2014 Memories I love this riffle

Got mine a few months back with Magpul furniture in FDE for $1050 out the door and love it. Shoots flawlessly every time I go shooting and not a single problem yet.

You can't go wrong with the Colt Law Enforcement Carbine (6920) for your DI AR. Get yourself a piston Sig516 as well.

I appreciate how you want to leave one 6920 in the standard configuration. I've done the same. But this is not an M4A1. The M4A1 will have a heavier barrel profile under the forend and also uses an H2 buffer where as the standard M4 uses an H buffer. These two enhancements are meant to better accommodate full auto fire in the actual current military version. There is also a picatinny railed forend version called the SOCOM. The M4A1 will always very clearly be roll marked as such, whereas your rifle is very clearly roll marked 'M4'. Your rifle will have the lightweight barrel profile under the forend and an H buffer. Look and see for yourself.

As you probably know, the civilian M4A1's can be purchased at an extra cost, such as the SOCOM. My opinion is that if you are restricted to semi auto only, (unless you get a full auto sear and form 1 the gun with the ATF) then there isn't any reason to pay extra for the M4A1 unless you just want one. The heavier barrel and H2 buffer are only meant to better accommodate full auto fire. If you are semi auto only then they simply aren't needed. If you haven't already, I strongly recommend dropping on a 4x ACOG TA01 or TA31. I can regularly hit targets over 500 yards with mine. Red dots sights are great but have there limitations. A 4x ACOG taps into and maxes out the rifles true capability. Red dots are better for more real world urban combat, self defense scenarios, which are more likely.

+Jake Weston I have an acog ta031, aimpoint comp m3, and aimpoint t1. I need to make a update vid of all my ar15 rifles with their upgrades. as a civilian you can't form 1 to create a machine gun anymore sadly. only sbr. any transferable select fire has to be on the registry 1984 and before.

Actually prior to 1986. If you have the money then you can easily buy an NFA registered full auto M16 sear. I think the form 4 is the one needed to be filed with the ATF for such a purchase. It will drop into any AR lower that isn't blocked. Sadly, our Colt lowers have blocks even though there BCGs are full auto from the factory. Believe me, I have a buddy thats all over this kind of stuff. He has a Spikes Tactical lower that accommodates his registered M16 sear. Yeah make an updated video

+Jake Weston oh you're talking about a drop in auto sear, yes you are correct. I thought you meant converting a semi to full by modifying the receiver to accept a regular pinned sear.

Nice rifle, can't wait to get mine! Just got one from Bud's for $860.00 with Magpul furniture. Like you said in the vid, saw a good price and had to jump. I was looking at many different brands, and it came down to Core 15 or Colt. In the end, the 1:7 twist, and Colt's rep won me over. Core 15 is new to the game, but they seem to make some good rifles and their warranty is insane. However, I'm jacked to be getting a true M4!

You made a great choice to get the Colt! It truly is the best AR with all of colts specs and manufacturing process. Thats a great price man especially with magpul furniture! You will love it!

The socom profile is a heavy barrel with the m203 cuts, it does not taper down under the hand guards and is much thicker. To allow the rifle to sustain a high rate of fire for a prolonged period.

Wow. Prices have really come down since this video was made. I just bought the LE6920- OEM1 (which is the no furniture model) for $704.00. You can find the rifle in the video for around $850.00 all day long.

I remember in late spring 2008. Colt sold these rifles for $800 when they first came out. 2 weeks later price jumped up due to popularity. I regret not buying it back then.

I was naming top tier AR15s. The S&W M&P is a great AR15 especially for the money but its not in the mil-spec category as the ones I mentioned. The manufacturing process as well as the materials used are not the same which is why its less expensive but still a great AR. Thanks for the comment!

I used to make fun of people for buying Colts. Like, go BCM or Daniel Defense or LWRC! Now that Colt is no longer producing these, you guys get the last laugh! I wanna find a 6720 just because I like the lighter barrel.

have one too, came from the factory with the more OIL on it than ALL the other rifles i've purchased combined.......glad about that.......mid length gas sytem rifles shoot more reliably over time with less maintenance however........ keep it clean ok, and practice, practice, practice......... :) STANAG Mags drop more quickly and reliably than Magpuls (unless you work on them) from different AR lowers - but that's another topic for another day...........enjoy :)

ashman0071 theres no proof from any mfg that mid lengths are more reliable.The carbine was designed for 14.5 inch barrel not 16.

What a beautiful rifle

I have an LE6920 and love it. I'm building my second Ar-15 now, I have the lower completed, but I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with the upper. I might make it a SPR with an 18" barrel, free float etc. I'm open to suggestions. Of course, I paid too much for my Colt LE6920.

