Good review. I bought one and I tell you, it is pretty good. It is future proof and highly flexible since it has an 8k hdmi input for future use. I recommend it.

Great detailed video. How is this when integrating into a Sonos setup throughout a house. I was looking at the 110 W pioneer elite av receiver as it is compatible with Sonos.

One of the better videos on this receiver. I just purchased this... Owned for about 3 weeks now. Upgraded from an Onkyo tx-nr646, just it's a huge difference. Running almost all klipsch, two rear speakers are tower Polk... One day I will replace these with klipsch. I currently have 3 fronts, 2 subs, 2 atmos height, and the 2 backs. I want to add two more... Wondering if you have a recommended setup. Should I go 4 height, should I add the additional 2 as sides ear level? Curious what you think. Also, had a few people tell me I needed to get a separate Amp... But not sure why I would need one. My theater is an open concept in the basement... Actual theater space is maybe 28' front to back, 20' wide. Appreciate the video... One of the best out there. Thanks

Buy 3700...save the money n use it for 2 channel Amp. That 2 channel Amp will also be less than the 500 u save buying the 3700 over the 4700. A 5.2.4 or 7.2.2 is way more than enough for 99% of us. Especially if ur front three are 2 towers n a big center speaker which u can use with a 3 channel Emotiva Basx 3 Amp for $500 😁

@@scotttild I am often switching between the sound profiles like direct, game, etc. and switching sources and simply volume. I didn't realize what a pain in the ass it was going to be because I'm almost always in the dark lol

Zach, I noticed you've been hyping up 8K lately. Unfortunately the average homeowner has no clue that they can't take advantage of it once content does become available. Coax and ethernet cable cannot handle the bandwidth required for 8K content. The only way to do it will be to have fiber from the bandwith source, all the way to the processing equipment.

Would need an amp....buy a 4 channel Amp run ya atmos on that. Then what I did was buy 6 R51m bookshelf speakers. 2 surrounds & 2 fronts(Left & Right) then I use my height 1 connection and brought those 2 speakers down to ear level instead of using them for atmos.

Still good with my x4500h.

@@normanc5371 Most issues i have had when switching hdmi functions is due to to the television. Everyone talks about the receiver like its bad, but in actuality it is the tv that needs to be unplugged from the wall and plugged in, then the flickering stops, and resumes normal operation . I unplugged and reset everything else first and no results. The screen remained flickering so I unplugged the tv and plugged it back in and problem solved. you have to do this probably every couple of months or so.

When will you or any of your team show live testing of the Denon or Marantz range. You never give your opinion on the most important aspect of purchasing your gear. Till you dont, anyone can point out 5,7,9,11 or 13 channels on the back of an AMP. Etc Etc.

Only one 8k input. HeOS is useless as it can only load first 300 songs. The relative speaker to speaker distance is limited to 6 meters with respect to the MLP, so no large rooms support.. I'll wait for Yamaha's 2020 line of receivers... Denon is crap!

Denon's Customer Support is awful. I would not want anyone to deal with this. Two faulty units, 5 hours worth of phone calls so far. Can't get my money back

The human eye cant see in 8K..

I can't believe that a guy who works for an av installation company believes the power ratings of av receivers, manufacturers exaggerate the truth about the power you get per channel, its definitely not what you said 125 per channel in real world ratings its more like 40 watt per channel

Justin Byrne the denon x4700h said it support continuously 70% of its power so the x4700h assure 87.7watts with 5 ch, from the 125watts rated 2 ch. i don’t know if you use the 9 channel. Personally i will continue to use my denon 3803 for the two front left and right, and will power the center and surround from the denon x4700h. It can disable the amplifier of the two front, which deliver more power for the others. And it will not heat as much. Also my old 3803 is very good for 2ch audio.

C C im not sure if you can use some channel on a amplifier and some with amp internal power.i’ve read that you cannot assign channel except for the .2 just processing on this model ?

Mikecats yes only the two front, but you can still send the center as well. It ´s only the center will be amplify by both amplifier. The x4700h can be use as full av processor as well and it shutdown all its amplifier to go fully separates. In this case i would need a Bass 500 to drive the 4 channel atmos left.

Justin Bryne anybody involved in this hobby knows the information of which you speak. You are presenting that info like it is new or Earth shattering news. Unless you have a super large room or really power hungry speakers the watts will be more than enough for most people's systems. Zach is only providing the standard info for AVR power amplification. He knows what it actually translates into real world performance.

Don't buy a denon avr s540bt it overheats every day! Front channel speakers are pro audio speakers dual 15" ohms out at 5.6 ohms. My rear channel speakers are mordant short carnival 2 also ohms out at 5.8 ohms. And a poll audio center channel speaker that ohms out at 5.4 ohms. I'm very disappointed in denon receivers for the over heating issues.

@@scotttild I have a laptop fan underneath the receiver and 18" of free space above it and the house is kept at 68°. If I play the volume above 55 it overheats and goes into thermal protection.
