Finally a new knife WITHOUT a pocket clip!! So many knives are ruined by a pocket clip. Yeah, you can clip it to your pocket, but they ruin both the comfort and look of a knife. Knives went decades without clips and people managed to survive somehow.

Pocket clips don’t ruin knives..how could you even say that,I mean, most knives come with removable pocket clips any way...how could a knife possibly “ruined” when all you have to do is remove a screw or 2?I mean, atleast most knives give you that option, unfortunately with this particular knife if you want a pocket clip you are just assed out

Garrett Ferrell I have more than one knife that has a pocket clip on one side and no scale just bare metal, and the other side has either wood or acrylic. So removing the clip doesn’t solve the problem. I also have knives where the pocket clip is just part of the frame bent to make the clip, so again you can’t easily fix it. I agree with you that a lot of knives can be fixed easily, I just wish all knives with clips gave you the option to have no clip with no obvious clue it had been removed.

Not having a pocket clip is a deal breaker for me. I think they expect us to just drop inside the pocket. This method of carrying doesn't work because it turns horizontaly inside the pocket and start printing a lot not to mention the disconfort it causes.

I never heard of them until I saw the clip from Grindworx. BUT stay clear of those Chinese clones. The only two good knives I got from China are not autos. The Ruike and the Efengro. I paid less than $30 for each of them and I like them better than my Benchmade. Very fast flippers. Faster by far than my Launch 1

Nothing wrong with AUS-8 in a front opener. 30 years ago it was considered a “super steel”. The Kershaw knives are all side openers though. So you’re comparing apples and oranges. I wouldn’t hesitate to drop $100 on an OTF with AUS-8 as long as it has a freakin pocket clip. I’ve got a Kershaw Launch 7 with a CPM 154 blade that cost $90 on sale next to me. Also next to me is an H&K Turmoil with a D-2 blade that cost me just over $200. Next to those is an Ontario Knife Co. R.A.T. Model #1 with an AUS-8 blade. The D-2 H&K is a sonofabitch to sharpen but it holds a hell of an edge. The Kershaw in CPM 154 is easier to sharpen and will hold a good edge. The AUS-8 Ontario is easy to sharpen and holds an edge almost as well as the Kershaw. I haven’t done a side by side cutting test. But from my observations, the CPM 154 is only marginally better than AUS-8. My Protech TR-3 with 154CM is comparable to the Kershaw and Ontario. Heat treating has more to do with whether a knife will hold an edge or not. A well done AUS-8 blade will out perform a poorly heat treated S30V blade. AUS-8 is used by knife makers for many reasons. The main reason is that it’s a good steel that is more forgiving in the heat treat process than some steels like D-2. I didn’t intend to write a novel. I’m just bringing up some points you might not have considered or known. If you want an okay OTF, you’re going to have to pay $100 minimum. If you want a good OTF you’ll have to hand over $200 or more. If you want a really good OTF, you’ll spend $400 or better. OTF’s are expensive knives. Side opening autos are cheaper. That’s just the way it is. The OTF’s have more parts and it takes time to put those parts together into a functioning knife. The more parts, the more likely it will need extra attention to make it function and the more likely it will take skilled worker to fit everything together.

Vin Ellis And? I realize they based it on a classic silhouette, not a design because then it would be side opener. But Case used one of their classic designs and added a pocket clip and assisted opening. There is no reason AKC couldn’t have added a pocket clip or made a version with a dagger blade. They are missing out on a lot of sales just because of the lack of a pocket clip. Even more because of no dagger blade. Many of their other models could use pocket clips as well. There is nothing wrong with using the classic styling of knives of the past for inspiration. But look at the Kershaw Launch 8 or the Protech Godfather to see how it’s done right. Both have pocket clips but retain the classic lines of the Italian stilettos. Both are side opening autos also. I really like the designs of many of the AKC knives, but without pocket clips I’m just not interested in buying any. I might pick up an F-16 for my collection and some giggles but it at least has a pocket clip, so I might carry it. I want to buy an Evo, but I’m not going to because I’ll never carry it.

Vin Ellis What’s the matter little boy? You triggered cause someone doesn’t like what you like? I live in modern times. If I wanted an outdated pocket knife design I would consider your opinion. It doesn’t make much sense to modernize a design and then neglect a modern, normal feature of many other knives. It makes as much sense as you wanting a modern knife that only bears a slight resemblance to older designs and thinking its better without an important modern feature. If you want a “classic” design knife, buy one. I’ve got plenty of classic knives. I just don’t carry them much because I find them inconvenient to get to. I’ve been in situations where I needed to get to my knife quick. Now little boy, if you’re done and have nothing better to add, go on your way. I doubt you’re worthy of anymore of my time. So why not add the pocket clip and then troglodytes that live in mud huts can take off the pocket clips and carry them in the “classic design” way like you do?