Nice M4, mine must be the 2012 LE6920, came w the carry handle which I'm a big fan of, sling loop on side and Rogers sup stk. I just recently had an advanced armament 3 prong flash hider/sup, sounds like a loud .22 now. Colt makes the best AR's as far as I'm concerned. Enjoy, later bro.

+lee radio You would have to drill through the dual heatsheilds to expose the hole on the grip to accept a rail attachment

Happy with my LE-6920. Put a quad rail on it, Geissle trigger, LaRue scope mount on it with a Nikon M223 and Aimpoint Pro.(swappable) with quick disconnect mount. Returns to zero like a champ. Very good personal defense gun. Hogs hate it.

cool rifle! have you ever checked into other ffl that charges less? 35 seems high because i only pay 15 for my ffl in ohio & is lowest i've found. other ffl in my area are normally 20-25.

I have friend that has an FFL and does everything out of his house, he charges $10 for the backround check and transfer. I wasnt able to use him recently so I had to do it through a local gun shop and all of the gun shops in my area are $35. I personally think the gun shops should charge $20-25 but I really dont care that much its not a big deal to me.

Is the socom barrel the one thats thick the whole length of the barrel? On this one the barrel is thick from the front sight to the flash hider but thinner under the fore grip.

***** I don't know if this is specific to california, but after removing the pistol grip, and the springs/detent for the selector, it just wouldn't come out... makes me wonder why... I'd hate to take apart the FCG, but I would if I have to. Didn't know if you ran into this issue as well..

I had to remove the FCG on my Colt ar15a4 to take the selector out but it was an ambi selector. First time I experienced that. All the other times I just take out the detent and spring

Walmart has had them on clearance lately 850$ for 6920 magpul edition!

Its January 2020, just went to a gun show here in PA, and picked one up with government, military, law enforcement roll mark on the ejection port side of the lower, then on opposite side its marked Colts law enforcement carbine. Carry handle has same stamp as upper receiver. Has the barrel clamped sling swivel under front site. Then everything else would be regular colt production as you have. H marked buffer, colt marked bolt carrier, and so on. Seems mine may be an older production model? I've seen alot like yours but I've heard with the markings this gun has and few other things noted, it's a little older? I'm no colt pro by any means, I'm stating the differences between things mine has that yours doesn't just as a matter of wondering why? I'm not comparing sticks here lol I'd like to know more about mine. From the little I do know about the LE colts, that what I paid was a very good deal being January 2020 and these are harder and harder to come by, atleast at a reasonable price. Got this for $900 and gentleman gave me 4 used mags, now I imagine this gun was used but don't really see any signs of it on the shell deflector, if it was shot, maybe very little. No box or anything else came with it, just the gun itself and 4 metal mags of different make - no colt - and a box of training ammo that splatters on impact lol. Confident I got an okay deal, just curious about these other things this gun has that yours and others I've seen do not have. Any informed enthusiasts out there are welcome to school me! Love your video, very nice piece of equipment you have there!

Your Colt LE6920 was made 2009 or before. Its the exact same as mine other than the different accessories like the barrel mounted sling swivel.

Great deal, especially if the barrel was chrome lined like mentioned in the video like the colt 6920. I recently picked up my first Ar, I bought a complete M4 upper (16" nitrite barrel, MOE hand guard, w/magpul rear flip up sight) and complete lower separately, came out to $389, $423 after two magpul P30 magazines. PSA has great deals during blackfriday and Christmas.

Meant to say it is a medium weight barrel, not heavy.

Although Colt is still making different varieties of the AR-15/ M-16s, Colt did lose it's ass a while back, there's a QC issue too!!! I have a Colt Sporter, from 1993, in 7.62x 39, yea, the AK round, 16 in. barrel, 1 in 7 twist, fixed buttstock. I highly doubt, Colt will ever make these beauts again!!! I'll never part with mine!!! In any event, Pre bankruptcy Colt Quality was awesome! !! 60s & 70s - Pythons, Gold Cups, even early 90s King Cobras, all are of unsurpassed Quality & The Gold Standard!!!!! If you have the extra loot, for Top Notch ARs/ M-16s- I'd go with FN or H&K!!! BTW, BROWNING, GARRAND, & THOMPSON - ALL JOHNS!!!!

nice video am in the market for one i do like the le 6920 do you think the 6920 socom is better ? the hand gaurd is diffrent plus its not dual heat shield (socom) .

The socom version comes with a knights armament ras quad rail. The barrel is thick under where the hand guard goes, the regular 6920 has a thinner barrel under where the hand guards go. I personally would get the regular LE6920. They are equal.

