't get me wrong, it is a great song. Ralph and Johnny's first solo album had platinum success. But no ones first, second, or third album, etc. in the NE family or BBD as of today has reached the platinum success of Bobby Brown's "Don't Be Cruel" album. In the mid-90's they all suffered record sells due to the end of the NJS era. Bobby was the most successful solo artist of all the N E family including Johnny. People tend to think that Mike was the biggest financially because of his groups, but truthfully Bobby was. In the 90's Mike had NE money, BBD money, and his group money. Bobby had NE money, his solo money, and Whitney money. His wife was the highest paid actress during the bodyguard era, and she had a superb solo career. She was unmatched. Due to a prenuptual agreement, he left the marriage basically broke in 2007. As of today Mike is better off financially than any member of NE. They are all millionnaires except Ronnie ( if stats are correct). Love NE 4 Life❤. RIP Whitney and BK❤.

Just reading through the comments and I see you are a Ralph Tresvant fan. So am I!!! I think he is the greatest, most prolific front man of a group since Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops and MJ of the J5/Jacksons. Ralph is the most complete talent in NE (dancing/singing/showmanship/leading a group). That is NOT up for debate. "Do What I Gotta Do" is in my top 5 NE family songs, period. His lead vocals & stacked background harmony vocals on many of NE's hits are a thing of beauty. And he is a fiercely loyal person, which I admire. But the big lesson of NE's career and all the branch off acts within the group is that there was a whole lot of untapped talent within the group besides Ralph. They had success too. And let's keep it real, this is not 1984 anymore. NO ONE in NE is "living off" of Ralph in 2017. I repeat, NO ONE. Bobby, Johnny and BBD ALL have their own careers these days--without Ralph. They ALL tour mostly without Ralph. Only occasionally (mostly bi-annually) do they actually tour as NE in recent years. And even then the tours are like small summer tours. For whatever reason, after "Sensitivity," Ralph never took off as everyone thought he would when he went solo. Even that album sold far LESS than Johnny, Bobby and BBD. That is a fact. Sadly, that has relegated him to either touring with Heads of State, New Edition, or not at all. And assuming what you said was even accurate, he wouldn't even have time to be NE's meal ticket today, as he is a full time radio host. Ralph is a grown man now who is doing well. He loves NE--every member of NE. And NE loves Ralph. And as NE fans, we should be proud of the entire group and not engage in petty debates of the past in the comment section of thirty year old live NE performances.

Bobby was special. Don't get me wrong I love all these guys and what they created in New edition. That was a group effort. But bobby he saw his future long before the rest of them. His drive was incredible, and he created that sound new jack swing... that was new. He hooked up with teddy Riley and that was it... don't be cruel cane out. R and b was so clean before he emerged as a solo and he made it dirty, he got down, he spoke his mind. Bobby just couldn't be tamed he made it his own. And now as the guys have matured I think that Ralph, Johnny, ronnine ricky and mike accept that Bobby was an orginal, exceptional talent and praise him for it. Also they recognize that Bobby has suffered more pain then all the rest of them put togther, its affected his health his spirit and of course his incredible roller coaster career... losing whitney and Bobbie Kris nearly killed him and then his son... and addiction to that mix and you got a receipe for checking out. Bobby didnt... he proved himself to be that strong learn to love himself again find a great woman for a second chance at love and family... and through it all he has his brothers Ralph Johnny ronnie rickie and mike always stand by him... that kind of brotherhood is a blessing. They have been togther most of their lives and they are all still here making the music they love 💘 we heard over 35 years ago. Still going strong and loving every minute of it. I'm so proud of them!!!💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
