The Dacia Jogger doesn’t pretend to be anything it’s not. Sure, there’s some cool SUV-inspired trim, but the Jogger is an honest family car that prioritises space over all else. You get seven seats as standard, and even adults can fit in the back row; the rear seats are easily removable and the space they vacate is simply vast. Opt for a mid-spec car and there’s plenty of tech, and all cars get a frugal 1.0-litre petrol engine. It’s not luxurious, or sporty, and its safety score can be disconcerting at first glance, but there’s still plenty to like. Should the Jogger be your next family car? Sara puts it to the test.

    Just purchased and received my Jogger Extreme Se 5 days ago and it is unbelievable value, I am really pleased , great review Carbuyer I preordered , the additional options have come out now and the commercial one with liner and bulkhead looks like you have the ability to have a nice size van as well as a 7 seater mpv all in one …. I am going to get prices for the options tomorrow

    Excellent review. The Euro NCap rating just shows that their assessments nowadays are largely pointless. I used to consider them to be very useful, but now they mainly take into account driver assistance rather safety, pretty pointless.

    A great overview Sara, I have to agree it certainly looks and specs one of the best value family cars currently available. As you mention, it has what is says on the tin. I guess the only (probably small downside) would be resale value after a few years but my feeling would be that these cars are aimed at the private buyer who is likely to keep the car longer so would be less of an issue. After all you could spend twice the price on another car aimed at the similar market segment and loose less in real financial terms after a few years.

    Got one a couple of months ago, it is excellent, only complaint is the furry trim stuff in the boot and footwells, it's thin, exposed, looks stapled in places, and looks like it will look knackered quickly with the kids climbing in and out.

    Great review of a good, honest car. It is a family car, what percentage of the time is it going to be driven fast? Who can drive fast these days, anyway, if it drives at the speed limit then that is all the Aston can do? Much better, real review than CarWow or some other reviewers on here, clear, comprehensive review with no ludicrous personal comedy dominating the narration.

    I dont really know why I came to watch, yet another video about Jogger, and I have to admit, when it get to the part of the "extrene" version, the expression "but that goes against the whole Dacia ego" was exactly on point and I never seen it as that before. That blue color and the white wheel caps are more pleasant to the eye indeed. It's a family car, there shouldn't be anything too sport-ish about it.

    I remember years ago, late 90s - early 2000s, Skoda used to be like that - honest, affordable and reliable car. Not anymore. Lets hope Dacia stays the way it is and i think it will become very successful. Looking at the range and practicality of the cars, it is already way better than Renault has to offer.

    Dacia have a point though. You lose a star for example for not having a rear seatbelt sensor…now it’s a good safety feature but is it life saving? Probably not as if you have kids you belt them in if you have adults in there they should do it and frankly for a car costing well under half anything equivalent in the class I’d forgo it. I think there is a difference between the chassis being unsafe and electronic safety features being missing and indeed other manufacturers are asking ncap to re look at this.

    Thing is it wasn’t that it scored badly in occupant protection just low in certain areas due to no lane assist(dangerous in itself), no seat belt warning for 3rd row (so you can remove the seats without having wiring plugs to get caught up in), not the highest spec of active brakes (doesn’t pick up smaller objects but stops you running into another car so job done). Tbh it doesn’t have the stuff that you don’t really need or want if you want to be in charge of driving instead of the car. Badge snobs now form an orderly queue to say how much better and safer your BM and Merc is and how amazing your dash full of tablet screens is that will break costing thousands..😁

    Care to back that up, 2021+ regime only because back in the day of all those cars that you can now get second hand wouldn't score as well as the Jogger does on passive safety. Some, in fact, have run out and should be retested as the Zoe was and I'd expect similar drops from the heady heights of 5* to 0 or 1 stars overall due to the way stars are awarded: based on the lowest category.

  • @MarthaMansbridge

    Agree - seems completely unacceptable for any other car brand to justify even having 4 or 3 starts but Dacia seems to get away with it? I actually don't disagree with them, not having a load of expensive tech doesn't make the car physically less safe but there has to be consistency in how this is portrayed in the Auto Media.

  • @davidspencer7254

    @davidspencer7254

    Жыл бұрын

    It depends entirely how you end up at that rating. If you end up at 1* because your crash safety is poor in terms of occupant protection you deserve to be derided even if your active systems are 5*. Why? Because even the best active systems can't prevent a collision. Disagree? I challenge you to drive a tesla with a metal spike pointing at your forehead. The other way around is more acceptable. That's why the auto industry wants to separate these two things as they are not philosophically equivalent. That's why "Dacia gets away with it" because even the experts are uncomfortable with this false equivalence. Have a nice day.

    ALL OTHER CARS: if they score less than 5* in eNCAP they get ripped to shreds in the media..... DACIA Jogger: gets 1* but 'don't worry about that, it's still a tough car'.....???????? For the same price as the top spec Jogger, you can get the top spec MG ZS, 7 year warranty, ALL of the safety tech, lane keeping, emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, 360 Camera.... You lose two seats that are probably unusable anyway (especially the way they sit in the boot).