I havent shot this one yet but I have a 6920 thats identical to this one that I bought two years ago. Its very accurate with the iron sights. I ordered an Aimpoint Comp M3 red dot sight for it. I recommend shooting with the original sights first and get good at shooting with them. After that get an optic if you choose. There is nothing wrong with the iron sights thyere very great!

Still got it, I have many LE6920 carbines and only shoot the ones I have cusomized the most. Some I never shot since theyre all the same.

***** I've been wondering why these are 4 position and most others are 6 position?.. I was thinking maybe because its what military uses and they most likely use body armor and a bunch of other stuff so they don't have the gun sticking way out they keep it collapsed to first position... Just guessing though

The 4 position is more practical. The 6 position (extra 2 positions) dont make a noticeable difference so its not needed

Yup walmart had them until end of 2012. $1097. PA. I didnt pay for the backround check, I paid a transfer fee since i bought it on gun broker and used my local FFL to receive it so that I could do my backround check

TheMilitaryArsenal there is 2 6940 models . Also they have tje 6940 (monolithic 16") , 6940p monolithic socom profile piston 16" , 6943 Commando monolithic, 6944 monolithic 14.5 , 6945 monolithic mk18.. The piston was the Colt 1020 model for the longest time. Also how you can tell if you got a military approved bolt is it will have a white dot on bottom of bolt. I'm not trying to be a jerk it's just le6940 is a di and 6940p is piston . Speaking from experience I had a buddy buy a 6940 and was told it was a piston (not by you ) and it wasn't . Back then they had just changed it from 1020 to 6940p. What sucks is colt more than likely will be going out of buisness soon. They've depleted most thier inventory. The carbines they are selling now we're actual M4 or M4A1 uppers from the US ARMY. I've purchased 2 Colts in the past 7 months and both were the true socom profile barrel . The other le6920 socom that came out 5 or 6 years ago were not true socom barrels. The 2017 models are. The unicorns of colts are the 694 series. The monolithic platform are amazing. What sucks is every manufacturer that makes a monolithic has to pay lmt a royalty fee. People don't realize that Colt designed the piston ar15 in the late 60s but there was never a need for it until 2004 during the scar program. The fn scar didn't beat out the Colt by any means at all , socom just wanted something different. Even to this day the type C SCAR model 1020 can run side by side with any piston system . The real unicorn of colt is the DIEMACO // COLT CANADA. I wish we could get the C7 , C8 , OR MRR. Or hell even a Colt Canada CHF Barrel. There was some used Diemaco CHF A3 being sold as police trade inns a couple months ago . My father in law got one of the last ones because I tried to order one 10 min later and said sold out. Colt will probably be bought out by someone or just close thier doors for good. When they do the prices on true Colts will skyrocket

I got mine for $883.76 after taxes and background check fee thru my local FFL.

I know there are better rifles, but for the price and resale value you cant beat colt. You can always have a daniel defence, sig, bcm etc but colts wont always be around, not in california.

Your video title is incorrect, your carbine is the standard Colt M4 Carbine. The M4A1 is a different Carbine with a heavier barrel profile under the handguard and comes equipped with the Knights Armament rail and Colt cheaped out with later models came with the cheap Troy battlerail. The M4A1 also uses an H2 buffer where the standard (your carbine) uses an H buffer. The stock on your carbine is the standard M4 stock, not M4A1.

+PaLEOjd I know everything you stated in your comment. Colt designates the LE6920 Socom as the M4A1...I know that. Outside of Colts classification and just based on configuration alone, its an M4A1, just not select fire which is a "true" M4A1

It definitely has a different finish, Colt follows the TDP when they manufacture so they use the finish that they and the military put in the TDP. Its not a commercial grade gun so its to be expected that the finish wont look like other manufacturers that use whatever finish they want

Thats fine, Ive built carbines on bushmaster lowers before. I have no problem with bushmaster receivers, I just prefer the better barrels and bolts that are MP HP individually tested. Bushmaster has good bolt carriers.

for a shooter it will hold tremendous value no matter how much its used as long as kept in decent condition so its really a great choice for a shooter cause it holds value and its a shooter. some are just shooters and have no consumer demand

Anyone watching this stay away from Stag products, I had two. They got dirty very fast, and robbed me of numerous coyotes due to jamming. Not a fan. Looking for a Delton for a 3rd AR

Party Animal Colt in a lawsuit won the SOUL SOURCE for the M4 or M4A1 carbine until 2013. Colt lost the contract because FNMI low balled them. The FNMI uses Colts TDP. Yes you are right Colt is bankrupt and I doubt they will be in buisness much longer. Owning any Colt 69 series will be highly collectable one day. Even to this day Colt is the only company that can sell you a REAL DEAL M16 // M4 Carbine that the US MILITARY uses. LMT , COLT , and LWRCI are the only companies that call sell you a real deal military carbine
