#Squad Thanks for the in depth video. I think my purchase of these will work well for quick setups with live bands.

Hey Rick, one thing you should do when you are screwing the bottom on is do a few turns in the opposite direction before you screw it on so when you actually thread it on the wires are not all twisted inside. It will put less stress on the wires. Sorry if you already do that. I just noticed you didnt in the video. Cool video though. Very informative.

I need your help answering a couple of questions I have about these: 1) I understand there are different brightness modes that determine how long these will operate from the battery, fist question will these run 10 hours at full brightness? 2) Can I run (operate) these while plugged in to a power source? I understand if they won't charge but will they run when plugged in? I don't want to do a gig and they die on me because I have them at full brightness. 3) Is that soundswitch download available yet? Again OUTSTANDING video! I plan to buy these tube lights thanks to your detailed overview and being someone I go to on KZread for other mobile dj intel. Please let me know your thoughts and thanks again!

Any chance the app for the phone can be further developed to replace use of the IR remote. I've found the app could use more functionality compared to the IR mode. The app seems to be more responsive to the master unit versus the IR remote. Thank You!

The tubes need a china based dmx transmitter. You would just plug it into one of your chauvet receivers. The ss pre programmed is full scripted autoloops for moving heads and wash / par lights. Tubes are in the works as well

Hey brother, dope video as usual, so in depth, and explain very well! I like your videos, you and DJ Barr pretty much the only DJ channels I watch. I respect your knowledge and genuinely think that you actually are looking out for the consumer with that being said I do have to talk about the pricing I mean $1100 for the pack of four tubes is absolutely outrageous. They are made in China mass produced, and they really is probably 60 bucks worth of material in each tube LED lights is so cheap right now. I was actually shocked at the price when I went to the website because I was thinking about ordering. I’m not trying to be a jerk in anyway I’m just being honest. They are dope though, especially that sound mode. They look amazing just a little too pricey for my pocket because it’s hard for me to justify the material cost versus the retail price. #squad

Shipping is half the price to get them from there to here. And its market inflation across the board. Shipping is higher material cost is higher. Ever single thing is practically twice the price compared to 2 to 3 years ago.

They seem pretty okay its nice for some ground stuff but These big and long Black Controll areas are just to big for nice stage insals only if you like it with a bit of space in between them

Wire management, ON the power cables on the far side, did you flip which way your tubes go in? If so, did you change the foam around? otherwise, how are you charging when the power chords are on the bottom? Can you shed some more light on this? Thanks

Yeah flipped the top ones opposite. And only plug in when case is open.

really good review but I have a question, ai just got me 4 of this exited to see them go with soundswitch and very dissapointed they dont do much, there is no access to the manu from soundswitch as other lights and choose what effects you like wich limited you to really be part of the show with the others in soundswitch. or is there a way?

You have to really program them into soundswitch. If you noticed we have a complete programmed for you soundswitch solution available to purchase. We will have it updated next month for the tubes with all the effects.

Both lighting is becoming a very impressive lighting company compared to the other big names. Can you tell me if they are working on possibly some can lights that would be a alternative to the APE CANS 2.0. Love all your videos, on the product lines, keep it up

Yes we are working on the prototypes with them right now. Little back and forth cus they litterslly just try and copy the stuf exactly. Vs do that and improve. The first batch was just rgbw. We are having them make them hex with amber and white.

Hey Rick. How do you set up sound active modes 1-3 via dmx control? I set my tube up on the 12 ch option and I could only get sound active mode #0. For reference I tried all the numbers from 221-255 on channel 6 and couldn't get the same sound active modes as you show with the remote. Thanks!

You can use the tubes while powering them. We have done it multiple times now when we attach high up on truss

Great vid Rick as always. I like to keep it simple. I can see the appeal if the pixel mapping for proms / bars / birthdays to be cool but feel for weddings more subtle washes / chases are more elegant etc. i have Ape cans & coins and an 8 case of the IR4’s. I used them last night with the W-app & Donner type transmitter for a wedding. Looked really nice and the Ape colours are much better than the stock Both ones. W-app is has limits to wash effects & chases so i guess i could add these to the same DMX Chanel as the IR4’s and control them from my Ape phone app ? Failing that I’ll just get 4 XL Ape sticks. Are these soo much brighter than the ape sticks ? Thanks

You mentioned limits to the chases with Ape Sticks. To my knowledge there are no chases at all with their products.

Way brighter than ape sticks. But no clue if that would work. You should really consider actual dmx with sound switch. Theres no limitations that way

Negative. Ir-4 and tubes have a different chanel grouping. So each master slaves differently.

how do these compair to the Ape Labs Glow Tube 2.0?

Yes but honestly we hate the cases. We tape 4 charging bricks together ans use a 4 outles splitter to make our chraging units for each 4 unit bag

Wouldnt do that... they make uplight bars for that type of use

One of my tubes just quit working Saturday night. Only had them for a couple of months. Not getting anything in any of the modes. Not sure what's up with it, but Is there any troubleshooting tips I can try before I send it back to get repaired?

You need to plug in a china type dmx transmitter to the airstream

The only change they need to do to the firmware is when you Press "Auto" mode on remote - it should SAVE your Auto settings. It saves your Sound and Strobe settings, but not Auto. Auto should save though. Maybe you can flex your muscle Ricky and get them to update?

Hi i've put one tube on master, and the rest on slave. However when I change the settings on master the slaves don't follow. What am I doing wrong? I'm using the tubes without a DMX Controller

Have to make sure they are on the same dmx color group. Which out the box they sound be. After that put the slaves on the dmx screen

Question. Now, since the new units come with the new caps to capture sound. Are they still IP65 rating? With the holes in them.

Its an optional end cap. And if you use it there is no ip65 rating. But thats only the master light

How would these work with wireless dmx like the chauvet dfi xlr? That's how i connect my lights with sound switch.

You need whatever thread is on top of the stand converted to 1/4"

Hey Rick, great video! #Squad. For mounting a Pixel Tube light on a 'Round base' microphone stand, you should see if you can have 'Both Lighting' create & sell an adapter that attaches to the mic stand. I was noticing that a standard 'Shure Wireless microphone clip' would work perfect, if it were larger in size. Much like a Shure wireless microphone clip secures a wireless microphone to the stand, a larger version would hold the Pixel Tube firm, allowing you to raise & lower the microphone stand to adjust the perfect height. You could add stability by using round weights to the round base of the mic stand. This system would work great for sound companies who already have round base mic stands, and want to avoid high-priced stands for their new lights. They'd only have to purchase the oversized RF clips.

I'm highly interesting in buying these tubes, but I have an important question: the batteries are pretty solid as many reviews are pointing, but we all know that batteries degrade overtime. Is it possible to replace / buy these once they feel weaker after a few years? Thanks !

Very easy to replace the batteries down the line. Unscrew the bottom and slide the battery out. Quick connector

We cover the batteries for 2 years if bought from us. But after two years you can buy new batteries from us too. They are pretty cheap.
